S Murder
I was editing a file that has "<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->" "<!-- InstanceParam name="benefits_services_links" type="boolean" value="false" -->" and the like strewn throughout and wondered what they're for. This line: "<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/alumni.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->" references a dwt file. What's a .dwt file?I tried adding in some real comments but for some reason it breaks the webpage in IE 7, which comments shouldn't do. Were my normal comments causing the embedded code to break? music_lp90
.dwt is a Dreamweaver template file. The instance begin editable tells Dreamweaver where people are allowed to begin editing the file.

boen_robot
So, it doesn't have anything to do with how a browser displays HTML, right?Yep. After all, those are just comments.Your normal comments might have broken the page down, because the opening and closures get mixed up.
