  1. In the HTML tutorials, all images were added from a web location (img src="url"/>), when creating my new site, how do i add the images which are on my computer. Do I have to upload the images to a FTP location on the web first and then create the web pages? OR Should i create everything under one folder on my computer and then upload the entire folder to the web host?

  3. Hi guys! I have turned to this forum beacuse I am tired of serching on the web, this problem is already fuzzing my brain. Well lets start from the beginning. I am building an HTML application, with javascript and xml. My XML file is as below: <cadastro> <instrumento> <diareg>2011/11/25</diareg> <id>0107006</id> <idsetor>1</idsetor> <idgrupo>7</idgrupo> <idsequencia>006</idsequencia> <nome>Escala Graduada de Aço</nome> <modelo>Mecanico</modelo> <fabricante>Stanley</fabricante> <nserie>--</nserie> <capacidademin>0.0</capacidademin> <capacidademax>600.0</capacidademax> <resolucao>0.5</resolucao> <unidade>mm</unidade> <complemento>Escala com duas graduações em milímetro e polegada</complemento> <estado>conforme</estado> <tipocalibra>ci</tipocalibra> <procedimento>IT-FLB-53-CQ-037</procedimento> <proxdiacalib>2012/8/21</proxdiacalib> <periodocalib>365</periodocalib> <ficha> <dia>2011/11/25</dia> <certificado>CQ225/11</certificado> <hiperlink>N/A</hiperlink> <diacalib>2011/8/22</diacalib> <erromin>0.0</erromin> <erromax>0.05</erromax> <erromed>0.025</erromed> <incerteza>0.01</incerteza> <situacao>calibrado</situacao> <historico>Disponível para o uso</historico> <status>Conforme</status> <valor>0</valor> </ficha> </instrumento> <instrumento> <diareg>2011/11/25</diareg> <id>0113025</id> <idsetor>1</idsetor> <idgrupo>13</idgrupo> <idsequencia>025</idsequencia> <nome>Micrômetro Externo</nome> <modelo>Mecanico</modelo> <fabricante>Mitutoyo</fabricante> <nserie>86437051</nserie> <capacidademin>0.0</capacidademin> <capacidademax>25.0</capacidademax> <resolucao>0.01</resolucao> <unidade>mm</unidade> <complemento>Micrometro para medição de canal do Zeta.</complemento> <estado>conforme</estado> <tipocalibra>ci</tipocalibra> <procedimento>IT-FLB-53-CQ-037</procedimento> <proxdiacalib>2012/1/16</proxdiacalib> <periodocalib>60</periodocalib> <ficha> <dia>2011/11/25</dia> <certificado>CQ330/11</certificado> <hiperlink>N/A</hiperlink> <diacalib>2011/11/17</diacalib> <erromin>0.1</erromin> <erromax>0.1</erromax> <erromed>0.1</erromed> <incerteza>0.01</incerteza> <situacao>calibrado</situacao> <historico>Disponível para o CQ</historico> <status>Conforme</status> <valor>0</valor> </ficha> </instrumento></cadastro> I`m using this xml file as a simple database for my application, were I control info about instruments as caliper, micrometer, scales, and a lot of measuring equipment.Well as you can see i have "Cadastro" as my root element, "Instrumento" or instrument is the element that holds the info of the equipment. For my problem i have to query on the xml three elements from "instrumento", they are: <idsetor></idsetor>: this one holds the sector which the equipment belongs to. (its a number)<idgrupo></idgrupo>: this oneindicates the group of the equipment like(Digital caliper, Pressure Gauge,...) (its a number) <idsequencia></idsequencia>: this one indicates the sequential number of the equipment by order of arrival and registry (caliper 001, caliper 002, ...,caliper NNN) the <id></id> is a combination formed by the 3 elements above.Well during the registry I input two variables the sector and the group but the sequential number should be generated automaticaly obeying the sequence of the already registered equipments. my logic is request all the instruments with the same <idsetor> and <idgrupo> and after select from this set, the one with the highest <idsequencia>, and then: idsequencia = idsequencia + 1; Now reading about Xpath in the internet I got to this two Xpaths: 1 - "cadastro/instrumento[idsetor=+IDSETORaux+" and idgrupo="+IDGRUPOaux+]/idsequencia"2 - "/cadastro/instrumento/idsequencia[not(/cadastro/instrumento/idsequencia>.)]" The first returns all the <idsequencia> of all the instruments that have the same idsetor and idgrupo, pointed by the variables IDSETORaux and IDGRUPOaux respectively. The second returns te highest <idsequencia> of all the registered elements. Well I have been playing with this two xpaths, combining them in diferent ways but no success. Now i turn to you and ask, can you help me please???

