cclloyd9785
I noticed that for a bunch of CSS stuff, it says it's not supported in internet explorer, even though it lists stuff like -webkit- -o- and -moz-. I noticed that all of them, when -ms- was added, it worked fine in IE9.
jeffman
Strictly speaking, when you add something like -moz- to the name a property, it is not the same property. It is a property the browser uses as a kind of substitute property until it implements the standard version of the property. In some cases, browsers have used this strategy with properties that have not been 100% determined by the W3C. using a -moz- type version means that if the exact syntax for the real property changes when it becomes official, a million web pages won't fail.
