  1. Ok, first let me explain what I try to do. I have a menu with some items containing a submenu. The submenu's should open when a parent is clicked and contains submenu's, and when traveling to another page (from the item clicked, for example a parent of submenu item), the submenu should remain active and visible. Now when I click on a parent item the submenu quickly blinks but is closed even as fast as it opens. I want the submenu to remain open when clicked on a parent that has a submenu, so users can easily navigate. So, here is the code I have so far: <div id="topnav"> <ul> <li> <a href="index.html">Home</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">Over Meves</a> <ul class="submenu"> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Historie</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Onze mensen</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Werkzijze</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <a href="vervolg3.html">Disciplines</a> <ul class="submenu"> <li><a href="vervolg.html" class="suba">Klimaatbeheersing</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Elektrotechniek</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Sanitaire techniek</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Energiebesparingstechniek</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Bouwfysica en geluid</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Diensten energiebesparing</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <a href="#">Expertise</a> <ul class="submenu"> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Woningbouw & Utiliteit</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Zorg & Welzijn</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Milieu & Energie</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Beheer & Onderhoud</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">EPA & EPC</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Legionella beheersing</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <a href="#">Contact</a> <ul class="submenu"> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Adres & route</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="suba">Werken bij</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> The javascript: var ddmenuitem = 0;function jsddm_open(){ jsddm_close(); ddmenuitem = $(this).find('ul.submenu').css('display', 'block');}function jsddm_close(){if(ddmenuitem) ddmenuitem.css('display', 'none');}$(document).ready(function(){ $('#topnav > ul > li').bind('click', jsddm_open) $('#topnav ul li a.suba').click(function(e){ if ($(this).attr('class') != 'active'){ $('#topnav ul li a.suba').removeClass('active'); $(this).addClass('active'); } }); $('a').filter(function(){ return this.href === document.location.href; }).addClass('active') $("ul.submenu > li > a").each(function () { var currentURL = document.location.href; var thisURL = $(this).attr("href"); if (currentURL.indexOf(thisURL) != -1) { $(this).parent("ul.submenu").css('display', 'block'); } });}); And the css: #topnav ul{list-style: none;padding: 0;margin: 0;}#topnav ul li{float: left;margin: 0;padding: 0;}#topnav ul li a{padding: 5px 15px;color: #00537F;text-decoration: none;display: block;font-weight: bold;}#topnav ul li a:link{color: #FFF;text-decoration: none;}#topnav ul li a:visited{color: #FFF;text-decoration: none;}#topnav ul li a:hover{color: #FFF;text-decoration: underline;}#topnav ul li a.active{text-decoration: underline;color: #FFF;}/*#topnav ul li:hover .submenu{display:block;}*/#topnav ul li ul.submenu{float: left;padding: 4px 0;position: absolute;left: 0;top: 24px;display: none;background: #e0e0e0;color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu a{display: inline;color: #00537F;padding: 4px 8px;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu li{border-right-width: 1px;border-right-style: solid;border-right-color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu li:last-child{border-right-style: none;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu a:link{color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu a:visited{color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu a:hover{text-decoration: underline;color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu li.active{text-decoration: underline;color: #00537F;}#topnav ul li ul.submenu a.active{text-decoration: underline;color: #00537F;}
  2. This white space is hiding my image and I dont know why! there is ample space for the image to exist in the div. Here is the CSS: #guitar {position: relative;transform: rotate(30deg);-ms-transform: rotate(30deg); /* IE 9 */-webkit-transform: rotate(30deg); /* Safari and Chrome */-o-transform: rotate(30deg); /* Opera */-moz-transform: rotate(30deg); /* Firefox */padding: 5px;border: 1px solid gray;background-color: #ffffff;width: 180px;height: 290px;} and here is the HTML <div id="guitar"><img src="Index_files/Images/Collage Photos/About Me/guitar1.png"/></div> i think im either missing something, or there is something mundane that i over looked. With this code, everything but the image shows up. thanks guys!
  3. http://www.logoworks1.com/wccs Looks fine in all browsers (that I know of) except for IE. Basically in IE the menu and the content is split apart about 100px. I've attached a screenshot. I don't understand. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. what is a good way to stack more than one div on top of each other.for example the left column has three div one on top of the other, midle column has three and right most column four?I tried putting the three in the left column in an other container div & floating left, worked. But it placed a div I had floating right & top, to floating right and bottom.All this divs are in a wrapper div as well.thank yougray
  5. how do i size a link so when the mouse rolls over it creates a background column for the length of the page? Tried: <li><a href>1399 </a></li> a:hover{background-color:yellow;background-height: auto;} also tried w/a px value but not use. Saw the effect on a website & wanted to try & recreate it. 6. Hi, I am busy testing out a lightbox form that I'm working on and I've got all to work except the "success" or "thank you" page.Basically I want the user to fill in the online form and when the they are click 'submit', the "thank you" message or page resolves in the same lightbox that the form was in. Go to www.testing123.co.za/test.htm and click on that link you see saying "AJAX SuperBox".The lightbox is opening up an HTML page within in the test.htm page (basically acting like an iFrame?).When I click submit, the page resolves to the success.htm page (which it should) but not in the lightbox frame. I don't want visitors to leave the test.htm page. My headers at the bottom of my process php form shows as: '; $headers = "From: $from\r\nBCC:{$bcc}\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-type: text/html\r\n"; $success = mail($to, $subject, $sBodyNew, $headers); header('Location: http://www.testing123.co.za/success.htm'); ?> I assume the Location url above needs code added to it so that it works within the lightbox? Or is there an easier way to do this? Thanks guys!
  7. very short code, grabbed it from the net and was trying to learn it. very simple workout page. No matter what I try I can not get box4 to fall under the box1 at the top and next to two center panels. Tried all alignments I could think of. My primary frustration is the code for dragging the red square w/the id =mvBox should work but does not. Have gone over it several times and can not find the error. I put some code to track the mouse to try & debug and alert box to make sure the ball.js script source was correctly linking up. I read the code over several times. I see no errors. Thank you in advance for any help and advice. Tried the original code and it only moved the box down and rightward.<!DOCTYPE HTML><html lang="en"><head><meta charset="UTF-8"><title>Fill Shapes Example</title><script src="ball.js"></script><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="ball.css" /><script language="javascript"> var x; var y; function mouser(event){ x=event.clientX; y=event.clientY; document.getElementById('X-coord').innerHTML = x +'px'; document.getElementById('Y-coord').innerHTML = y +'px'; }</script></head><body onMouseMove="mouser(event);"><div id="wrapper"><div id="header"> </div><div id = box1>X: <span id="X-coord"></span><br><br>Y: <span id="Y-coord"></span> <script type =text/javascript> write(); </script> </div> <div id = box2>box2</div> <!-- Unless canvas size is specified default size is 300 w x 150 h --><canvas id="canvas" width="700" height="350" >[Fallback Message]</canvas><canvas id="canvas" width="700" height="350" >[Fallback Message]</canvas><div id = box3>box3</div> <div id = box4>box4</div> <div id = box5>box5</div> <div id=mvBox class=mvBox onMouseDown="mouse_down(event,'mvBox')" onMouseUp="mouse_up()"></div></div></body></html>css#wrapper{background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(bottom, #FFFFFF 0%, #9BEF81 100%);background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(bottom, #FFFFFF 0%, #9BEF81 100%);background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom, #FFFFFF 0%, #9BEF81 100%);margin-top:25px;margin-bottom:100px;margin-right:auto;margin-left:auto;padding: 50;}#box1{border:2px solid #000;padding:10px 40px; background: #CC3300;width:1000px;height: 150px;border-radius:25px;-moz-border-radius:25px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}#box2{float:left;border:2px solid #000;padding:0; background:#7DBD9D;width:150px;height: 700px;border-radius:25px;-moz-border-radius:25px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}#box3{top: 2000px;float:left;border:2px solid #000;padding:0; background: #7DBD9D;width:150px;height: 700px;border-radius:25px;-moz-border-radius:25px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}#box4{clear:both;border:2px solid #000;padding:0; background: #2E8A2E;width:1000px;height: 25px;border-radius:25px;-moz-border-radius:25px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}#box5{clear:both;border:2px solid #000;padding:0; background: #2E8A2E;width:1000px;height: 25px;border-radius:25px;-moz-border-radius:25px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}#mvBox {background: #FF0000;border:4px solid #000;width: 100px;height: 100px;position: absolute; top: 50px; left: 150px; z-index: 5; }canvas{margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px;margin-right:0;margin-left:0;float:left;background-color: #c0c0c0;border: 2px solid "#ddd";border-radius: 100px;-moz-border-radius: 100px; /* Firefox 3.6 and earlier */}and lastly jsvar x;var y;var element;var being_dragged = false;//function write()//{//alert("write something");//}function mouser(event){if(event.offsetX || event.offsetY) {x=event.offsetX;y=event.offsetY;}else {x=event.pageX;y=event.pageY;}document.getElementById('X').innerHTML = x +'px';document.getElementById('Y').innerHTML = y +'px';document.getElementById('X-coord').innerHTML = x +'px';document.getElementById('Y-coord').innerHTML = y +'px';if(being_dragged == true) {document.getElementById(element).style.left = x +'px';document.getElementById(element).style.top = y +'px';}}function mouse_down(ele_name) {being_dragged = true;element = ele_name;document.getElementById(element).style.cursor = 'move';}function mouse_up() {being_dragged = false;document.getElementById(element).style.top = y +'px';document.getElementById(element).style.left = x +'px';document.getElementById(element).style.cursor = 'auto';}

