  1. WHEN NECESSITY DICTATES A DESIGN, THE PRODUCT LASTS FOREVER.

    Eight (8) years later animation_s3.gif AND animation_w8.gif

I started linear/multiple browsing in NotJustBrowsing® (2005-2006) {most recently "NotJustBrowsing Desktop" (2015)} and I hope my new technique will supersede linear browsing.

    Nothing lasts forever. :)

  2. ...NotJustBrowsing, I do not mean to pick on you, but I've heard that story a thousand times, and it is misplaced blame. You did business with a stranger, online, and you got burned - I've been there and it hurts, but it wasn't PayPals fault the guy never sent me the replacement hood for my 924.
I did blame myself for not investigating the vendor properly because I never come across such situation before. Obviously in my case paypal is a facilitator with the vendor in dodging customers. After my dispute submition paypal knows what is wrong in the product, they should stop co-operating with that client. What I am saying is that Paypal's "dispute resolution" is a fake and gives wrong expression that Paypal helps in dispute resolution. It is these kind of things that demage internet sales growth and industry as a whole.
  3. Thanks. It seems safe then. Now I just gotta convince my dad that it's safe and stuff so he says yes for me to use it, hehe.
Real experience: There was a software that I tried and its help was disabled until you buy it. I bought it and paid using paypal. As soon as I installed it and looked for Help, I found it in another language (other than english). I asked the author to refund my money and I don't want his software. The author refused to refund and told me to have as much help from him as much possible (very kind he was). I tried to use paypal's "dispute resolution" and they refused by saying that it is a matter of software. Although you may never have seen a software in more than one language, paypal was useless. So, in case money is coming to you, paypal is good, the flow of money in other way is your risk (in my experience).
  4. Microsoft is a difficult nut to crack.

ActiveX Control ImplementationNot just a similar APIAn identical one! That's right, the Mozilla control will implement the IWebBrowser and DWebBrowserEvents interfaces that Microsoft have already defined for Internet Explorer.Since the Mozilla control implements exactly the same API, it will mean that developers can take existing IE code and port it, sometimes in a matter of minutes!
Above mentioned is from http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/control.htmMicrosoft changed everything including its web browser interface to kill the competition. MS changed its base of operating system to .NET (which is more like Java), re-defined its C++ and now abondoning it at all. In a year or two, we will see all Win32 things disappearing and that will hit very hard to all those leaning on Microsoft technology (including Gecko and the whole of Mozilla's Embedding API).So, practically Gecko ActiveX is usable for at the most two years from now. Keeping Gecko forward means re-writing it using latest .NET base and that may kill IE for good.
  5. I've got a better idea. How about you drop Trident altogether, stick with Gecko, and help put pressure on Microsoft with everyone else.
This is one of my aims to initiate directness between parties of all kind. After all I was here to listen to what people say and I will act upon what I heard. I also found 39%, 26% and 46% (2005, 2006, 2007) of my visitors using Mozilla , which I should not ignore. What you are saying is within the design of my browser, not in its entirety though but it will be sufficient to pressurise all parties. Thank you for your loud and clear opinion, I hope the resulting product will be pleasent for all. This is one reason that I wonder arround in public and not for product advertisement. Now to show you that everything is not rossy, I am quoting Gecko ActiveX component's lack of implementation. I hope that you will pressurise other party to be active as well. Notice the amount of "System::NotImplementedException".

