  1. Okay will do it in like an hour , thanks a bunch for helping me (again) :)YaY ! It actually worked with the javascript ! And was so much simpler , thanks for the help , now I can focus on more important things ... like ... everythign else concering the site ... and my game Thanks again
  2. I just can't figure it out.The problem might have been that I did not inlcude the spacer.png , but when I did include the spacer.png in my images file .... all the images turned white.I just don't know what to do anymore.I guess I will have to ask you guys for the php command to check if the user is using IE of a version less than 7 , so that I can just display a pop up (how do I do that I have no idea , must search for that too) with a link to upgrade their IE.
  3. Thanks for all the comments guys , so ... IE6 has this problem only.IE7 shows it ok eh?I have IE6 .. or more like don't know , never cared have been using firefox since I can remember. I will try to email the guy from the site.If he can't help me I guess I will add a sticker or something on the left side : USE MOZILLA , you can save a kitty or upgrade to IE7If anyone thinks up any other solution for this just post it in this thread :blink:Also ... any tips about the site would help I am kind of stuck and it is my first site.I decided to just make all the areas of the site complete it as it is now and then start changing the layout... but got no ideas.Ofcourse the main problem is the IE one .. but hey , if we can hit one bird with one stone
  4. Yeah you are right , but still I got so much to work on .... never being satisfied with my site's look ... also exams , and now one more thing to worry about.I now officially hate IE , but I guess I have no other choice , I have to do it :)EDIT : I did what the site instructed.Basically downloaded that very nice script of his , which changes all .png in every file I am loading images so that MSIE shows the transparency. Now it shows the transparency as expected from the script but also I get every image in a white border , and a red X sign on the top left of every image (be it a link or not). That only by using MSIE , firefox is okay.Any ideas what the problem might be ? Click me by using IE , to see how my site is now shown by IE.Any ideas how to fix this 2nd problem?
  5. Thanks a lot :)Would it be very ... ehm .. bad of me to just say : USE MOZILLA and just drop the whole thing?(I will read the tips now , have not read them yet , so do not know how easy or not it is )
  6. I am still building my site .... it is under construction ... and to be honest I have been seriously lagging behind due to exams in the university But my main problem is this ... as I was checking what to do with it , I suddenly tried to view the site from Internet explorer and not Firefox as I did up to now.I was left speechless.ALL the images were as if their background was not transparent. You can go try it yourself.Check my site with firefox and then with IExplorer. I was still working on the whole look and feel of the site which I am not happy with yet .. but If I do not solve this problem I do not think I can continue with anything. I would really appreciate any help you guys can provide , thanks in advance.
  7. Merry christmas and best wishes to all the members of this forum from me too ! Even though I am new here I appreciate the warm and fuzzy community here so ... best wishes and enjoy your holidays !
  8. Yes I understand what you meant. And also very warm thanks for the help So far for the site design ( graphics so far , style e.t.c.) I got two types of comments from friends or people I asked. One is like reportingsjr's who says the colours are too harsh. The other was they loved it... wondering what to do now.Maybe keep those while experimenting with more combinations which might look better.
  9. No no , that is why I asked to see reactions.Thing is blue is kind of a "strict" colour and the whole idea of the site desing was "strict" colours and "strict" geometrical shapes. And I love blue , but I will think on it , comments like this is what I need
  10. I am a noob But how do you do it then?I can't understand how I could do it with css.Could you explain it a little more in detail please? Thanks in advance.I have already done it in php , but I would really want to know how I could do it with css. Also , which approach would be better? So the very general view of the website is done and uploaded. It is very basic and many things I have not thought of or designed yet ... but please do check it out and I would appreciate any feedback , tips or comments.Since this is the first time I ever attempt to create a website these are new fields for me so be Lenient
  11. Aha ! And here I was wondering ... I thought I had the grasp of css styling .... but I realized that with css I can't show the same images (menu images e.t.c.) in every page.So I should put those in a separate php file which I should include in every page I guess eh ? Now let's see ... gonna re-read the php tutorial of w3c to see how I can accomplish this
  12. Yeah I got that almost , that is why I asked again in the post.By "How should I implement it " I meant :Should U just code it in html?Any php scripting? What tools should I use?(php , html , xhtml e.t.c.) ?
  13. Hey all , after some time off from this I have some very basic layout done .... nothing is for sure yet and by the way designing a site layout is a lot more challenging than I originally thought So it has a logo on the top left corner of the site.Under it 5 Buttons.Next to the buttons the place where each thing you select from the menu of buttons will be shown. The buttons are :Home , Projects , Forums , Our Comic , About Us .Home will have the news of the site .... general news stuff the place I would like to update often.Projects will speak of our teams project (one for the moment )Forums will have a forum which I am planning to code later on php .... that is left for later ... I thought to use an already made one like ezboard or something ... but I think it would be challenging to make on myself ... if and when I have the time:)Our Comic will have a frequently updated archive of a certain comic I would like to put in the site. Now ... you might say and with good reason .. what the heck does a comic want in a game developing team's site?I think it would give me one more way to express myself , one more reason to update the site frequently and ofcourse .... maybe .. just maybe more dedicated traffic !And in the end the About Us button will .. be the usual About Us/FaQI am also considering google ads on the top and maybe something neat .. if something comes to mind later in the right side of the site.So if you read this post you might have gotten a general idea of what I am talking about. How do you think I should start implementing this one?Any help would be useful.Just point the way and leave the studying to me!
  14. Oh I see! Thanks guys.Yes both the above replies seem to work out what I wanted to get.Nonetheless though , site designing is in no way easy!I have spent days trying to figure out what layout ... colours ... style e.t.c. my site should use.Should I encounter any other problem/question I will be sure to contact you people :)Thanks for the help! (ofcourse I will google it first )
  15. No , nothing like that.Just the design of the site was supposed to be like that... I am just now realizing that this might not be possible and that maybe I should make the images look one on top of each other in an image editing program first and then add them to the website. Is my realization correct?
  16. Hello all , a while ago you told me that when I make a layout for the site with gimp or photoshop I should come and ask you how I should implement it.The site is quite simple for starters ... but after re-readingthe tutorials I am at a loss as to how I can load one image on top of another.Anyone can help me with this?
  17. Ok I will do it , but well since I do not own a licensed photoshop I will go for inkscape. Not that I know how to use it better but I heard pretty nice things about it.And I do not think that a site to present our team's current project/s would be something really complicated.Later I might want to add a forum but the whole site layout won't be very complicated.Unless something else comes to mind in the coming days I guess.
  18. It is almost certain that I will do some mistakes or do things the hard way while I could have done the easy way , even with planning. But that is all involved in the process of learning I guess.
  19. Very nice and constructive replies and for that thanks.I will try and follow everyone's advice and start planning/building the site.
  20. Hello , My name is Lefteris , I am a 20 years old computer informatics university student from Thessaloniki , Greece !And I love w3schools
  21. Hello all,First a very big thanks going to w3schools for their tutorials which I read all and must admit they are quite informative. The reason I read them was because I am making the site for our gamedevelpopment team. But it will be my first site ever and I would like it to be nice if not just decent. So after having read the tutorials how do you think I should proceed?View some page's source and change it?Start writting code form scratch ?What would be the best approach on this?I am good at coding c++ and java but web building will be my first time now. Thanks in advance for any advice
