There is also a widely used set of coding recommendations out there that says this: The keyword elseif SHOULD be used instead of else if so that all control keywords look like single words. I personally ignore a lot of those recommendations, but if you are ever employed as a developer, you may be required to use them. (You might also be required to use a different set, too.)