  6. i have learn: html, (a little)xhtml, (some) javascript and css.and no i just go back so i dont forget tings befor i move on.but its a little boring some times, so i was thinking of make someting. (i have made a kind of webpage but i want someting else)so if anyone got some sugs.....
If you want to keep track of what you have learnt in an organized manner, notes with each page. Have a look at NotJustBrowsing (dot com), it is designed for this purpose. You can save your links in the form of a book. If you may wish to ask any question from me, you are welcome.
  7. You see this is at the root of the problem. We shouldn't need to have multiple rendering engines in a browser. MS is the last hold out to web standards. If they would fix Trident (or probably easier start over from scratch) to support standards and be able to release updates and new versions more than every 3-5 years then there wouldn't be any problem at all.
To tackle the companies like Microsoft, you should think smarter. Say, If in my software's next version I have two engines (Gecko, IE). And you people who are in terrible trouble, start writing web pages that are suitable for both browsers but can be seen best in the browser which support "Standards" (say Gecko). When people will see good looking pages in one and bad looking in another, they will use the one that gives them best result.Next thing "you people (the community in trouble)" can do is to raise the amount of money that you charge per page for making a web page compliant with (say IE). Because, it takes much more effort of yours.Pray that when Firefox become dominent, it may not play the same dirty game as the current dominent is playing.
  8. Gecko does not support ActiveX, and neither does any other borwser engine. ActiveX is another one of Microsoft's IE only features. Alot of things that require ActiveX can be done natively through JavaScript in standards compliant browsers. IE need ActiveX because MS JScript (IE's implementation of JavaScript) is lacking alot of new features. IE6 support the equivelant of JavaScript 1.3 (I believe) while Firefox and Opera were supporting the JavaScript 1.5 spec. IE7 made little or no improvements to it's JScript engine and they are not planning to release IE8 for atleast 18-24 months so it will be another long wait and much hoping that IE can deliver better support in the next version.
What I mean is that Gecko Engine in the form of ActiveX component, so I can embed it in my application. I have Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.7.12 downloaded from http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm which is more than a year old.If that version is OK for you guys, to be used in my next version? Or let me know if you know a relatively new version of it.
  9. Mozilla released Gecko 1.8.1.2 onFebruary 23, 2007 and are working on 1.9 for the projected Novemeber 2007 release of Firefox ..
I am working on providing multiple engines to choose from for each page, Can you please provide a link for Geck 1.8.1.2 ActiveX ?I like Firefox too but the question is that can I embed Gecko successfully in my application without compromising its advanced functionalities? If I am lucky, you will see both engines in next version.Don't give up, disagreements are part of life too. Now I know how much trouble "you people" are in, I will try to ease some of it in next version of my software, if I succeeded in embedding Gecko (here I am not certain).
  10. Hah, that's exactly what I thought when I read the Russell quote. You seem very certain of yourself NotJustBrowsing.
"... fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves"Does "are alwayws" in Russell's quote mean anything ?
  11. what accusation? You are the one whole claimed to be the "fanatic" thinking outside the box and being innovative and being persecuted for your vision.Being certain of yourself doesn't make you right and taking precautions is not a bad thing either.to that I'll respond with your own words...
Being innovative is the word that I used for myself, "fanatic" and "thinking out side the box" are accusations that you are spreading of your own initiative.
  12. I agree wholeheartedly. As someone who also designs web pages I have felt the anger and frustration when I design a page and test it in Firefox and Opera and it looks good and then as soon as I open up IE everything is wrong. It's Microsoft's fault for not making standards STANDARD. For you to also disregard standards as much as you have I also have a strong dislike for your browser. This is not me saying that you haven't done anything good with it. It is definitely creative and something different, however you can't come waltzing in praising it as the best browser on the face of the planet when it will cause so many problems for so many people.
If IE is causing any problem for your work then you should think of some ways to overcome this problem and make your life easier. Is it appropriate to shout at everybody who is using IE engine for one reason or another?I have written a million lines or so to use IE engine for .NET 1 and Microsoft changed its WebBrowser model in .NET 2. Am I shouting at Microsoft that I re-written a million lines again with some extra functionality and improved outlook of my software? No. I initially designed this software to cope with such drastic changes by Microsoft. These things people learn from each other and not start bullying just because of some hidden agenda. In a previous post, I pointed out that here is a useful tool "The Web Tailor" in my browser that you (third person) should look into, using it might save you some time and effort when you are dealing with IE. What answer Have I got?
