I finally have the form working, However - the submit button is towards to top and any attempt to move it renders the button non functioning. I know my code is messy - I'll clean that up once I know what I need to do can even be done. Thanks to anyone who can help! 3. I have made a form where some radio buttons are contained.The selection made by the user is stored in the db tables as a number, corresponding to the different values of each of the radio buttons. Here are the radio buttons with corresponding values: <td><input type="radio" class="formBuzType" name="buztype" value="1" > <label>test1</label><br></td> <td> <input type="radio" class="formBuzType" name="buztype" value="3"> <label>test3</label> <br></td> <td> <input type="radio" class="formBuzType" name="buztype" value="4"> <label>test4</label> <br></td> <td><input type="radio" class="formBuzType" name="buztype" value="5"> <label>test5</label> <br></td> <td><input type="radio" class="formBuzType" name="buztype" value="2"><label>test2</label> <br></td> If the user has chosen test3 then "3" will be stored in the database. Getting the value 3 from the db is not difficult(a simple SELECT query)...what I cannot do is making the appropriate preselection in the form depending on the fetched from the db value. To say it simpler...since 3 is in the db, I want when the radio buttons appear to the user(HTML) the value 3 option is selected so that the user can know what he has chosen the last time...how I will do that?
  4. I would swear I have seen an input type that was somewhere between a plain ol' text box and a select. In other words, the user could choose from the drop-down list or, if their choice was not found in the list, they could type in whatever they wanted. Is there such a control? I spent some time on http://w3schools.com looking for this, but found nothing.
  5. I have a page in which users are an employee of a charity. They can / should enter information about their organization including phone numbers. It occurs to me that some organizations may have dozens or even hundreds of phone numbers. I do NOT want to have to place that many <input> tags on the page since most users will never need them. I thought it would be nice if there were some sort of input device that can be expanded as needed like a spreadsheet.If there is no such control, I want one. I want it very similar to an <input type=text> control because I want to limit the length of the user's input and even the content, if possible. Also, the cells need to be named as they are created so the server can know they exist and can extract their value.
  6. Hello internet Safari is not allowing my radio buttons to work and it will not let submit my form connected with those... any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. SUBMITTING THE FORMHTML<form name=poll1 id=poll1 method="post" target="_blank">.....<input type="radio" name="ne" id="ne1" value="1">.....</form> JAVAfunction poll1submit(){poll1.action = "polls_p.php";document.getElementById('poll1').submit()}
  7. Hi! I'm new to the whole form-making business and currently beating my way though the basics. Right now i'm clueless about what seems to be a pretty simple and straightforward function. I want my visitor to be able to add values from two different <input-type>-fields into a <textarea>. These two values (being name and e-mail) should become a single row in the <textarea>. The visitor should also be able to remove desired generated rows with a simple click on the "remove selected"-button. The result should look like this: This part of my form looks like this thus far: <div class="deltagare-rubrik">Namn:</div> <input type="text" size="45" name="deltagare-namn" value""> <div class="deltagare-rubrik">E-post:</div> <input type="text" size="45" name="deltagare-epost" value""> <br /> <input type="button" name="deltagare-add" value="Add" class="button"> <br /> <textarea name="deltagare-list" class="deltagare-list" readonly="true"></textarea> <input type="button" name="deltagare-remove" value="Remove selected" class="button"> Very grateful for help, thanks!
  8. Hi all, I'm new to JavaScript and I'm really stuck on something for a project that is probably easy to resolve but I can't seem to figure out after many trial and errors! I'm trying to get ALL of the onfocus events to work for each input field. For example, I want to create a div for the instructional message to appear whenever you click on the text field. It'll be much appreciated if anyone can help! I'm using this code but it only works for the first text field I click on and not the rest of the other text fields: function init(){ document.querySelector("#fEmail").onfocus = Einstructions;document.querySelector("#fName").onfocus = Ninstructions;document.querySelector("#fAddress1").onfocus = Ainstructions;} //function for instructions on the email text fieldfunction Einstructions(){ //select any message divs that might be where we don't want them, and destroy themmsgs = document.querySelectorAll(".DivMsg");for(var i=0;i<msgs.length;i++){ //ask the parent node of each message div to destory the message divmsgs[i].parentNode.removeChlid(msgs[i]);} var div = document.createElement("div");div.className = "DivMsg";div.innerHTML = "Please enter your e-mail address (example: john@blah.com)."; //append the div to the page, inside of the parent of the current form elementthis.parentNode.appendChild(div); } //function for instructions on the name text fieldfunction Ninstructions(){ //select any message divs that might be where we don't want them, and destroy themmsgs = document.querySelectorAll(".DivMsg");for(var i=0;i<msgs.length;i++){ msgs[i].parentNode.removeChlid(msgs[i]);}var div = document.createElement("div");div.className = "DivMsg";div.innerHTML = "Please enter your full name."; //append the div to the page, inside of the parent of the current form elementthis.parentNode.appendChild(div); }//function for instructions on the address text field function Ainstructions(){ //select any message divs that might be where we don't want them, and destroy themmsgs = document.querySelectorAll(".DivMsg");for(var i=0;i<msgs.length;i++){//ask the parent node of each message div to destory the message divmsgs[i].parentNode.removeChlid(msgs[i]);} var div = document.createElement("div");div.className = "DivMsg";div.innerHTML = "Please enter your full primary address."; //append the div to the page, inside of the parent of the current form elementthis.parentNode.appendChild(div); }

