Website Reviews

I'm starting a website reviewing business and I'm looking for some experience and feedback regarding the website reports I provide. These reports include all of the following points:

  • Fonts
  • Colors
  • Cross-browser compatibility
  • (X)HTML valid
  • CSS valid
  • JavaScript valid
  • Metadata
  • Broken links
  • Page weight
  • Web accessibility (WAI)
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

If you would like your website reviewed, go ahead and post your url. I would like you to review my report once I have completed the review of your website. Also, remember I am alone in this so don't expect the reports to be completed within an hour.

I don't have a personal web site just yet, but here's a site of a client of mine.http://krom-bg.net/The kind of information you provide in those reports, I already know, but let's try it anyways (as long as it's still free for us :) ).

Eh, I think people are getting a bit confused when you talk about "reviews" - which we understand as more of a critique on the overall effectiveness (e.g. like a "film review"). What you seem to be providing is a technical analysis or report for a number of checkpoints that you believe a website should adhere to.Well, try my website - http://aspektas.com/.P.S. couldn't you write a piece of software that checked all these points? :)

For most of the stuff, there are tools indeed, which is where I know the information for the site I gave... I'm sure you know it with the same or similar tools as well. :)

Damn... I knew that engineering page would have lots of problems... I made it in a hurry, as the client requested it in the last moment, and look at where this leads me :)I thought I had keywords and description... huh... maybe I temporarily removed them in some design iteration and forgot to return them... I'll check those, and the validator errors. [edit]Fixed those[/edit]As for the images, which ones do you consider heavy? I once made tests on some of them, and I got the best ones that didn't compromise quality too much. What kind of size would you deem "OK"?And I don't really understand the note about the table being wide than the layout... it fills the layout... on what browser does it go beyond it?[edit]Oh... If I reduce my browser window size, it does go beyond the layout. Is that what you had in mind? Does it look bad in 1024x768? The bottom of the page says the page should work at resolutions from 1024x768 above, but then again, I made those tests long ago (the third column in the table is one more change the client demanded at the last moment), so that may indeed be false now.[/edit]

What do you think about my report?
Once you make the automated tool, count me in as someone who'll promote it at every opportunity :) . Doing such "all in one" reviews is always good, even if only for verification of known stuff.I suppose there will be some things you won't be able to automate, such as the contrast report, and the layout issues... I suppose this makes your service a freemium? Provide automated reports for free, provide detailed non-automatable reports for some (I hope small) fee?BTW, as far as the business model goes, why not let users optionally include their server side code for a review, for an additional fee of course. You'd do a review for any security, stability, best practices, etc... it almost sounds like something even I would pay for (I say "almost", because I think I'm experienced enough to find most of those myself... if I bother to look that is). Also, I'd suggest you say on your page "Colors, contrast and readability", as this is what you're doing. Saying just "colors" kind of deminishes the value of this part of the report.
