There are sites that are 60% ads, and some that place a few relevant ads on the side. People don't like ads so the more you have, the less returning visitors you'll get. The key is find a good balance of ads so that you're making money, and not losing many visitors. I've almost forgotten what ads are, thanks to ad-blocking extensions.
