May I please ask the moderator who made the Poll to get rid of the MX after Dreamwaver? As said above, the latest version is 8. If there are people who use older versions, then just saying "Dreamwaver" might be the best thing to do.

Please don't rot your mind with an editor!!!! :)You learn so much more by using notepad and hand coding. You develope much stronger coding skills. Even with .Net I use Notepad at home...I only us VS.net at work because I have to.Just my opinion though.

wow.. we missed about 50,000 on here....I <3 open sourceHere's a few of my favorites:PSPadFree (freeware)Platform: Windows 98,ME,2000,XPhttp://www.pspad.comNanoFree (open source)Platform: linux, with many portshttp://www.nano-editor.org/NEdit (Nirvana Text Editor)Free (open source)Platform: linux, with many portshttp://www.nedit.org/Bluefish Web Development StudioFree (open source)Platform: Linux, FreeBSD, MacOS-X, OpenBSD, Solaris and Tru64 (no windows!)http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/index.htmlIf I'm on a windows machine, I'll grab a copy of PSPad and go to town. It's really great and free so give it a shot. If I'm on a linux machine (and usually I am), Bluefish is good for sitting down for awhile, but for a quick fix I'll probably use NEdit because it loads faster. If i'm stuck in command line linux I use Nano.Other's I've used:Beaver (Early AdVanced EditoR)free (open source)platforms: Linux/unix/windowshttp://www.nongnu.org/beaver/well, not gonna list any more. I just found this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_text_editors

Kate...http://kate.kde.org/kate-screenshot.pngPost screenshots (please, no 1200016 x 15000008 screens...) of the programme(s) you use, think it's cool to see the GUI of it (them). I'm looking for one like Kate for windows...Btw, I had an idea, why don't we post the set of programmes we use to build, develop, whatever? Like:editing, coding, etc:ftp client:image treatment:etc:

Gosh, I must be old.Anyone ever here of 'vi' ???Now-a-days I use 'vim' and 'cream'.Vim is a nicer more powerful version of vi. and Cream is the same thing with windoze type menus and a cleaner integration with windows.Jefkin

Vi.. not unless I have to! Nano is superior, in my opinion. It is much easier to use and just as functional. I can't imagine a situation that I would use Vi, although, if I needed to, I can manage with it.unrelated: glad to see my list got added to the poll :)

WOW! Do that many people really use notepad? I can't understand why when there are freeware/OSS editors that have more functionality. Don't get me wrong, Notepad is solid, but I would rather have syntax highlighting any day.