  13. Did you just call yourself a fool? It is not that wiser people are full of doubts, they know better than to act without thinking of the consequences first.Nobody is going to "open up their minds" as long as you are making up your own definitions and making false claims.
You should try to remain within the boundaries of decent language and stop accusations. Are you trying to be better intellectual than Bertrand Russell? There is no harm in it though.
  14. poor notjustbrowsing :), just shows not to mess with the top 5 posters of this forums..... :)change your login name as justbrowsing and do that, you wouldnt invite so much trouble.... :)
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. Bertrand Russell British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)
Only name "NotJustBrowsing" should have been enough for some people to open up their minds.
  15. Yes I'll give Bill a call tonight...developers have been after MS for years from this. I don't expect you to fix it, it is just a complete contrifdiction for you to, now, say you support standards when you use the IE engine. No I don't tell a client that, I develop the site to look the same in all browsers, it can be a hard job to do but it is necessary if oyu are a developer. If you knew a little more about web design then you would have made such a foolish statement.MS has admitted it's shortcomings in IE and that is why they created conditional comments to allow you to insert different code for IE to make up for it's lack of standards support.Yes I am biased toward IE and so is anyone else who has ever designed a serious web site. And you are a biased programmer because you promote IE. So what?!?Do a little research before you assume anything about a subject you are unfamiliar with.
What are you going to moderate in a "Browser Discussion" if you are biased towards a browser that has a support from 80% of users? Is the owner of this forum work for Firefox? and he specially appointed you as a moderator because of your loyalty to Firefox? When did I promote IE? I am using IE engine only because it is most widely used (80%) engine available. Do you know when last time Gecko engine was updated for users who wish to integrate it in their applications? (15/12/2005 http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm).Why do you hate a browser that is used by 80%, and your job moves around browsers? Why did you join this discussion if you hate IE? Are you trying to be just a bully? Or are there only two people in this forum and you pretend that there are 6000 or so.
  16. I would gladly like to point out that IE has dropped below 80% usage and IE6 in particular has dropped below 50%http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.asp...e=M&qpsp=97
May I say that you are biased moderator, your biasness is towards IE and instead of biting on Bill Gates's ears you are chasing me for using IE.I am telling you about the facility that you can use to improve your web pages according to how they can be seen in IE. Will you go to a customer and tell him that the page you designed is according to the standards but you have to use Firefox to view this page correctly?w3c_standard.css is not a custom file it is provided by w3c to be followed, is it bad to have that mentioned in my software?
  17. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. Bertrand Russell
I offered "aspnetguy" some evidence according to his intincts, now my guess is that he will use my software.
  18. Do me a favour, download my software. Open "The Web Tailor" from "Tools" main menu.1. Write down in your reply, 4th and 5th link in the top right hand ComboBox.2. In the same tool, Open tab "Preview" and look at the bottom for "Style Sheet" and a ComboBox for selection of a style sheet. Write down in your reply, something that you may find interesting (hint: it begins with w??).
I save you from using my software and tell you the answersA1. (4th Link) => http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/ (5th Link) => http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/A2. One of the style sheets is : "w3c_standard.css" which is recommended by W3 on their website. When using this tool "The Web Tailor", you take a piece out of any web page, you can view this part of the page using style sheet of your choice and also using w3c_standard.css .I told you because you might use it in a beneficial way for your own good. For example, you can use this tool to see the effects of different style sheets on a page element (or page). Perhaps it will improve your efficiency. The issue I am trying to address in my browser is how to avoid short falls if people don't follow standards. What will you do now that you bashed me about "standards" for three pages of your forum and found now that I am the one following and preaching standards as much as I possibly can?Unfortunately, "Justsomeguy" lost his temper while reporting a bug to me that he should report to Microsoft.
  19. Write down in your reply, something that you may find interesting (hint: it begins with w??).If you get confused after looking at above references, cool down a little bit and re-read what I wrote about standards.

