AarchAll very nice and such, but I mean I think we are getting too off topic here, I started this topic, so, pleaseFor you all the started subject may be done, but not for everyone
I don't think anyone can claim ownership of a topic. I think that everyone who posted here owns this topic, because this topic as it exists is the result of everyone's posts. Is there anyone (besides Dan) who wants to talk about 3 and 7? Or Dan, is there anything more you have to say about 3 and 7? I thought you made your point in the first post, and since then we've been discussing numerology in general, which is pretty much what happens in a forum. Also, about the numerology thing, I was looking stuff up on Wikipedia and forgot about Roman numerals. The first 6 Roman numerals:I V X L C D1 + 5 + 10 + 50 + 100 + 500 = 666Although I'm not sure how Domitian's name was originally written.
I just looked up irony...I didn't realise it meant the same as sarcasm.
Did you guys know that 'gullible' is not in the dictionary? Seriously! Look it up!
Irony is the parent of sarcasm
We all know what irony is. Irony is like leady or woody, but it's made of iron.

I should have taken the bet, since you didn't define what a "perfect number" is. I would have came back and said no, that's not a perfect number, because my definition of a perfect number is all numbers that are equal to 12. :)
no... you wouldn't have been right, the name 'perfect number' is the mathematical name for the sequence! I didn't need to define what is what for you... it's one of the Divisor-Related Numbers. This is like me saying the model-T was the first motorized car mass produced... and you saying I didn't define motorized car so you could say "the horse was"... 6 is the first perfect number by technical definition70 is the first weird number by technical definition6 is also the first Friendly Number by technical definition12 is the first Sublime Number by technical definition (2nd is 6086555670238378989670371734243169622657830773351885970528324860512791691264 ... hope I got this correct I typed it by hand, no copy paster here...)9 is the first D-number by technical definition

You're right, I didn't realize that "perfect number" was a formal name, I just thought you were calling 6 perfect.Apparently the first 6 perfect numbers are 6, 28, 496, 8128, 33550336, and 8589869056.

Two millennia after Euclid, Euler proved that the formula (2^(n−1))(2^(n) − 1) will yield all the even perfect numbers. Thus, every Mersenne prime will yield a distinct even perfect number—there is a concrete one-to-one association between even perfect numbers and Mersenne primes. This result is often referred to as the "Euclid-Euler Theorem". Only 43 Mersenne primes are presently known, which means there are 43 perfect numbers known.
one off..I would paste perfect number #43, but it would make this page almost 19 MB.http://amicable.homepage.dk/perfect.htm

Moderators, may this topic be split into "The Magic of Three & Seven" and "Numerology" or something?I created this topic with the intension of discussing situations in which those numbers were mentioned, not offtopic numerology. Not that it is not interesting, but I don't think it belongs to the subject. For some of you this subject may be closed, and offtopic is allowed when so, but I don't think so. I don't claim this topic mines, but I did created it. Haven't I got the right to say what exactly the subject is? Please stick to the main subject, or let others do that. Please.

I think that's a little silly, I thought we came to the conclusion that you can find patterns anywhere for anything if you are specifically looking for them.Statistically speaking, all 10 digits have the same chance of appearing in any randomly selected number sequence. Here is a page that breaks down the frequency of digits in the value of pi:http://www.eveandersson.com/pi/precalculated-frequenciesYou can see that for lower precision values, some digits appear much more frequently then others, but as the precision increases the digits get closer together in frequency. At a precision of 10,000,000 digits, it looks like 4 leads the pack, beating the next highest, 5, by 627 occurences.Your original hypothesis it looks like was basically that 3 and 7 appear more frequently than other digits, but did you really look at how often other digits appear, or did you just concentrate on 3 and 7? Did you compare them with the frequency of the other 8 digits in things like your address, or phone number, or PIN, or whatever?

Justsomeguy. No I haven't looked at the frequency of other numbers. And that wasn't needed, I only concentrate on three and seven. It is not about what number occured most, but about if the reader of my text believes seven or three is magical. Because they can occur in any daytime doings or beings. You are one of the posters that are logical and don't believe it, so thats done. But I want to turn back to new posters, and see if they do believe it. It doesn't matter if it is logically true or not :)
