Both of these have been depreciated or rendered unnecessary in HTML5...

language="javascript"

type="text/javascript"

The language attribute was deprecated in HTML 4.01, the type attribute is no longer required in HTML 5.

 

To summarize:

  • Never use the language attribute
  • Use the type attribute for HTML 4.01 and XHTML

For a modern page in HTML 5 you should not need either of them.
