Then probably, we will be reading a bunch of repetitive questions being asked all over and over and over again.

And please forum members, please dont post for the sake of increasing your post count. Post for the sake of answering questions being asked.

And if you wish to promote your website here, we cant/wont stop you with it, but please do it in an ETHICAL way. There is no excuse for not having any manners/ethics.

And lastly, this forum, in my humble opinion, is used for answering questions (or some code snippets) not for asking for full/complete scripts.

So I tried converting some of them and it was only 2-3kb per recipe instead of 20-30kb. What a huge amount of space saved!

Now that I read about XML, I think that it is appropriate for me to store my recipes in XML format instead of XHTML. The problem is I have a whole lot of XHTML files and I want to convert them to XML fast.

I still have a few Microsoft Word documents that I plan to convert to XML manually, but is there a way to XMLize the XHTML documents in a fast manner. I'm guessing not because XHTML elements are defined, but XML elements are made up, then defined in the DTD, Schema, or whatever.

After going through all 11 pages in this forum (yeah, slow lazy day) and not finding this suggestion, I could have missed it though I suppose, I thought what the heck at the very least someone will get a chuckle out of my suggestion.

Since there is so much PAIN and AGONY in the browser world of compatibility why not come up with a "Browser Validator", you know something like the W3.org has for HTML, CSS, and the like; only it would validate the code for each browser type (a validator tool for each browser type)

I'm not sure how plausible something like this would be, I suppose since each browser manufactures has their own way of doing things that the validator would have to be authored by them; in which case getting them to agree on something like this could be just as easy as getting them to agree on one standard format.


Anyway just a thought, but if this is already available then "PLEASE" point me there.

    it repeats the products from one table which is good. But when it comes to displaying the data from another table, it seems to repeat the same product in accordance to the data in the second table.

    what you are looking at is the first product being repeated several times . This product should have ABCD next to it only ,not to have it displayed as it is doing so.

    example of how it should be displayed

    3 level <--- Both of these are pulled from the first table
    product image
    ABCD <---this is pulled from the second table

    and then so on for each of the products.

    i dont know why its displaying it like that.

    any help would be nice.

    My problem is that when I log in with the correct info, the login page reloads and if I refresh the page or click login again without any info in the fields, I'm redirected to the secure folder and I'm logged in. For some reason I have to reclick or refresh the page myself. Same thing happens on logout. I have to reclick the logout button.

    The short answer is, you can't. Basically, any site where you want the visitor/client/user to be able to interact with something on the website, you need what is called Serverside Technologies, that is a Programming Language that executes commands and processes the input from the visitor/client/user, and a Database of some sort that the Programming Language can use as storage space. Look under "Server Scripting" and ".NET (dotnet)" for some popular Programming Languages. Some more that (as of now) are not covered by w3schools include Cold Fusion (CF) and Java Server Pages (JSP) to name a few.

    Email form to yourself
    You'll need to define the action attribute in your form element. Like so

    It is recommended to use server-side scripting languages such as asp, php, coldfusion... to handle a form. This way the user which submits your form won't need to have a mailing application on his computer and you have more power over the data that is sent to you.

    Linking within a document
    Links that link within a document work almost the same way as external links using the <A> tag. However, there is an extra step involved. With these types of links you have to create the link and the target.

    This is how you link to a specific section in a document.

    When you are linking in the same document where the section is you may remove the url in front of the #.

    Deprecated Elements
    Older HTML tags and attributes that have been superseded by other more functional or flexible alternatives (whether as HTML or as CSS) are declared as deprecated in HTML4 by the W3C - the consortium that sets the HTML standards. Browsers should continue to support deprecated tags and attributes, but eventually these tags are likely to become obsolete and so future support cannot be guaranteed.

    ADVANCED
    When to use IDs and Classes
    Classes aren't always necessary! If every <p> element is going to have the same style, adding a class to every paragraph is redundant at best.
    IDs should be unique on a page. Let me repeat that: don't reuse IDs! Remember that ID is an abbreviation for "identifier". Use IDs to target specific, individual elements.
    Classes are meant to be reused. They work great for things like alternating background colors in table rows. (Give every second row a class="alt-bg", for example.)

    When to use DIVs and SPANs

    Overview
    The primary difference between the <span> and <div> tags is that <span> doesn't do any formatting of it's own. The <div> tag acts includes a paragraph break, because it is defining a logical division in the document. The <span> tag simply tells the browser to apply the style rules to whatever is within the <span>.

    DIV
    The <div> tag defines logical divisions (defined) in your Web page. It acts a lot like a paragraph tag, but it divides the page up into larger sections.

    <div> also gives you the chance to define the style of whole sections of HTML. You could define a section of your page as a call out and give that section a different style from the surrounding text.

    But that's not all it does! The <div> tag gives you the ability to name certain sections of your documents so that you can affect them with style sheets or Dynamic HTML.

    One thing to keep in mind when using the <div> tag is that it breaks paragraphs. It acts as a paragraph end/beginning, and while you can have paragraphs within a <div> you can't have a <div> inside a paragraph.

    SPAN

    This would be supervised by the administrators and moderators of this forum. They would assign each member a small piece to do within a deadline, and then collect it and place it on a free server. Then the administrator (or one of the moderators, whoever will be the Project Manager) will put all of these parts together and create a HUGe project. Maybe give some people jobs to make forms, polls, etc. Then others could write a css layout, others could do a database in MySQL. Someone could make an admin panel in ASP and JS etc etc etc. THERE ARE MANY IDEAS AND POSSIBILITIES!

    I think that this would be a great idea, and I would appreciate any feedback on this matter.

    It's an Instant Messanger. But not just any IM. It has one unique ability... it's what we've been dreaming for: Allowing each participant to edit a text file, which of course can be in any programming language. Special highlighing shows who edited the code. There's Syntax Highlighting for some popular languages. The best part is a group may even edit few files in a session and each member can save a copy any time.

    I haven't tryed it yet, due to a lack of anyone to code with, but I saw screenshots and I read a review... all of that two days ago.

    Basically what I have is a page where it lists a table of people, and various pieces of data (city/state/name/id/whatever...). There are different layouts that display different data, and you can filter and sort by just about everything displayed on every layout.

    The way it works is a large SQL query is built depending on what needs to be displayed/filtered/sorted.

    After that huge query is built it is passed onto a custom tag, which executes the query, and then loops through the result set to display the data.

    Now normally if I wanted to sort by something I would simply add an ORDER BY clause onto my query and then the already ordered result set would be sent to the custom tag and all would be well in the universe, however in one case, I can't do that.

    The problem is with the person's "rank". The rank its self isn't explicitly stored in the database, only several criteria which are updated monthly, which are used to calculate the rank. No...I can not just add rank to the database, I don't care to explain it more than that, but I can't.

    I can call a getRank() method on an ID to get the rank. btw the ranks are Strings like A, EA, BTL, STL, GTL, PTL.

    So...

    does anybody have any ideas on how I could sort by rank? I was thinking something along the lines of creating an array with ID/Rank in it, then sorting that, and then querying all the data somehow...

    im in the process of converting a .swf to .mpeg. trying to find a good, free converter without watermarks. Reason is I want to go and put this flash movie on Youtube. Thing is that in my movie I also have FLV files which cannot be exported from flash itself to a mpeg file.

    Please help!
