TinyTubbs
I'm hoping someone can help me. As far as I know, the coding is correct for the accordion and heading and content. If you go to http://sdda.sd.gov/office-of-the-secretary/ag-summit/default.aspx and click on "Previous Years Videos", you can see the whole screen jump instead of just expand. Also, if you click on a year, the whole accordion closes. I have no idea what to do! I can copy and paste the coding here, but if you're able to just look at it from the website, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
justsomeguy
What code deals with the accordions? It looks like the problem is that it doesn't expect them to be nested, but maybe there's a way to tell it to check for that. I don't see any screen jumping in my browser though. TinyTubbs
I don't see the jumping anymore either. The picture of cows would jump side to side while expanding.
justsomeguy
Do you have any Javascript code that you added for the accordions? Does jQuery or one of those plugins just automatically look for elements with those class names or did you have to kick something off?
TinyTubbs
I don't think there is anything extra. I'm using Dreamweaver CS 5.5 and am not 100% familiar with it. Took a day and a half class through the state and have been kind of teaching myself. I just put in the accordion code from above and it shows up like that. I'm not sure if it's because there are accordions within an accordion or if it's because there are so many videos so it slows it down. I'll post the coding for the whole page. justsomeguy
Yes, it's because there are nested accordions. Whatever Javascript code controls those figures out that you clicked on an element with the class accordionHeading, which means you're expanding an accordion, so it closes all of the other accordions without checking if the one you clicked on is a child of another one. That's what would need to be changed, but if you don't know what Javascript code is running all of that then that's a problem. You need to know where to make the changes. It looks like you have a file called script.js, and there is some accordion code there that starts on line 180. That's probably what controls those opening and closing, so I would start there to look at making changes.
