  1. Hi, Need some CSS help regarding SubMenu creation. I have this below code for responsive Main Menu which is working fine. I need to create a SubMenu under the main menu. For example :- Menu2 will habe two submenu like Menu2_SubMenu1 & Menu2_SubMenu2. The color, format and hovering effect will be same like Main menu. Can you kindly help me out with the CSS for the same. I am messing up with the Submenu CSS code code. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Ari. Here is the WORKING code where I would like to include sub-menu.( for example under **Menu2**). <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style> body { margin: 0; } ul.topnav { list-style-type: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0; overflow: hidden; background-color: #2D5C88; text-align: center; /* For fixed header */ position: fixed; width: 100%; z-index: 1000; } ul.topnav li { display: inline; } ul.topnav li a { display: inline-block; color: #fff; text-align: center; padding: 8px 30px 8px 30px; text-decoration: none; transition: 0.3s; font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Verdana', Geneva, sans-serif; } ul.topnav li a:hover { background-color: #33699b; } ul.topnav li.icon { display: none; } @media screen and (max-width:680px) { ul.topnav li:not(:first-child) { display: none; } ul.topnav li.icon { float: right; display: inline-block; } } @media screen and (max-width:680px) { ul.topnav.responsive { position: relative; } ul.topnav.responsive li.icon { position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } ul.topnav.responsive li { float: none; display: inline; } ul.topnav.responsive li a { display: block; text-align: left; } } </style> </head> <body> <ul class="topnav" id="myTopnav"> <li><a class="active" href="">Menu1</a></li> <li><a href="">**Menu2**</a></li> <li><a href="">Menu3</a></li> <li class="icon"> <a href="javascript:void(0);" style="font-size:15px;" onclick="myFunction()">☰</a> </li> </ul> </body> </html>
  2. For whatever reason, anytime I use "position: sticky" in whatever form whether it's browser supported or through the Stickyfill.js it breaks the w3-bar navigation menu. obviously has a way to make it work. But I can't. Sticky off - dropdown menu works perfect. Stick ON and the menu button clicks but the dropdown content is not displayed. Or at the very least it's not visible if it is. <-- Sticky ON (broken) <-- Sticky OFF (works) Is this a known issue or am I just missing something. Currently working with MS Edge and latest Chrome on Win 10 Pro (dev)
  3. Yes, I am still using this menu for the mobile and tablet layout! I would like to know how to do the following: I don't want a menu bar all the way across the screen on mobile and tablet layout. I want to do a slide from the side of the screen on mobile and tablet layout. Thanks.

  5. Does it work to set the first tab red like it is, the second blue, and the third green?
  6. Hi all, I'd like to make a responsive navigation bar with a drop down menu using jQuery but I'm having some difficulties getting it work properly. I've just started learning jQuery so my knowledges in this language are very limited for the moment. I know there is a tutorial precisely for that on w3school but I followed this tutorial on YouTube as the result is closer to what I would like to end up with. Besides, the code looks easier to me. What I'm trying to do is basically the same thing but without using an external <div> for the menu bar, which I would like to include in the list elements. To do so, I hid all the list elements using a max-height to 0 except for the "menu" one, then I toggleClassed all the list elements but the "menu" one so they get the new declaration max-height= 3em. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't drop down when clicking on the "menu" bar. Any help? Thanks. Here is the .html <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="responsiveMenu2.css" /> <script src=""></script> <title>Test</title> </head> <body> <header> <h2>responsive navigation (mobile first)</h2> <nav> <ul> <li class="menu" id="menu"><a href="#">menu</a></li> <li class=""><a href="#">home</a></li> <li class=""><a href="#">galleries</a></li> <li class=""><a href="#">news</a></li> <li class=""><a href="#">about</a></li> <li class=""><a href="#">contact</a></li> </ul> </nav> </header> <section> <article> Sed maximum est in amicitia parem esse inferiori. 