well the host provider is recovered after attacking and I can enter my old site, I think the problem is it lost DNS system, so don't know where to point to my site :) one more question, I enter my database manager, it says Space Quota: 10MUsed Space: 0.96MDoes it mean the capacity of my database (.sql file) only reach 10M ?Thanks !!!

Yes and no. It means that your DB can only reach 10MB in size as present on the server. However, your SQL file (as in "the one you get from PHPMyAdmin") may be larger because it includes the various "INSERT" statements needed to restore the DB from this file. But your DB (as in "your data") may not exceed 10MBs.

I understand having this pinned when it was high traffic and posts were up to date but the most recent post was over a year ago (besides mine) and before that was 2 years ago.I just dont see getting any help on this one. Even more so since I posted it like 2 weeks ago.

I think the hosting market has changed a lot - the trend is more towards a small number of large providers and there are less small services with a primarily free business model. Also, companies have become more similar in terms of price and features, so people have less incentive to switch (except for support issues) or investigate alternatives. Personally, I use Media Temple, which has good shared deals and are generally reliable. For VPS hosting, I have heard good things about Slicehost.

Well, there are different types of hosting (e.g. shared v dedicated), and some hosts have more features (e.g. Perl, unlimited databases)... but until you find that you really need something your current host doesn't offer, shopping around is probably going to be rather futile.

"Host and DNS Discussion. All here and nowhere else"Here meaning this thread? So if I want to ask if there is a reputable "Consumer Reports" or BBB for web hosting companies is this where I ask the question? Where would I find this? Thanks.

Do a search for web hosting reviews. I can't vouch for any of those sites, I'm not sure if any of them are run by hosts or not.
Thanks, I will try to search through this thread. I tried going to... http://www.bbb.org/u...ted-businesses/ ...but they foolishly can only search by specific locations, and a name search for "Go Daddy" turned up nothing. I don't care where a web host is located as long as they are inside the USA. Edit-- Actually the web seems to be increasingly flooded with "fake" or obviously manufactured review sites.