  15. The following adapted code taken from this page works in firefox (and I assume some other browsers), but it does not work in internet explorer. The specific part, which stops the script entirely in IE is highlighted in red bold below. Is there a work around to solve this problem so that I can change the content of a style sheet dynamically - using onClick etc Thanks as always for your time. <html><head> <style id="poo" readonly=false>#myAnchor{color:green}</style><script type="text/javascript">function changeLink(){document.getElementById('poo').innerHTML="#myAnchor{color:red}"; document.getElementById('myAnchor').innerHTML="W3Schools";document.getElementById('myAnchor').href="http://www.w3schools.com";document.getElementById('myAnchor').target="_blank";}</script></head><body> <a id="myAnchor" href="http://www.microsoft.com">Microsoft</a><input type="button" onclick="changeLink()" value="Change link"> </body></html>

    Footer Issues

    Ok, I found a way to force the footer to the bottom of a page if the content is to short. I used the information found on this page: http://ryanfait.com/resources/footer-stick-to-bottom-of-page/ The issue is when the page is shorter than the content, such as if you were to re-size the window, the footer ends up in the middle of the content. Does any one know how i can adjust the code to keep it at the bottom of the content at all times?

    Proper Css Method

    So general layout question here... which method is proper styling? obviously this is a dumbed down example of all the elements and stuff Ill be working with but just curious if it was better to list 1 style multiple times or 1 class or ident or whatever multiple times. I wanna be as professional as I can be in my writing so Im trying to learn proper techniques now #example1 {color: red;height: 43px;border: 1px solid black;} #example2 {color: red;height: 10px;border: 1px solid green;} #example3 {color: red;height: 100px;border: 1px solid purple;} OR#example1, #example2, #example3 {color: red;} #example1 {height: 43px;border: 1px solid black;} #example2 {height: 10px;border: 1px solid green;} #example3 {height: 100px;border: 1px solid purple;}
  19. Hello everyone,I am brand new to this, as may already be evident from the wording of my thread title. After some reading and practice, I am fairly confident on the basics of CSS and XHTML, and I am wanting to push myself a little. In the website I am creating for my own practice sake, I have an external CSS page which is working satisfactorily for basic things around the website. Now I'd like to see if I can make certain sections of the background image to be links to other pages, instead of the HTML navbar I have created. So if I want different sections or elements of the background image to link to other pages on the website, is there a way to do this? If this is written into external CSS, then it should be the same site-wide, correct? Perhaps I am biting off more than is helpful for me to chew at the moment. Any suggestions/corrections are welcome.Thank you for your time. It is much appreciated.

