  1. I've a beginner's problem maybe someone can help with. Imagine a game simulating a sporting event (baseball, boxing, football, &c.). The games, themselves, are divided into time periods -- innings, rounds, quarters, &c. -- and one cannot know ahead of time how many periods actually will be played. So, for example, baseball is a nine-inning game -- unless there is rain or the need for extra innings if a tie; boxing is so many rounds -- unless there is a knockout or other fight-ending incident. The simulation addresses this within the game via a template -- the template describes with html what the presentation of one period -- inning, round, quarter, &c. -- will look like, and the simulation then simply calls the template for however many periods it needs to complete the contest. My problem (we'll use boxing hereafter) is that I want to install a different image (a round-card girl with card showing the correct round number) at the beginning of each round. My thinking so far is to create an array, var cardgirls=new Array(), with each of 15 girls occupying a slot in the array, cardgirls[0].src=../../images/RCG1.png, &c.; body onload = "Cardgirl(cardgirl1, cardgirls)"; &c. The difficulty is as follows: I can call for a specific card girl (one for all the rounds) by using <td id=img><img src = "../../images/RCG1.png, and the first card girl then will appear atop each round. HOWEVER, if I try to substitute a javascript function for the image source (to change the src code and get a different image) -- document.getElementById("cardgirl1).src=cardgirls[k].src (referring back to the array); body onload = "Cardgirl(cardgirl1, cardgirls);"...<td id="img"><img id = "cardgirl1">, &c. -- I can get the images to cycle in order, but they only appear for the first round (NO images appear for rounds 2 through end, only the alt, "Cardgirl"). For clarity, let me put it another way: The game is loading the "rounds" template ("innings" template -- whatever) for every round the game calls for and using an anchor tag to distinguish them [name=$$No.$$, so that each "round" template has "name=1; name=2; name=3, &c.]. If I use a general source for ONE of the images, img src="../../images/RCG1.png", that image will appear above ALL the rounds; BUT, if I call a javascript cycle function, the template tries to cycle ALL of the photos in the first round and installs NONE of them in rounds two to end, which remain blank save for the alt unless I also install a default image [src=../../images/RCG16.png, &c.]. I gather that, somehow, I need to link the image placement -- one per use of the template -- with the anchor ID, but so far my efforts to do that have not met with success. Nor was I successful when I relocated the javascript function from the general head to the end of the "rounds" template (on the assumption that, each time the template was used, it would call anew the cycle function). Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? The relocation idea did get me the proper number of cycles, e.g., 7 for 7 rounds, but that just caused RCG1 to be the girl with card, Round 8, instead of Round 1 or Round 12 (what appears when the function is left in the head). Relocating does not move the image to the correct round.
  2. Hello everyone! I've got 6 details I wish to improve through my WP theme, Evolve. And I guess I need some CSS for them but I'm not good enough right now to do it all alone... So, I'm asking for your help today! I hope I'm not asking to much... Here is my (french) website : le-chemin-du-butterfly.fr 1. You can see I've got a widget on the right of my page. I'd like to resize it to give more space to my text (right now, it's 66% and 33% and I would like 75%-25%). I tried some things but I have to made it so that it still responsive. But I don't know how... I guess I have to add some If or And but.. how? 2. Again with this menu, I would like my text to be around it. Right now, the text is only in its column and doesn't go under the widget when it's after it. Menu and text are truly separated in two columns 3. Talking about menu, you can see I've got 2 links in my header ("Une Histoire de Bouquins" and "The Voyage"). What I'm looking after is to duplicate it on the right to add other links... But I guess it's HTML rather than CSS and I need to configure the theme itself for this right? But then, have you tips for me to do so? 4. I've got a search bar in the header but on small screens this search bar doesn't show very well: the text that's shown when you click on the button is shown... all time on small screens. So, it's not very... Professional. 5. I ran the plugin Livefyre for the comments but since, the "Leave a comment" (Laisser un commentaire) doesn't scroll down to the comments menu, because the anchor is #respond and not "#comments" or "#livefyre-comments" as the Livefyre's Support told me. So, how I can I manage that? Here is a link to an article for an example I know I'm asking a lot (especially for a first message!) but I've to say I'm kind of lost in all of this. I'm learning HTML/CSS from not so long and I can't figure out how to do this... Thank you a lot in advance! And see you