    Columns

So, here's my question. I can make columns, I can edit the size, I can do all that stuff, but I can't get it to go actively down the page or get it to go into the background, if you need my source or anything please just ask. Also; although I doubt you'll be able to help me on this; is there any way to edit an actual in use source? Or even get a fresh one? I'm doing it for a school project and the one who's supposed to be getting the site is incredibly slow, and I don't have money to buy my own, nor would I spend that money to buy my own. I shall attach a copy of my source, incase you need to see it for whatever reason. Oh god...htm

  8. I wrote a simple HTML web page on my home computer. It appeared fine as both a .txt and .html. But when I transferred (FTP via FileZilla or Core) it to the webhost (GoDaddy) the text was changed and the webpage contained symbols and Chinese characters. http://www.scottyproductions.org/Blog.html. Main site: www.Scottyproductions.org. I finally was able to upload the web pages directly throught the GoDaddey FTP so they are now working/displaying the text properly. I can't figure out why my script changes when it is uploaded to the webhost by FiliZilla or CORE FTP but not by GoDaddy. When you open the "View" Source" from the website, there are many characters which were not in the original script. GoDaddy says that their server is working properly. I have re-downloaded the current FileZilla program; and this also happens when I use Core FTP. I have deleted the file on the server and overwritten and re-transferred the one from my computer (with normal script) but this has not helped. When the HTML page or TXT file appear on the server they contain unusual character. Any idea why or how it can be corrected. It has now been uploaded and works fine so the web pages are OK.
  9. So I am at the part of my website where I need to decide how to display individual products being sold on the website. I want to display the picture, a description, and link it to a paypal account where the individual product can be sold. But I am unsure how to do it. I could do it with HTML easily, but I am wondering if I should use PHP or another programming langauge so I dont have to create 1 page per product, so I dont have to create 50 additional pages. Im thinking that I would have to create a template page using HTML or PHP and then use the programming language to fill in the description and images according to which link (product) they click. How would I do this exactly? I dont have a ton of experience with PHP, am I way over my head? And would PHP would well with PayPal? again, would that be a huge project?
  10. Hi, I am busy testing out a lightbox form that I'm working on and I've got all to work except the "success" or "thank you" page.Basically I want the user to fill in the online form and when the they are click 'submit', the "thank you" message or page resolves in the same lightbox that the form was in. Go to www.testing123.co.za/test.htm and click on that link you see saying "AJAX SuperBox".The lightbox is opening up an HTML page within in the test.htm page (basically acting like an iFrame?).When I click submit, the page resolves to the success.htm page (which it should) but not in the lightbox frame. I don't want visitors to leave the test.htm page. My headers at the bottom of my process php form shows as: '; $headers = "From: $from\r\nBCC:{$bcc}\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-type: text/html\r\n"; $success = mail($to, $subject, $sBodyNew, $headers); header('Location: http://www.testing123.co.za/success.htm'); ?> I assume the Location url above needs code added to it so that it works within the lightbox? Or is there an easier way to do this? Thanks guys!
  11. In a page I have, I have 2 links. each link relates to add or just view. Link 1) is where a user adds an entry. and link 2 is where you can view the entry. look at the code blow: <a href="{SITE_ROOT}blog/addentry.php?bid={BID}" style="margin-left:100px;text-decoration:none">Add Entry</a><a href="{SITE_ROOT}blog/viewentry.php?bid={BID}" style="margin-left:100px;text-decoration:none">View Entries</a> The 1st link. I don't just want any one adding a new entry to this persons blog. I only want the user who made the blog to be a allowed to add to his/her blog. So how can I hide the 1st link from every one other then the user who created the blog.
  12. i want to make it so that what you put in an HTML forum when sent will add to a separate HTML page with the input from the forum inserted into code. For example, on a forum in typeit.html you type "My Name" into the name text box and "This Is My Message" into the message box. You clock submit and it sends it to the PHP page which sends <b>My Name</b><br><p>This Is My message</p><br> to a separate HTML page called mytxt.htmlNote that was an example and what the names of pages and forums are above are different in reality.I already have a code to simple print the text as it is but i don't know how to make code with PHP.Here is the code that I have so far: in photo_main.html <form action="upload_file.php" method="post"enctype="multipart/form-data"><input type="file" name="file" id="file" /> <br />Title:<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="fname"><br>Description:<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="age"><br>Photo Album:<INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="alb"><br><input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /></form> in upload_file.php <?php if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { echo "Return Code: " . $_FILES["file"]["error"] . "<br />"; } else { echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["file"]["name"] . "<br />"; echo "Type: " . $_FILES["file"]["type"] . "<br />"; echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["file"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb<br />"; echo "Temp file: " . $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"] . "<br />"; if (file_exists("images/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"])) { echo $_FILES["file"]["name"] . " already exists. "; } else { move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], "images/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]); echo "Stored in: " . "images/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]; $a_str = array($_POST["fname"],$_POST["age"],$_POST["alb"],$_FILES["file"]["name"]); $contents = implode(PHP_EOL, $a_str); $contents .= PHP_EOL . PHP_EOL; file_put_contents("photos.txt", $contents, FILE_APPEND); print("|$contents|"); } }?> I want to make it so that instead of text going to a txt file I want code going to an HTML file so that i don't have to keep manually putting in uploaded photos. I am going to use an iframe to put in the HTML to a page. If there is a better way than an iframe that would be great too. I hope I was not confusing.
  13. Hi. After a lot of studying I've learned how to create valid xml schemas and data files, and I've been able to display some of that data on a web page but not all of it. For example, if there are multiple <city> nodes under a <state> node, I've been able to display all of the state nodes in the file using "for-each select" and "value-of select", but only the first city in each state; none of the other cities. How do I display multiple items at a subordinate level like cities in a state? Thanks.
  14. Hi, I operate a website - www.afilmcanon.com - on the squarespace operating system. There's an html formatting option. At the moment, I've formatted my entries so that the text is justified on both the right and left sides. However, I am wondering if there is an html code that distributes the text so that it is not only justified on both side, but ends at the very end of the bottom line, ie provides a symmetrical block of text. I've checked a few html code sites, but to no avail so far. Kind regards,Billy
  15. Hi all, I'd like to display a page of HTML after a short delay. My first approach, which works, was to enclose the HTML markup inside a document.write() function and call that function from setTimeout(), e.g. something like this: t1 = setTimeout("writePage()", 10000);...function writePage() {document.write("<h1>Hello World!</h1>");} But this can get quite complicated with a longer page with styling, as I'll have to escape all quote marks with a backslash, and also add line-continuation characters. And it really gets hairy if I want to include a navbar with its own document.write() functions within the HTML that's already nested within a document.write(). Is there a better way? Is there some way to implement a simple wait(n) function that just waits for n milliseconds before proceeding?
  16. hello there w3teachers and friends. I have some question. I believe that I actually have wrote like a several tens of thousand line of script. But, just a few weeks ago, I met some script that changed a bit of my belief. Well, simply let me make turn the question into some example: case 1: <?phpif($foo == "foo"){echo "<span>some statement is running</span>";}?> case 2:<?phpif($foo != "foo"){?><span>theres no running statement</span><?php}?> okay, the example script that has changed my belief is the second case. So, my question is:1. which example do you thing is good for practice 2. I can see that sometimes, the second case is easier, but sometimes may burden since I need to write <?php echo ;?> to instill some php in it. Thanks a lot and give a comment!!
  17. I want to make it so that when you hit the submit button, the text in the text box is added onto a separate html document. Don't explain how, just give me a code example and some basics on it.
  18. Hi, I have an HTML table of variable size (it is actualy a grid on the server) and I have a problem to print it in IE 8. When a page break occures the content is cut off in the middle of the row. I tried to use javascript to calculate the position of the tr tag relative to page length and then set the pageBreakBefore attribute, but this is not my favorite solution. Firefox seems to handle printing automatically, without any css or jscript required, but I nedd it to work in IE too. I would appriciate any kind of help. Tnx in advance