    Css Float Pushed Down

  21. Resolved Two issues I'm having that I could use some help with http://31theseries.com/shriekfest/ I have two images and I'd like to center the two of them as a group. In this case they're the same size but I have other applications where they're going to be different sizes Also I'm a bit mixed up on how I can get my buttons in a horizontal row instead of a vertical one. I tried using display inline but when I do suddenly my width and height definitions mean nothing and the images get cut off.
  22. Hi,I am new to Joomla, and just getting started with html and css code.I have been reading for over a day now about how to change a vertical menu to a horizontal menu. I have used the css code "display:inline;" and removed the "display:block;" according to the instructions that I found on the web, but it didn't work.Joomla version 1.5.23Template: joomla 18 http://www.joomspirit.com/vmchk/free-joomla-1.5-templates/template-joomspirit_18.htmlwebsite: http://www.mvseahorse.nl (I want to make the menu at the top horizontal)As far as I can see the css code that has to be changed is in the moomenuh.css file, and the first code in this file I have pasted below.I know this question has been raised many times before, but like I said, I got stuck. I appreciate your help.Joris#main_menu {clear:both;display:block;height:28px;position:relative;z-index:100;list-style: none;margin:0;padding:0;text-align : left;/** change **/}#main_menu .moduletable{margin:0;}#main_menu li{margin:0;padding:0;height:28px;float:right;position:relative;list-style : none;/** change **/margin-top:-1px;padding-top:14px;}#main_menu li a, #main_menu li span.separator {display:block;float : none !important;float : left;position:relative;z-index:1000;text-decoration:none;/** change **/color: #eee;line-height:28px;text-transform: capitalize;letter-spacing: -0.5px;font-weight: normal;font-size:105%;padding:0px 18px;}#main_menu li li a, #main_menu li li span.separator{/** change **/color:#eee;float:none;font-size:100%;line-height: 13px;letter-spacing: 0;font-weight:normal;padding: 6px 2px 6px 5px;text-transform:none;margin: 2px 4px 0px 4px;border: 1px solid #666;background-color: #333;}#main_menu li.parent {}#main_menu li.parent li{}#main_menu li li.parent{}#main_menu li ul {display:block;width: 160px;position:absolute;z-index:99;left: -999em;clear:left;/** change **/margin-left:0;margin-top:0;padding: 6px 0 4px 0;background-image:none;}#main_menu li ul ul {margin: -29px 0 0 158px;/** change **/padding-top:0;background-image:none;}#main_menu li li {width: 158px;height:auto;padding:0;}
  23. http://attilahajzer.host-ed.net/ look in the footer and hover over the SOCIAL icons: facebook, flickr and twitter. the image changes to a color one. but flickers, how do i pre-load that hover image without it flickering for the first time?
  24. My directory tree looks like this - Public_html (Working directory) Images (contains all my .png files) css_Files (contains my css files)first_html_filesecond_html_file so I have one directory containing two sub-directories and my html files. The first_html_file calls a css file in css_Files Part of the css file reads - body{background-color: #cde6ff;background-image:url(public_html/Images/tbc_backdrop.png);background-repeat: repeat-x;padding-top: 0px;}Is the second line a valid reference, if not, what paths can the css file legally follow? This is the first time I've tried to use a reference inside a css file, and it doesn't seem to work - does the .png need to be somewhere else?
  25. I've been working on my uncle's website all summer, redesigning it. He hasn't changed the layout since 1996, so it was very much needed. Everything is working perfectly fine in Safari and Firefox, but when I view it in Google Chrome, the audio files on two of the pages do something weird. Instead of going underneath the header and footer while scrolling, the play bars are going overtop of them. The mock-up I've been working on is linked below, and I've pasted my CSS as well. Thanks in advance for your help! http://webpub.allegheny.edu/student/G/gooda/sobolov/demos.html (There is no doubt some superfluous coding in the CSS. If you notice it, please let me know. I only just got into CSS this spring.) body{ background-color:black;background-image:url('bg.png');background-repeat:repeat-y;}div#headerwrap{ position:fixed;top:0;left:0;height:160px;}body>div#headerwrap{ position:fixed;}div#header{ height:160px;width:1024px;margin:0 auto;}div#middlewrap{ padding-top:150px;padding-bottom:75px;padding-left:75px;width:810px;height:auto;}body>div#middlewrap{ margin-left:0;}div#middle{ width:815px;margin:0 auto;}div#images{ left:0px;top:0px;border-style:none;border-width:0px;}body>div#footerwrap{ position:fixed;bottom:0px;left:0px;padding:0px;}div#footerwrap{ margin:0;position:fixed;padding:0px;bottom:0;left:0;height:75px;width:1024px;}p{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;text-align:center;}h4{ color:red;font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;text-align:center;}h3{ text-align:center;}blockquote{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;text-align:center;color:red;}a:link{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#FF0000;text-decoration:underline;}a:visited{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#FF0000;}a:hover{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#FF0000;}a:active{ font-family:"Trebuchet MS", Helvetica, sans-serif;color:#FF0000;}
