birbal
[] it is used to declare character class. Character inside it will be used to compare individually. ^ is negate character if used inside character class. Means [^f] will try to match any character other than 'f'. [^\]] it tells to match any charcter other than ']' as ']' character itself used in charcter class so it needs to be escaped. Hence '\]' used. + is quantifier which tells to match for 1 or more characters. Edited June 16, 2013 by birbal