7. Hello W3Schools! Its been a while I am trying to help a friend setting up he's webshop. It is already online but trying to make it look more nice according to webdesign template - this is hes website shop ( i have already changed A LOT on this design, now i mostly need the menu... as you see the menu navigation has a lot of categories, and he told me that he wanted to add a lot more in the future if this shop could run online, so i am trying to figure out a solution for this. I already like the design myself, except the menu, so i have come to a solution that i am working on and hopefully you can help me out, work with me. As you see i currently have added 13 Categories, now my idea is to code some PHP into the menu on OpenCart so that if the menu design is ABOVE "1100px" in width AND has more than 7-8 categories on the menu, it will only show the 7-8 categories and at the end of it all show a little plus sign "+", when clicked on the plus sign a little side-menu will appear out from that little plus sign. The reason for using the 1100px width thing is to know if its on a pc orr on a mobile (if you know a better way please tell me, this is just to show you what i want) i know for sure the "plus sign" already has been made somewhere, but how to actually do it? We are using opencart version or something like that... this is the code i found on the .tbl file: <?php foreach ($categories as $category) { ?> <?php if ($category['children']) { ?><li class="dropdown"><a href="<?php echo $category['href']; ?>" class="dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown"><span><?php echo $category['name']; ?></span> <img width="8" height="8" class="menu-close" src="catalog/view/theme/atr374opc2101/image/menu_close.gif" /><img width="8" height="8" class="menu-open" src="catalog/view/theme/atr374opc2101/image/menu_open.gif" /></a> <div class="dropdown-menu"> <div class="dropdown-inner"> <?php foreach (array_chunk($category['children'], ceil(count($category['children']) / $category['column'])) as $children) { ?> <ul class="list-unstyled"> <?php foreach ($children as $child) { ?><!-- --><li><a href="<?php echo $child['href']; ?>"><?php echo $child['name']; ?></a></li><!-- --><?php } ?> </ul> <?php } ?> </div> <a href="<?php echo $category['href']; ?>" class="see-all"><span><?php echo $text_all; ?> <?php echo $category['name']; ?></span></a></div> </li><?php } else { ?><!-- --><li><a href="<?php echo $category['href']; ?>"><span><?php echo $category['name']; ?></span></a></li><?php } ?> <?php } ?> On another note, we are also using BootStrap (latest version) to make the design responsive. And the reason why i use the 1100px width, like i said before is because of knowing if the screen is that wide AND to tell if i should be adding the category addon... if the screen however is less than 1100px (or so...), the menu should be normal. Reason why i do this is because i already like the responsive design, i only need to edit the PC-Screen design a little bit so the menu can fit without problems. Hope you all can help out one way or another, still struggling with this little thing Thanks in advance and again, its been a while, so..... HELLO // rootKID
  8. Hello. My existing website (here) uses a side-nav. It's currently coded such that I need to copy/paste and then modify the nav code onto every one of my pages... totally lame. I'd like to be able to easily add primary tabs and secondary tabs to this nav in one master-nav document. Apparently one easy way to allow for using a master-nav document is through the use of PHP "Include" (or "require"), as explained (here) on w3schools. I followed the above example, and got it working great as a single-level nav (a 1-level nave with only primary tabs). Unfortunately, the PHP "include" example doesn't show an example of a 2-level nav (one with primary tabs and secondary tabs). My questions to you guys: 1. What would be the best way for me to go about coding in order to get a single master-nav document that I can easily edit, and said master-nav will also have the functionality of a 2-level nav? (I'm guessing I'll be needing some JQuery) 2. Can you point me in the correct direction of an example / tutorial? Thanks. -Josh!
  9. Hey everyone, I made a cool little pure css hamburger button with a transition to a cross or x. Thought I would share it and open it up for improvements you guys can make. (If anyone thinks using borders is better, it is not, it displays incorrectly in Firefox.)
