  1. I am looking for code that will help locate where a user clicks inside a textarea. I only need to identify which row the user clicks in. I would like to highlight the entire line and then bring the information from that line back into the form fields for the user to edit. The information is ended by '\n' so I can search for that to create the selection area. And I already have the data in an array, so the info is in the format that I need it to be. I do not want the user to edit the textarea directly so I have it set as readonly.Any suggestions?
  2. What is the difference between these twoaction="$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']" and action="webpage with form.php"I am trying to perform server side validation and then if everything is ok start a new login session.
  3. This is exactly what I have been working on. The method I use is this://Start of page<?phpif (isset($_POST['Any form field']){ //server side validation code?> <html> <head> <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="5;URL=another-page.html"> </head> <body> <!--WEB page content stating the user will be redirected in 5 seconds--> </body> </html>}else{?> <html> <!--WEB page with form--> </html><?php}?>the number after CONTENT is the number of seconds of the delay and the URL is the webpage the user will be taken to after those 5 seconds elapse.

    Mail Troubles

OK I figured it out.The server is a unix server so all I had to do was make a call to the unix @mail command. Everything works fine now.BTW I already paid for 1 year of service for unlimited web hosting in advance, so it is not an option to discontinue my account, they already have my money

    Mail Troubles

I have been trying to get my webhost server to send out an email using php for a week now with no success.I have tried using the built in mail function. It won't work because my outgoing server requires authentication.I have tried using PEAR::Mail with all three back ends, mail, sendmail and smtp.I have tried downloading several form handlers that offer form-to-email processing. Those are all so complicated that it defeats what I am trying to accomplish.I have tried using cgiemail with no success.I am trying to develop a double opt-in user registration. The user enters their name and their email. Then they hit the submit button. What happens behind the scenes:I collect the username, email address, the website name that they signed in from and an md5 code of the secret information. This information is entered into a database. I send them an email with a link to the confirm subscription processing page. This link contains the md5 code of their information. Then I will perform a lookup of the md5 code from the email to transfer their information from pending user to active user.BUT I CAN"T GET MY SERVER TO SEND THE DARN EMAIL!!I even sent in a trouble ticket to my web host and they informed me that they do not intend to change their server configuration.Any suggestions?
  6. Ok I figured it out. For anyone else out there that may run in to this same problem here is how this problem occurred and how it was fixed.I had created the .htaccess file in my main directory containing the following information:RewriteEngine onIndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*AuthName mydomain.com<Limit GET POST>order deny, allowdeny from allallow from all</Limit><Limit PUT DELETE>order deny, allowdeny from all</Limit>RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://mydomain.com/.*$ [NC]RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpe?g|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]The last line is to prevent anyone from leeching pictures from my website. The 'F' flag tells the server to display forbidden if anyone tries to access any pictures. The line above it is used to "whitelist" my website. That means that my website is allowed to have access to the files. The solution:My domain ends in .org not .com, so I was allowing mydomain.com not .org to access my pictures. It only took me three days to figure that one out
  7. I have several different websites posted on one server. All of the websites but one function correctly. The last website will not display any images that are posted on that site. It will display pictures linked from other locations, just not the ones on the server. If I type the url of the image into my web browser I get a Forbidden error, so obviously there is a permission setting somewhere that has been altered. I have performed chmod several times to no avail. I adjusted permissions from within my FTP program, and I have deleted the files and folders completely off the server and then re-uploaded them. But I still cannot get my images to display. The background image from my wordpress installation will not display either, and that image is not stored in the default image folder.I have been searching the internet for an answer to my problem with no success.Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.
