blirette
hiFirst, a BIG congratulations on your website! I discovered it in school and now everyone I know use it. The best website about web, goes along with the php.net for me! :)Ok, I've seen you have a browser statistics page up and was wondering if you could add where Safari ranks in there? Because so far I'm having trouble explaning why (edit) we should support that browser... :(Mac OS FTW!
mpoer
"Mac OS FTW"? not sure about that, but:check out SnugTech's Safari Test: http://www.snugtech.com/safaritest/it's a great way to check out how your web site looks on Safari when you don't have a Mac computer. SnugTech also offers a Mac to use via VNC, check here for details on that: http://www.snugtech.com/blog/hope that helps
blirette
What are you talking about? I asked to see what percentage of the web users are using Safari...
Jonas
Because so far I'm having trouble explaning how we should support that browser...<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess you mean why. I can understand how that could throw mpoer off. Why you should try to accommodate Safari is because it's the standard browser that comes with the Mac OS(X). Not all Mac users download Firefox, and therefore, regardless of browser stats actually, you should take Safari into consideration if you want people to be able to see your site. Jonas
Sorry, english is my second language :(Yeah I know that... but is there any stats about how many people use Safari?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's perfectly fine. English is my second language too. :)I don't know how accurate this is, but there may be something to it:http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=7They don't list Opera though, just "others" which I find a bit odd. DERoss
Last September, I reported that 3.9% of the recognizable browsers viewing my Web site were Safari. Only 1.4% were Opera. See my http://www.rossde.com/viewing_site.html for details. Scroll beyond the table, which reflects the W3Schools tabulation. Note, however, that the number of Safari views of my site is likely skewed by the fact that my daughter (living 2,000 miles away) was using Safari on her Mac at the time. She visits my Web site quite frequently.
Thelenius
I was going through sites that have global browser statistics and noticed that the W3Schools statistics don't have Safari listed, nor could I actually find any mention of Safari anywhere in the browser info texts (or whatever). This is strange, since according to other statistics sites, Safari is currently the third most popular browser. So what's up? It should be at the very least mentioned in the section about different browsers, which has info on all kinds of obscure browsers. justsomeguy
Here is a good stats page:http://www.thecounter.com/stats/Safari is always higher than Opera, it turns out there are more Mac users then there are Opera users. One thing to say about that site is don't go off the raw numbers, use percentages. If you look at August 2006, it looks like 2.7 million people were reported using Safari, but in January 2006 3.6 million people were reported using it. But Safari usage is higher in August because the sample size changed. In August, only 97 million people were reported as using IE, but in January 222 million were reported using it. So, pay more attention to the percentages then raw numbers, because the total sample size varies a lot.
Guest j0nny
To concur, the web stats is a really useful tool (thanks for providing it), though surely it's now time to add Safari...http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2006/12/4/6166