  10. Hi, I'm making a menu script with several options. With ul and li. The script works but I cant find a way to have a start up page or so selected. What happens now is that the last chosen page is showing in the browser unless < a href "somepage"> is used and targeted in the obtained name attribute. <ul class="slideuptabs"> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home.php" target="lcell"><span>Home</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home2.php" target="lcell"><span>Home2</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home3.php" target="lcell"><span>Home3</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home4.php" target="lcell"><span>Home4</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home5.php" target="lcell"><span>Home5</span></a></li> <li><a href="http://localhost/MyLocation/home6.php" target="lcell"><span>Home6</span></a></li> </ul> <br><br> <table class = "maincell" border="2" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2"> <tbody> <tr> <td class="lcell" name ="lcell"><iframe src=" " name="lcell" width="99%" height="99%" framebo rder="0"> </iframe> </td> <td class="rcell" name ="rcell"><iframe src=" " name="rcell" width="99%" height="99%" framebo rder="0"> </iframe><br> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Is there a solution do this at loading the site or frame page? Can it be done in html or should I use another language? .
  11. Hey! I am relatively new to CSS and HTML, what I basically do is some sort of Reverse Engineering -- I downloaded a template from w3 and tried to tweak it for work. Admittedly, I am a noob and doesn't fully understand what the codes mean. I need your advice on how I can edit the CSS code to stop breaking the nav bar whenever the screen is not maximised. I know the links/text can shrink so i'm thinking maybe the nav bar doesn't have to break or rearrange the links to several lines. The actual site is saved locally at the moment and here's the css code for the menu. /*--menu--*/ .menu { border-bottom: 5px solid #096DB9; width: 100%; } .toggleMenu { display: none; background: #666; padding: 0; width: 100%; color: #fff; } .top-nav{ background: #014279; } .nav { list-style-type: none; *zoom: 1; width: 100%; float:left; } .nav:before, .nav:after { content: " "; display: none; width: 0; } .nav:after { clear: both; } .nav ul { list-style: none; width: 100%; } .nav a { color: #FFF; font-size: 100%; } .nav> a, .nav li> a:hover { color:#FF0000; } .nav li { position: relative; padding: 1px 15px; font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; } .nav > li { float: left; } .nav > li > a { display: float; } .nav li ul { position: absolute; left: 100%; } .nav > li.hover > ul { left: 0; } .nav li li.hover ul { left: 100%; top: 0; -webkit-transition: background .2s linear; -moz-transition: background .2s linear; -ms-transition: background .2s linear; -o-transition: background .2s linear; transition: background .2s linear; } .search{ float:left; padding-top:0.2em; } .search input[type="text"] { outline: none; padding:5px 16px; outline: none; color: #fff; background:none; border: 1px solid #096DB9; width: 78.33%; line-height: 1.5em; font-size: 0.8125em; } .search input[type="submit"] { background: #FF0000 url('../images/search.png') no-repeat 9px 9px; padding: 6px 15px; border: none; cursor: pointer; width: 1.33%; position: absolute; line-height: 1.5em; outline: none; } .search input[type="submit"]:hover{ background:#001C32 url('../images/search.png') no-repeat 9px 9px; } .dropbtn { background-color: #4CAF50; color: white; padding: 16px; font-size: 16px; border: none; cursor: pointer; } .dropdown { position: relative; display: inline-block; } .dropdown-content { display: none; position: relative; background-color: #003366; min-width: 160px; box-shadow: 0px 8px 16px 0px rgba(0,0,0,0.2); } .dropdown-content a { color: white; padding: 8px 12px; text-decoration: none; display: block; } .dropdown-content a:hover {background-color: #FF0000} .dropdown:hover .dropdown-content { display: block; } .dropdown:hover .dropbtn { background-color: #003366; }

  14. This is an example working with optgroup. <form action="#" ><SELECT name="rubsel" class="btn"><?php$tmp=0;while($row = $result->fetch_assoc() ) {$reeks = implode(" " , $row); ?> <optgroup ="btn" label = "<?php echo $reeks; ?>" ><?php echo $reeks ;$tmp ; ?><option class="btn" name="rub_sub1" value="<?php echo $reeks; ?>">1 t/m 10 </option><option class="btn" name="rub_sub2" value="<?php echo $reeks; ?>">11 t/m 20 </option><option class="btn" name="rub_sub3" value="<?php echo $reeks; ?>">21 t/m 30 </option><option class="btn" name="rub_sub4" value="<?php echo $reeks; ?>">31 t/m 40 </option></optgroup><?php $tmp++;}?></SELECT><br><br><input type="submit" class ="btn" name ="tab_wrd" value="Kies Rubriek" /> <br><br></form> What i would like to know is how the input is being processed when using php. Especially how to find exactly the value of <option> The Select name input is found and echoed but what if I put a name attribute in the option element? I cant get an output of that. Or is there another way to get the option value with other attributes for instance?
