  2. Soooo I am taking a class called Electronic Commerce. My professor is is requiring us to make a website "selling" a product (not for real) and the website must use html 5, php and sql. He is not going to waste class time teaching us these because this is a "capstone" class and we should already be familiar. Well Html 5 I am ok with, but SQL and PHP, I am so lost. As far as I can figure out, the SQL is for my database. I have already gathered the jpgs, made a database of the spices with prices I will sell. I am not really sure how to attack this project and any help will by greatly appreciated. There is no mention of this project in his syllabus and folks that have taken his class before said that he doesn't even grade this project, I really just want to have something to turn in just in case. Thanks
  3. Hello all, this is my first attempt at a real website to be posted in the future. It's at it's very basic stages. I've noticed a problem with the layout that needs fixing with Chrome, Firefox, and IE9. When the page is zoomed in or out, the layout shifts. How do I prevent this? HTML5 CODE: (Passes the W3C Validator) <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta name="author" content="Joseph Maxwell Davies" /> <meta name="keywords" content="nomad, video, siblings, nomadic siblings, torah, teachings, articles" /> <title>Nomadic Siblings</title> <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="home.css" hreflang="en" media="screen" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="home.js"></script> </head><body> <div id="container"> <div id="webpagebanner"> <header> <hgroup> <h1>Nomadic Siblings</h1> </hgroup> </header> <div> </div> </div> <div id="leftsidebar"> <section id="logo"> <div> </div> </section> <nav id="leftsidebarnav"> <ul> <li>Home</li> <li>Videos</li> <li>Articles</li> <li>Contact Us</li> </ul> </nav> </div> <div id="maincontent"> <section> <div id="featuredcontent"> <figure> <!--<video height="320" width="480" controls="controls" poster=""> <source src="Wildlife.m4v" type="video/mp4" /> Your browser does not support HTML5 video please upgrade to one of the following: Chrome, Firefox, or IE9 </video>--> <img src="http://zipline.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/chanukah.jpg" alt="menorah" width="480" height="320" /> </figure> </div> <div class="featureselector"> </div> <div class="featureselector"> </div> <div class="featureselector"> </div> <div class="featureselector"> </div> <div class="featureselector"> </div> </section> </div> <div id="webpagefoot"> <footer> </footer> </div> </div> </body></html> CSS Code: body {/*background-image: url(https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRmopGs4E8JPZw2QSogetRzxjFhMbEPlyS8kY6hBd5mhgYQr-H4);*/background-color: #B57F35;}@font-face { font-family: Dumb1; src: url('2Dumb.ttf');}@font-face { font-family: Dumb2; src: url('3Dumb.ttf');}#container {/*background-color: white;*/width: 960px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;}#webpagebanner {background-color: #EBE5AB;width: 790px;height: 150px;float: right;clear: right;border-top-right-radius: 25px;}#webpagebanner header hgroup h1 { text-align: center; width: 450px; margin-top: 35px; margin-left: 30px; /*background-color: white;*/ font-family: Dumb1; font-size: 42px;}#webpagebanner div { color: green; width: 700px; border: #B34242 solid 1px; margin-left: 45px;}#leftsidebar {background-color: #D9CE57;width: 169px;height: 760px;float: left;clear: left;border-right: blue solid 1px;}#logo { padding-top: 24px; padding-bottom: 24px; padding-left: 34px; padding-right: 34px; background-color: #D9CE57;} #logo div { height: 100px; width: 100px; background-color: red; border: black solid 1px; border-radius: 45px; }#leftsidebarnav { position: fixed;} #leftsidebarnav li { list-style-type: none; margin-top: 8px; margin-left: -1em; border-top: black solid 1px; border-bottom: black solid 1px; width: 120px; text-align: center; font-size: large; } #leftsidebarnav li:hover { background-color: white; opacity: 0.5; }#maincontent {background-color: #EBE5AB;width: 790px;height: 760px;float: left;}#maincontent section { border-bottom: black dashed 1px; padding-top: 15px; padding-bottom: 35px; padding-left: 164px; padding-right: 164px;} #maincontent section #featuredcontent { width: 480px; height: 320px; border: black solid 1px; border-radius: 50px; background-color: green; opacity: 0.5; overflow: hidden; } #maincontent section #featuredcontent figure { margin: 0px; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 50px; } #maincontent section .featureselector { width: 8px; height: 8px; border: black solid 2px; border-radius: 8px; float: right; margin-right: 10px; margin-top: 8px; background-color: red; }#webpagefoot {background-color: yellow;width: 960px;clear: both;} I use a local font but it's not really a big deal that you can't see it. How can I fix the layout so that it does not shift? P.S. Yes it's ugly right now, it's mostly laid out to show me the measurements and how the page is to be divided. Like I said it's bare bones. Or if better I have the files attached as well. But can't upload the ttf.... sorry about that. home.css index.html

  5. Hello!I have to correct syntax errors in a document that looks something like this: <!DOCTYPE html><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title>Title</title></head><body><p>content</p></body></html>There are a lot of syntax errors in the full verision of the document, but some end tags like </p> are also missing. I don't know if I'm supposed to add tags like </p> because if this document is HTML5 it isn't necessary.When I validate the document at http://validator.w3.org/check it says that it is HTML5, but <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> makes me wonder...Can anyone please tell me if this is a HTML5 or XHTML document? I usually close all tags but since I'm supposed to correct syntax errors I'm not sure if I should close all tags because the validator (which says that it's HTML5) doesn't say that a missing end tag is a syntax error. I mean, if it's HTML5 my teacher shouldn't be allowed to complain about it... Do you think I will fail the assignment if I don't close all tags? Thanks!

