Hiding page title?

I am using wordpress with a child theme of simple-catch and am stuck for more than a week now on how to make the damn page titles disapear from the pages! I've tried adding#page-title {display: none;} to my custom css but it doesnt do anything, also tried the same for changing colour which also didnt work so I am guessing its the #page-title part that is wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? The site is offline but I will paste the parent css file here:
