Link to specific PowerPoint slide from HTML web page

Hi all - I'm trying to hyperlink from a web page to a specific slide in Powerpoint 2013.  I thought coding as follows would do the trick (the pound sign and slide number at the end):

/mypowerpoint.pptx#5

However when clicking on the link, it opens up to the first slide and not the fifth - any ideas?

I'm pretty sure browsers can't open powerpoint files on their own. If your browser is showing anything at all, there's probably a plug-in running, you would have to see if the plug-in offers such a feature.

Thanks Ingolme - in doing additional research I found reference to 2003-2010 versions allowing linking to specific slides, but apparently in PowerPoint 2013 it's been deprecated.  will continue to see if I can validate this info.