  3. Hello. I'm having problem with data-transition in jQuery mobile If I use this code without having "id" parameter in the href : $('#allList').append('<li><a href="#DeadlineDetail" data-transition = "flow" >'+ allDeadline.class +'<br>'+ allDeadline.duedate+' '+ allDeadline.duetime+'<br>'+ allDeadline.description +'</a></li>'); The data-transition can work normally But if I add the "id" parameter to the href like this so there will have no data-transition animation $('#allList').append('<li><a href="?id='+allDeadline.id+'#DeadlineDetail" data-ajax = true data-transition = "flow" >'+ allDeadline.class +'<br>'+ allDeadline.duedate+' '+ allDeadline.duetime+'<br>'+ allDeadline.description +'</a></li>'); Do u have any solution for this ? Thanks alot
  4. Hey all, I have noticed something very strange in Safari & Chrome (but not Firefox)... when I jump to an anchor in a frame window, the main-page organisation gets messed up (certain divs disappear altogether).. Here is what I mean: http://www.paulclift.net/ <---on the left-hand-side menu, click on 'List of Works', then any item... the top div disappears altogether!! Any ideas on why this is happening? The links to the relevant pages are: http://www.paulclift.net/index.htmlhttp://www.paulclift.net/home.htmlhttp://www.paulclift.net/works.htmlhttp://www.paulclift.net/core-style.css I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me with this! Best, Paul
  5. Hello, At my website, I am trying to design a record of the articles I read similar to Richard Stallman's Political Notes or, Dave Winer's more complicated linkblog. Browsing Stallman's html, I understand that each note has an anchor that organizes it by date. Then, I'm not totally sure how, the notes are sort of cross posted to date-specific pages available from the links at the top of the page. In Stallman's markup, there's a comment indicating a line needed for scripts, which leads me to believe that Stallman uses some kind of script to quickly organize each note into the date-specific pages. Without having to create a script, is there some way I can organize my links into category-specific pages with them also appearing on the main notes subdomain? If I do need to use a script, does anyone know of something basic I can use to do what I need? Thanks for any and all help. Let me know if this needs to be clarified. Take care, Gabriel
  6. I have a simple list of articles I read that I feature at my subdomain, http://notes.gabrielsistare.com. It's basically an unordered list of links with a little bit of description associated with each. I would like to anchor to the individual "entries," but I was wondering if it is possible to style the list item bullet points to include an anchor. I don't know if this is at all possible, but, ideally, for each new list item I include, it would feature an anchored bullet point where I could link to. Thanks for any and all help.

    Ie8 And <A Class

Hello all,I have a problem for 3 days now and simply don't know what to do; google did not help.Basically I have to create a table on a website for upcoming events, some of which link to pages where people buy their tickets.I have assigned a class, ex1, to those links to style them in css.Works flawlessly in crome and in ff, as well as IE8 in compatibility mode, but not in IE8 which is the largest chunk of users and thus very important. The website is the following: *edited out, as it no longer exists*I understand that I have used mainly inline styles and yes I know external stylesheets are more useful, but as the url might give away, this is for me to see whether I can actually implement what is asked of me. The design is based on a printed sheet which students can hang on their walls, thus it is important for it to look like this.If you view the site in FF/GC you'll see the effect working, in IE8 however it displays the style of a:link, but actually does not link anymore, let alone hover/active. Interestingly enough, when tabbing through, a:focus works, as well as a:active and on pressing enter I get redirected as planned. This doesn't make sense to me and I have only found the common issue of IE8 ignoring empty anchors, which is not the case.Any help would be so, so, so much appreciated!!
