Apologies for taking so long to reply, Don. Haven't been able to get back here for a while. We knew they were Chinese by the fact that there was a great deal of Chinese coding and lettering on our front page.

dsones: Thank you very much, I'll check to see if they do backups. niche: Apparently this is a fairly common "hack" with SocialEngine. -__- Seems to be a common vulnerability issue with the software.

At the request of one of my members, I've changed the look of MPOP. Since the critiques last time mostly centered around the dullness/darkness of the site, I've decided to post version 2.0 for critiques. Honest opinions are always appreciated! And, as before, I know that the site isn't particularly sound as far as the code goes; a lot of that is due to the software I'm using (SocialEngine) which makes it impossible for me to ever validate my site. I feel rather stupid for even asking about this, since I feel like I show know the fix, but it's just not coming to me and I'm not sure where else to look for answers. I have been trying to position a .gif on my site's global header, but whenever I change the zoom setting on my browser, the image moves with it (as opposed to staying where I positioned it). Since I was just complaining about a site's header having an image like this today, I would like fix it if I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Would you mind being a little more specific? How is the homepage a 'mess'? If I knew the specifics, I would know what to improve on. EDIT: I saw the haphazardly-arranged images just now, and fixed it. That was from a recent change to the CSS. I never said that I was a skilled web designer; this is my first project. Also, the site was originally designed on paper. My clients and I also designed a few mock-ups when we were first getting started on it.

Well, we'd love to get some pointers from an expert (such as yourself). Thus far, monetizing this site hasn't been the highest on our list of priorities, but it is time to start getting serious about it. Any suggestions?

And I'm not sure what you mean--the pet pictures are linked from pet albums (using img src, of course) and the 'no image' pictures are from an administrator file manager, so I suppose that counts as pulling from a database. Well, first off, The Market is primarily for our users to sell items. The unifying idea is that there will be very few restrictions. People can advertise whatever they want, and post as many ads as they like. When we do begin to charge for posting a classified ad, our fees will be very low in comparison to many places. Just out of curiosity, have you looked at the site?

The Market, after December 31 of this year. We'll start charging a small fee to advertise certain items. We want to make sure that we have a decent member-base so that the ads will have a decent audience.

I can assure you, I don't knowingly plagiarize other people's code. Any of the custom CSS is my own work. Also, by 'amateurish' -- do you mean simple? Because that was my goal when I designed it; it was meant to be fast and simple, since at least two of the members on my site are using dial-up internet. Thirdly, I don't really understand what you mean by "The content is unimportant to me, yet kinda wacky!!" Is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing? Whether it be suggestions for features to add/remove, site appearance, usability, etc. Anything that catches your eye, feel free to nitpick. Just a word of advice, don't bother to validate the site. The software I'm using makes it impossible to validate HTML or CSS (I didn't know that when I purchased the software, and the company shows no signs of helping with it). Hey there. I sincerely hope I won't have to bother you good folks again for quite a while after this, but there is one more problem I'm having with my slideshow. I found a site that supplies open-source slideshow code, and found a great show that fit my needs. However.......my client wants users to be able to make the slideshow full-screen, which isn't an option for the code. I've seen this functionality at sites like Photobucket, but I have no idea how to do it myself, as I am only a beginner in Javascript. I have asked about this at the site that supplied the code, but have had no luck getting a response so far. So it looks like I may have to find another way, after all. The site's slideshow code is rather complex and long, so I won't post it here unless some brave soul wants to trudge through it. My question is this: how would I make that an option? Is there some general guideline for toggling full-screen on a Javascript slideshow? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi there. It might help if you posted your CSS, as well (the more information, the better). As far as I can see, you might want to play around with margin-top and margin-bottom. It involves some trial-and-error, but I often use it for positioning elements and it works pretty well.

The first problem I saw is that you don't give your server-boxes unique IDs <div id="server-box"> <h1>SERVER 1</h1> <h2 style="color:#900">OFFLINE</h2> </div> <div id="server-box"> <h1>SERVER 2</h1> <h2 style="color:#900">OFFLINE</h2> </div> You need to name the second server-box div "server-box-2", because you have it named that in the CSS sheet, and also so the code won't get confused by having two divs with the same ID. Also, I'm pretty sure you can't call to one attribute twice in a style sheet #server-box, #server-box-2 { background-image: url(../img/backgr.jpg); background-position: center 0; background-repeat: no-repeat; text-align: center; height: auto; width: 235px; /*260px*/ padding: 15pt; margin: auto; margin-top: 10pt; box-shadow: 0pt 0pt 10px rgb(0, 0, 0);}#server-box-2 { margin-left: 90pt;} If you're going to have differences in the styles, even if its just one, I would recommend just copying the values from server-box and copying them to server-box-2 in addition to that "margin-left" value. "margin" by itself generally changes the margins of the whole object. Now, as far as getting the server-boxes on the same line, I would recommend trying "float: left" for both of them. It may take some tweaking to get the exact results you're looking for, though. Since I'm not entirely sure what you want to do with the Maintenance box, I can't help much with that.
