html5/css?

From a search engine's perspective ,

are '<aside> #aside .aside ' equal , ie., treated as the same structure ?

No. <aside> is the tag in the HTML document.

 

In CSS, #aside would select an element with an id "aside", for example <div id="aside">. .aside would select an element with a class "aside", such as <div class="aside">

 

All of this is in the CSS tutorial.