There are ways for you to recognize things like VSS on a page, for example you could use an object tag which is a part of the spec.
Now, since you missed the opportunity to ask any question, so please explain to your members why people introduce new tags? Also, write down VSS replacement using Object tag for others to know how to do VSS (that I am doing) using Object tag.Let me and others know where I made mistake in not choosing Object tag.How difficult it was for you to ask, "why I created VSS tag instead of using existing Object tag?". Because you are acting as a "prosecutor" and "Judge" at the same time. Leave it for others to decide who is arrogant.I have never seen anyone using insulting language to ask a question and getting an answer as well. I can't blame the one who has got 7 years of experience at the age of 25, for anything either.
  20. One thing I just realized that people who are talking big and using this character (#), their ages are less than my experience in the industry. That is the reason that they are not understanding a word of what I am writing. For example

As I said earlier, big organizations develop products progressively, invention is not in their designs.
That is one of the single most rediculous statements I've read in this topic so far. Big organizations do not invent??? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? At this point I'm beginning to suspect that this whole discussion has been a joke. Are you aware of how many patents companies like IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, AT&T etc etc etc have? Do you know what is patentable? A new invention is patentable. When AT&T Bell Labs invented, no, excuse me, progressively developed, the transistor, or Unix, or the C programming language, what exactly did they base all of this stuff on? What did they improve upon to invent a transistor? More importantly, what is your point? Are you seriously trying to imply that you are all about invention, invention, invention, and the largest companies on the planet just can't do that? WHO THE ###### DO YOU THINK WORKS FOR THOSE COMPANIES? Do they hire robots? Or do they hire the best and brightest people working in their fields?
In one short sentence, "people invent for organizations to exploit". Yes, organizations do not invent and that is what you have written as well. Do you think hiring inventors is same as inventing? You have gone too far without understanding what is written?
Oh, please. A good programmer does not need to be told what to do. Who told Linus Torvalds how to build Linux? Who told Zeev Suraski and Andi Gutmans how to build the Zend engine? Who told Kernighan and Ritchie how to design the C programming language? Who told John Carmack how to build a 3D game engine? Who told Bram Cohen how to build BitTorrent? Your arguments are rediculous at best, inflammatory and inciteful at worst.
Perhaps you don't know the distinction between a programmer and a designer/systems engineer. A designer can also be a programmer but a programmer is not yet a designer. Sooner or later you will realize that things like "Linux", "Zend" engine etc are not because of their creators programming skills but because of their design skills.
Oh, really? Well, I found a bug. It seems that your third-generation browser does not even support the second-generation specifications. When can I expect a fix for this?
This bug is due to you people writing standards without consultation with the implementors. That is why I am saying that you are going "nowhere" with this "standard" business. Take my word for it, count on my experience which is more than your age. These organizations will sign on to a standard and implement a different standard. Don't be angry on me if you are unable to chase these people to follow non-binding standards. If there is such thing as standard then it should also be seen inside organizations, specially your favourite one (Microsoft). What standard did microsoft follow when designing .NET 1 and what made them change their standard for .NET 2, not to mention the C++ language change in each of their version.
Actually, if the only reason you came here was to advertize your browser. .
No.Sorry, it is wrong place for me. I apologise for my presence in this forum.
  21. I am finding it hard to understand the things you are saying. To show up out of the blue and begin talking about your browser and want us to use it yet you act arrogant, you belittle web standards, you say you are more innovative then many large companies that have help make the web what it is today, and you won't answer a simple question about how many people have downloaded your browser (most likely because very few have).I hope for your sake you never decide to go into marketing or sales. You have successfully made a horrible impression and personnally don't care if your browser is the best thing ever invented. I would never use it and never recommend anyone I know use it.
If you hear what you want to hear then you will not expand your knowledge base.It is not "out of blue", I applied for membership with my correct name, used my registered trade mark to identify myself. I have been allowed to join in this forum after verification of my credentials. Now that I joined this forum with correct identity, what do you expect me to talk about? One thing for sure, I don't want anybody to use it until they need it. Whenever you see something new, you try to find out if you may need it or not, for humans it is a natural thing.Do you think that I should have pretended as someone else and told "guys, have you seen this browser? it is fantastic, try it"?As far as knowing about standards or infact anything (including programming), I must admit I know very little. But is it about me knowing or not knowing anything? No, it is about you who got the chance to talk about something unusual and refusing to take the opportunity seriously. There is a lot to learn in my not answering your question. Perhaps you don't want to know what happens when someone introduces new things or you already know. People who introduce radical changes, normally end up stoned. Your attitude is nowhere near those people yet.I don't need to tell about something that is visible to everybody. If you will not use it then how you are going to tell others not to use it? It takes a couple of minutes to install and reject a software, for your satisfaction that you didn't miss anything.
  22. I have no idea what you are talking about. I asked oyu a simple question and you are talking in circles about completely unrelated stuff. So you are a better programmer than everyone at Microsoft, Mozilla, and Opera? Wow oyu have a high opinion of yourself. these companies are focusing on standards compliance and many other features that have been requested.
People at Microsoft, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera should get credit for what they have achieved but not for what they did not achieve. A journey towards "nowhere" will take a person to "nowhere".As I said earlier, big organizations develop products progressively, invention is not in their designs.A good programmer will do what he is told to do, if there is no person to tell them what to do they are useless.I answered your question in a manner that suited me because question was not about the product itself.
  23. wow you avoided my question twice. I searched for user reviews of your browser and found none. I also looked at the number of downloads from each of the download sites you advertise on there doesn't seem to be very many, maybe 4 or 5 downloads per site.
As I mentioned earlier, instead of presenting my work of art in front of learned audience to obtain another degree, I presented it in public domain. The person who presented it is unique in his effort so does the reviewer should be. Have you ever seen any software professional to come and defend his creation in public, except ..Even If I am present here in this forum and in another forum to answer any question about my software but did you see anybody questioning? Can you stop using my software because nobody else is downloading?
  24. You rank 4,644,679 on AlexaFirefox is 769Opera is 663 I dont think you even get a 1000 downloads a month
From start, my intention is not to chase "rankings", I never explicitly employed any technique or paid any money to anyone to increase my page ranking.Google page rank that you see on my website has moved one number up from 4 to 5 in recent times because my software is more known now than before. For a website like mine (though simple) a rank 5/10 should tell a lot.It is more of a shame for IE/Firefox/Opera to be in that position and not providing their users what I am providing. Do you know what made Opera to be available for free? The point is that I am providing a service that neither of them can provide nor they are capable of doing so.It took only 1/5th of the time as compared to others to bring it to this level.Do you know that you are comapring at least 10 years of organizational efforts with a single person's two year's effort? But what is the point in saying that I don't get 1000 downloads/month?
  25. hoe many downloads have you had? Are users reporting any bugs?
Users not reporting any bugs, perhaps they don't want to stretch me for freeware. If someone will report me a bug, I will fix it.You will find NotJustBrowsing in top 10 freeware of February at http://www.freeware-guide.com , when actually I released it on 27th of February (in two days). I expect it to be in that position in March too.How many downloads? Diplomatic answer could be a 4 times increase in traffic on average per day for this version from previous one.People recognised the concept as early as in "May 1, 2005" (visit http://hazeratti.stumbleupon.com/) even when software was of very poor appearance.