  9. I seem to have gotten in over my head with this project. I spent most of the day just typing out code, without the ability to debug it due to slow browser speed. When I got off work I started correcting my syntax errors, which didn't take very long. Unfortunately, I have spent many hours trying to resolve some sort of logic error in the game which is apparently a very serious one, as it prevents any of my sprites from appearing. The fillRect() function is showing up perfectly, but the drawImage() function is not. I will go ahead and post the whole game code, as it is pretty concise by my own meager standards. I am a noob to javascript and coding in general, and this will probably show. That being said, I really expected this to work, and would certainly appreciate any help which is on offer. Upon previewing my post I noticed that spacing differences rendered my map array unreadable. I have decided to attach a text file (as I am not permitted to upload .js files) instead of pasting. I hope this is acceptable. script.txt

    HTML5 vs HTML

  14. Hi I have created a simple HTML5 drag and drop game. However, I am having a nightmare trying to get all current browsers to display the message "THIS BROWSER SUPPORTS / DOES NOT SUPPORT DRAG AND DROP." The message displays correctly in I.E.9, Chrome, Firefox and Opera. But Safari for Windows displays 'This Browser SUPPORTS Drag and Drop', even though it doesn't. I've changed the JS from if(Modernizr.draganddrop) to if(window.FileReader && Modernizr.draganddrop). It works, but then I.E.9 displays 'This Browser DOES NOT Support Drag and Drop' even though it does. I'm using Modernizr and I suspect that I need to edit this - but I just don't know how to do that. This is the section of code I'm referring to: if(Modernizr.draganddrop){ document.write("This browser supports Drag and Drop");}else{ document.write("This browser does not support HTML5 Drag and Drop ");} In the <head> there is: <script src="../scripts/modernizr.js"></script> I've spent days on this but got nowwhere. Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks George

  16. Hi there, my name is Bridget and I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a content producer and I'm looking for someone to build some children's stories into HTML5 web pages. The stories are currently available as apps (iTunes) but in order for them to be accepted under the Australian Curriculum, they need to be in HTML5. I have all the artwork and assets ready for rebuilding into HTML5. This is a great work experience project for a student or recent grad. Payment = a share of profit. If this sounds like you, please contact me on bridget.cull@gmail.com
  17. I am almost a newbie at css3 and html5. when I was looking up image sizing in w3schools it said something to the effect that html5 no longer supports image sizing in per cents? I have Internet Explorer 8 for one design veiw browser, firefox, Chrome and safari are the other ones. Anyway the per cent sizing seems to be working in all browsers except IE8, is there a work around for the IE8 issue. The width works fine it's the height that is the problem. I'm not going to spend $100.00 just for an Internet Explorer browser. I know I need to update my os to windows 10 is it? but not at this time. Personal reasons. I do responsive website designing and px is not responsive. Isn't responsive the future way of the internet any more, with all the mobile devices out there?

I found out that input required attribute requires "that an input field must be filled out before submitting the form." like this... <form action="demo_form.asp">Username: <input type="text" name="usrname" required><input type="submit"></form> My question is: Is it possible also to use input required attribute in select? like this... <select name="gender" required><option value="" selected="selected">Choose...</option><option value="male">Male</option><option value="female">Female</option></select> I want to validate gender field if it has already value (male or female)otherwise will not submit like what input required attribute can do Thank you.
  22. I know that HTML5 provides Drag and Drop and is a powerful tool for it. However I just used it successfully for dragging and dropping HTML elements, HTML codes and Files. What other thing can I do with this feature? For example can I drag an address from the address bar and drop it on a text box? or can I do it reversely?

  24. Hey everyone, I have been scouring the internet trying to solve this layout problem but I haven't found a solution - I want my article section to line up next to my nav bar properly. Using <float> left or right just pushes it above or below the nav bar as you can see here: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="//html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]--><title> My Magical World </title> <style> html, body { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px } body { background-color: silver } article { margin: 20px; padding: 15px; border: 2px solid black; } footer { clear:both; background-color: red; border:5px solid black; text-align:center; } .b { border:5px solid black; text-align: center; background-color: red; } .field { border:2px solid black; text-align: center; background-color: red; } .navlink { border:1px solid #FFF; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="content-wrapper"> <!-- Content Wrapper Start --> <header class="b"> <h1> Hello World! </h1> <h2> Welcome to a magic world </h2> </header> <section id="main-content-area"> <!-- Section Main Content Area Start --> <nav style="background-color: red; border: 2px solid black; margin: 10px; padding: 10px; float: left; "> <fieldset class="field"><a href="BTSMain.html"><b>Home</b> </a></fieldset> <fieldset class="field"><a href="BTSServices.html"><b>Services We Offer</b></a></fieldset> <fieldset class="field"><a href="BTSAboutUs.html"><b>Request Service</b></a></fieldset> <fieldset class="field"><a href="BTSTestPage.html"><b>Contact Us</b></a></fieldset> <fieldset class="field"><a href="BTSTestPage2.html"><b>About BTS</b></a></fieldset> </nav> <article style="float: left"> My world is a strange place... it is populated by lemurs, lobsters, larvae, lampreys, and llamas.