  15. A form installed on our web site has been working for three weeks or so, but suddenly stopped workingunder the circumstance described below. The form has several <input> fields, and only one <textarea>.The problem lies with the <textarea> field: <form action-="http://.../cgi-bin/cgiemail/registration.txt" method="post" /><input name="success" type="hidden" value="http://.../thanks.htm"><textarea name="passengers" cols="20 rows="10" />...</textarea> When data is entered in the passenger field as: Alpha <enter>Beta <enter>Charlie <enter>Delta <enter> <submit> the form fails and this error message appears - [i][b][font=times new roman,times,serif]"No email was sent due to an error.[/font][/b][/i][i][b]Invalid character detected in headers.[/b][/i][i][b]Possible spam exploit attempt."[/b][/i] When data is entered on one line as: Alpha Beta Charlie Delta <submit> the form works and an email is sent via cgiemail script. All other fields are <input type="text" name="[various]" size="[various]"/>and all work as defined. When I modify the form action to ".../cgi-bin/[b]cgiecho[/b]/registration.txt..." andenter data in both formats, I get a success response page (thanks.htm) but since nothingwas transmitted, I have no way of knowing if the <textarea> field behaved as intended. My host tech support said he could not see any mis-written code, but his tests indicatedthere was indeed some sort of "invalid character in the headers," and suggested I use their$65/hr HTML division to research the problem. He doesn't think the "Possible spam exploitattempt" suggestion is a valid one. I explained that the form was working properly until lastweek and I had not made any changes... specifically the <textarea> field that would affectthe cgi scripting - I don't have access to the scripts on their servers. Can anyone help with this problem? Doug

Here is an example html file: example.htm <!DOCTYPE html><html><head> <title>POST Example</title></head><body><form name="example" method="POST" action="ThePerlFile"> <input type="text" name="value" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit It"/></form></body></html>

  24. I am creating a form that is captured and placed in an email. I have managed to do this fine with the exception of one item. when getting the value of a text area it will not maintain the user entered format. Thsi will be important when recieving the information in the email. what I need is this, when a user enters the below info in a textarea;---example---Reference line 1Reference line 2Reference line 3Reference line 4----------------- I need it to popluate in the email the same way. When I pull this infor like a normal input it comes out like this; Reference line 1Reference line 2Reference line 3Reference line 4 can anyone help? I am not able to use PHP in my environment I am working with, as I understand it now. I also do not know much about asp.net
  25. OK, I have hit a snag and I want to try and make this work if I can. I am trying to add a new text field next to a current list field based on a single selected item. can anyone help me on this? I added the segments that I want this to change. *script* function DbRole(myform){if (document.myform.Accesslevel1.value=="Database Role = "){document.myform.Accesslevel1("DbRole1").setValue(""); AddFields();}} *form* <input name="Accessgroups1" type="text" size="50"> <select name="Accesslevel1"> <option value=""></option> <option value="Read">Read</option> <option value="Write">Write</option> <option value="Read/Write">Read/Write</option> <option value="Update">Update (accounting)</option> <option value="Delete">Delete (Accounting)</option> <option value="Update/Delete (Accounting)">Update/Delete (Accounting)</option> <option onChange="DbRole()" value="Database Role = ">-Database Role-</option> (**the idea is that when this last item is selected a text field will appear next to this list field**) </select> Any help would be appreciated, I am new to this but I have already managed to set up other js that works but this one escapes me at this moment.