  15. I recently found W3 Schools site related to my search for information on navigation bars. What I am most interested in learning is how to build a navigation bar that matches what W3 Schools has on their own website. I especially want to learn how to build a navbar that has dropdowns that behave the like the ones they have for Tutorials and Examples. I have been unable to locate anything on their tutorials that would show me an example of how that is done. If anyone has any or could point me in the direction of where I can find some examples, I would be extremely thankful.
  16. Hello everyone! I've got 6 details I wish to improve through my WP theme, Evolve. And I guess I need some CSS for them but I'm not good enough right now to do it all alone... So, I'm asking for your help today! I hope I'm not asking to much... Here is my (french) website : 1. You can see I've got a widget on the right of my page. I'd like to resize it to give more space to my text (right now, it's 66% and 33% and I would like 75%-25%). I tried some things but I have to made it so that it still responsive. But I don't know how... I guess I have to add some If or And but.. how? 2. Again with this menu, I would like my text to be around it. Right now, the text is only in its column and doesn't go under the widget when it's after it. Menu and text are truly separated in two columns 3. Talking about menu, you can see I've got 2 links in my header ("Une Histoire de Bouquins" and "The Voyage"). What I'm looking after is to duplicate it on the right to add other links... But I guess it's HTML rather than CSS and I need to configure the theme itself for this right? But then, have you tips for me to do so? 4. I've got a search bar in the header but on small screens this search bar doesn't show very well: the text that's shown when you click on the button is shown... all time on small screens. So, it's not very... Professional. 5. I ran the plugin Livefyre for the comments but since, the "Leave a comment" (Laisser un commentaire) doesn't scroll down to the comments menu, because the anchor is #respond and not "#comments" or "#livefyre-comments" as the Livefyre's Support told me. So, how I can I manage that? Here is a link to an article for an example I know I'm asking a lot (especially for a first message!) but I've to say I'm kind of lost in all of this. I'm learning HTML/CSS from not so long and I can't figure out how to do this... Thank you a lot in advance!And see you

  18. I want to create a condition for my script. It starts with reading an array, this array can be unlimited, at least 4 up to 40 elements. These elements contain 2 variables. I figured out foreach is a better solution than switch (which I use now) In the next example (simple version of my above purpose) I show what I indicate. <?php $elements = array('Volvo', 'Honda', 'Ford'); ?> <form method="post"> <select name="menudrop"> <?php foreach ($elements as $value) : ?> <option value="<?php echo $value ?>"><?php echo $value ?></option> <?php endforeach; ?> </select> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> <?php if (in_array($_POST['menudrop'], $elements)){ echo 'Clients enjoy eating a ' . $_POST['menudrop']; } ?> The problem is an error. The line with the error is: if (in_array($_POST['menudrop'], $elements)) what exactly does this error mean? The script is running and all things are executed like I intended, but I still get an error message at the screen. Notice: Undefined index:
  19. Hello, (please accuse me for not using technical terms correctly and such, I am a newbie) I'm trying to add an "active" class to two buttons in a nav goes to the main/top section button and the other on the btn in the drop down. The code that I'm using works, but I have to do this for three pages and when I add the others some buggy stuff starts to happen. Here's the code that I'm using (at least for the home page and the "public safety" section of the site): <script> var current = window.location.href; if ( current == "" || current == "" || current == "" ){ jQuery('#mainmenu > li > a[href=/index.htm]').parent().addClass("current-menu-item"); } else if ( current == "" ){ jQuery('.sub-menu > li > a[href$=/motorola/accessories/public-safety/]').parent().addClass("current-menu-item"), jQuery('#mainmenu > li > a[href$=/public-safety/index.htm]').parent().addClass("current-menu-item"); } else if ( current.indexOf("") > -1 || current.indexOf("") > -1 ){ jQuery('#mainmenu > li > a[href$=/public-safety/index.htm]').parent().addClass("current-menu-item"); }</script> The code in red is where I seem to be running into a problem. As you can see I'm just separating the two .addClass lines with a "comma". I have a feeling that's not legit. I tried to find the correct way to go about this, but with no luck. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, m@

  22. Hello W3S! It's been a while since i've been online here... sorry about that Anyways. I have some trouble with a dynamic menu i'm trying to make with MySQLI... not sure if that is the problem anyhow... Here is the code as a start, i will explain under the code below what i'm trying to do: // File that we are on (viewing / watching)$tab = pathinfo( $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'], PATHINFO_FILENAME );$menu_res = query("SELECT * FROM menu WHERE menu_file_url = ".$tab);$menu_row = mysqli_fetch_row($menu_res);if( $tab == $menu_row['menu_file_url'] || $menu_row['menu_accessible'] == "no" ) stderr("Page Error", "We are currently working on this page! Go to another page to keep browsing! Thanks for your patience! :)");if(isset($CURUSER)){ $menu_while_res = query(" SELECT * FROM menu WHERE menu_accessible = 'yes' AND menu_view = 'user' OR menu_view = 'both' ORDER BY menu_order_id ASC");}else{ $menu_while_res = query(" SELECT * FROM menu WHERE menu_accessible = 'yes' AND menu_view = 'guest' OR menu_view = 'both' ORDER BY menu_order_id ASC");}$HTMLOUT .= "<ul class='nav_first'>"; while ($menu_while_row = mysqli_fetch_array($menu_while_res, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) { // Menu Items Loaded Here $tabarray = array( $menu_while_row['menu_array_id_name'] => "<li><a href='".$menu_while_row['menu_file_url']."'>".$menu_while_row['menu_name']."</a></li>", ); // K = Key // V = Value foreach($tabarray as $k => $v) { if( $tab == $k ) $HTMLOUT .= str_replace("<li>", "<li class='nav_active'>", $v); else $HTMLOUT .= $v; } // Unset Menu For re-load again unset($tabarray); }$HTMLOUT .= "</ul>"; Currently i'm trying to make a dynamic menu with MySQLI! It's working perfectly... but when i tried to "expand" the project a bit longer and try to make a dynamic menu with errors on pages if the users are not allowed to view a specific file, then i get nothing... What i'm trying to do is to controle in the database with "Enum" as my DB setup that is "no" is has been set on one of the menu items (menu_accessible).. then the item will NOT show on the menu! AND if the user still tries to enter that specific page by URL, he will then get an error message saying that we are working on the website page... The code i'm trying to insert into this project is this little peace of code here: // File that we are on (viewing / watching)$tab = pathinfo( $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'], PATHINFO_FILENAME );$menu_res = query("SELECT * FROM menu WHERE menu_file_url = ".$tab);$menu_row = mysqli_fetch_row($menu_res);if( $tab == $menu_row['menu_file_url'] || $menu_row['menu_accessible'] == "no" ) stderr("Page Error", "We are currently working on this page! Go to another page to keep browsing! Thanks for your patience! :)"); However, i get no respond on the code! Even when i have checked if the "$tab" variable is real and related to the name inside the DB (which it is!)... so if possible, can anyone help and tell me what i'm doing wrong here Oo? Thanks alot by the way! And sorry for the long goodbye hehe ...studies and all, killing me! -.-' Anyways, hope some answers or good tips... really need this one Thanks in advance! Mr rootKID