    Ie 9 Bug?

for some reason there is a gray line which randomly appears on the left of all my content. This is only limited to IE 9. I don't know why this is occuring and ive never run into this problem. To see what im talking about, visit this link http://w.greenlabelgraphics.com in IE 9, switch to dev tools and view in IE 8, or 7, or view in diff browser such as Safari, FF, Chrome... Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.
  20. Ive been working with HTML since the 7th grade so I know how it works for the most part. I can look at any html script and tell what does what and how to edit it, but never tried learning how to actually write it from scratch, until now. I want to start making websites asap and looking through the html course i notice that i know/understand most of whats in the basic (except for some vocabulary and name of parts). I am still taking my time through it to make sure I don't miss anything. My question is, how much of the language am I supposed to memorize and know at the top of my head?Should i take the time to memorize every little thing before continuing (like this http://w3schools.com/tags/default.asp) or should I go through the whole course, learn the basics, and look back only when i need to, and eventually i'll end up memorizing most of it?

    Html Forms

Apologies if this is in the wrong section! I am sorting out a site that has a t&c section before the user enters the website, basically people need to accept the terms and conditions of the site - then enter their email address, when the user hits submit the email they enter needs to be sent to my email address, and then the page redirects to the home pageI have basically got it in essence the only thing i cant seem to make it do is send the email address they enter to my email address - this is the code I have so far:<----------form method="post" onsubmit="this['redirect'].value = this['redirect'].value + '?EMAIL=' + this['email'].value;" action="/?page_id=4"><div align="left"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Email:<input type="text" size="20" name="email"><input type="submit" name="submit" class="home-sections" value="Accept"><input type="hidden" value="/?page_id=4=" name="redirect"><input type="hidden" value="myemail@myemail.com" name="mailto"><br></font> </div></form-----------> If anyone can help on point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
  22. At this address: http://into.net23.net/ beyond the index page lies just one other file, an .html page, on that page is a string of characters. This is a website created to test security for a website at a different address, it is my hope to keep paid content there using this format, without using any genuine security. I have tried all i know to find the page, download the entire website. nothing has yielded this page yet. Can anyone find this page and tell me what this string of characters is please? Or is it genuinely secure?
