Template I made in 30 minutes

I think the links are hard to read, no enough colours, almost all solid colours except for your links. Kinda easy to tell that it's been made in 30 mins.

Why is everyone in such a rush these days. I don't even have to look at it. Can you (or anyone) tell me why it is so apparently impressive to build a website faster than I can type supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?Assuming that you copied and pasted the stylesheet (once you created it) into the body of your page and assuming that you used the standard principle of time of site planning = time of site development, here are my conclusions:You have average typing skills at 61.6 words per minute. This site seems to be nothing more than an experiment yet there are folks who might use it. But I am too conditioned to think that websites are built for a purpose which this one would not be conducive to other than proving that you know a little HTML and CSS and can upload a page to a website.

I agree with the before-said. To few and similar colours. I also browsed your website, and what you have to say on making templates for html pages:http://www.freewebs.com/hazardzone101/html.html

Helpful tips:When making a website...
  1. Always use a layout/template, it helps so much in organizing your info in the actual code and when you look at it.
  2. Be sure that your website is attractive! I don't know what your opinion is on the way my site looks, but I know that it isn't very dull in appearance.
  3. And for choosing colors, pay attention to these options:
    • Use either one general color for the theme, varying in shades
    • Use contradicting colors that look nothing alike, but still match, like my colors of neon green, other shades of green, and black.
    • Have movement, maybe not literally, but gradients can help a lot to not make your website not so dull

[*]And also, use CSS, its a great way to simply add many special features to your website!

I must say I pretty much wholeheartedly disagree with all the points under #3...Using one general colour, or shades, like you have done with the blue site, is not good. You further contradict yourself, saying you should use contradicting (I assume you mean contrasting) colours that look nothing alike and yet match. Neon green and black is not a good combination, as neon green is an extremely bright colour while black is as dark as it gets. It strains the eyes over time. Movement, if you're thinking about stuff like <blink> and <marquee>, is horrible on your website and can actually drive people away from sheer annoyance. And a website shouldn't be aimed at not being dull, it should be aimed at being pleasant and functional.

Not much point in posting a template you spent 30 mins on with no doctype or even page title. You shouldnt hurry the process. Good design requires attention to detail. ive seen a few of your designs at this point and i think the major flaw with each has been a poor color palette. ditch the neon colors and try some lighter hues. heres an example of a nice palette:color154.gif the four colors to the right are monochromatic (tints and shades of a single color & a standard way of forming a complimentry color scheme) and then a pale orange tetradic color livins it up a bit. Its alot easier and pleasing to the eye than neon on black.Hope this helps :)

Kristian_C: Not enough contrast. The texture on your banner, navigation and footer are clouds from PS. Not really original... Same issue as first poster. Color palette!

Thanks for the post Prateek, but if you are not going to offer any constructive criticism, then don't bother posting (in any thread for that matter). So, please do expand on why you feel this template does not meet your standards. Offer some alternatives to its coding or suggest something that might help its design to be more appealing. Otherwise, bite your tongue.
