Website Layout

It's cute. The curve is nice. But the header image is HUGE. Took forever to download. If you add a black background to the original, you get the same effect, but you can save it as a PNG-8 in 20KB instead of 60.

I personally don't like the color. AT ALL. The rest of the layout is nice though. I liked the curved top, I would suggest using blue instead of pink still, but oh well. I would suggest some sort of image saying "Anmans Place" with the letters being cool shapes or something maybe.

You have barely begun.Foremost, utilize HTML's built-in formatting tags (h1, h2, h3..., ul, li)

<h2>Quilted Cards</h2><img src="quiltedcards.gif" alt="quilted cards" /><p>These 5x7 cards have a beautiful quilted design on the front. Designs range from original pieced miniature quilts to a nature or animal photo printed on fabric and quilted.</p><p>The inside is blank so you can add your own greeting, news and special thoughts.</p><p>Please see <a href="gallery.html">Gallery</a> for samples.</p><p><strong>Cost</strong>: $4.00 per card plus shipping</p><p>Includes</p><ul> <li>envelope</li> <li>packaged in a clear, archival, acid-free bag <li>Made in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.</li><ul>...<h2>Method of Payment</h2><p><a href="purchase.html">Purchase</a></p><p>Purchase using PayPal or Cashiers Check or Money Order</p>

Your display area is too wide to effectively display your text too.

h1, h2, etc are not formatting tags. They have a specific purpose and formatting isn't it. To be semantically correct, they should only be used for delineating sections of a page. Use css and the appropriate tag for formatting.

I understand the fundamental argument there and concede that I may have misused the term "formatting".However, in this page, its content lends itself to displaying different sections with html tags as I've demonstrated. My example uses these tags for semantic structure, not just styling the text. This structure is CSS-neutral.

I would do that, but it's too much work.Much easier to convert \nl to <br> then add <p>'s everywhere.

You'll never get anywhere if you dump everything you consider too hard, or too long to do.I remember visiting it a while ago and liked it (too pink but, anyway), but now it's all gone with that:Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/anmansplace.co.cc/index.php on line 37???

I know you said not to say that it was too pink and that it's blinding me.... because it is... I would offset that by putting a dark background for text in the big pink part. It's kinda simple and boring... :)

The pink is too bright. I love pink, but the fushia did hurt my eyes. Go for a softer pink and make the text a dark pink or even a dark red. I like the curve you have. But you might want to fix your database. There is an error. Also use a more professonial looking font. That font makes your layout look like a child made it.
