1. What do you guys do? what have you done? (story time)As far as I've seen, you haven't done anything... But then again I don't know what I'm looking for. (good thing I guess...)

2. I invited my friend Mitch over (who had a site) and he helped me get my first website on Oct. 11, 2003. I started learning html by copying websites and making pages, alot of the time it was coping Mitch's site. That website was call YellowstormThen I created my own work with W3schools help call Ultra Link (nothing to do with linking BTW)After W3schools tought me all it could about DHTML, I moved to Net ViewNet View still ran on a hosting website untill the last month of it's life when it go moved to a vitural server. Then I got my first server (Windows 2000) ... current siteThen later I got my current Linux server ... current siteThat's my life... in a nut shell. All 3 years of it!

3. so I have an empty array and I want to add arrays of data to it, but still have it one array..$empty = array();then I want to add$data1 = 1, 2, 3, 4; (each #, being a set in the array)$data2 = 5, 6, 7, 8; (each #, being a set in the array)then when $empty .= $data1;and when $empty .= $data2;then $empty will be $empty = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8;this all correct? Will that give me what I want?---- ---This is 2nd part, I want another answer... kinda different from the 1st part above the ---- ---Then I also want another way that put it in it's own setso I have:$empty[0] = 1, 2, 3, 4;$empty[1] = 5, 6, 7, 8;for this, Can I go:$empty = array(); $empty[] = $data1; $empty[] = $data2;

4. Nope, nothing to add... I was just looking at the page and it was like "likely to be drunk" and I was like "WHAT??"so you changed it your self? How did you do that? I didn't know you could do that... (maybe if you were admin, but not just a normal user...)

5. Now everyone, before we go listening to Justsomeguy, remember he's "Likely to be drunk"Vs me, being an "Advanced Member"If this is shocking and you need proff... look under his Avatar and above his blue bar...

av-4190.jpgLikely to be drunkpip.gifpip.gifpip.gif
And as we know justsomeguy to be our movie star, he is going to act like a movie star... going to (quote) "say things he doesn't believe to be true" like the movie stars over in hollywood... because as we all know, being drunk causes you to lie, not tell the truth!
6. But I know for a fact that your server has been offline for several days.
yeah, it was offline for 2 weeks when I was switch servers. Not really, I was more like moving to a different CPU body... It was a mess. Then I added another HD before I installed FC5 and it cleared all the HD clean, so I lost data... But it did work better than DOS at clearing the HD. Clean, spotless, magical... One had drive had 3 OS on it... Windows 95, 98, and XP... no wonder is was so full.I'm always going to say do it your self... that's just me, it might not be the best answer for everyone. RISKS and REWARDS ... less risk, less rewards. With other people hosting my for free I got 12 MB of space, and could only use HTML, CSS, and Javascript. With Me hosting my self (parents paying for power and DSL... giving me old computers) ... it's still free but I get 40GB, HTML, CSS, Javascript, php, python, asp, external referancing scripts (What ever you call it but C, C++, java... secondary), Perl, FTP, HTTPS, CRON, full access to apache... so far unlimited bandwith (haven't reached the top yet..)computer, buy or build your ownbird house, buy or build your ownchair, buy or build your ownhouse, buy or build your own...guess your just have to weigh your wants and risks and time...If I had a large website like Wikipedia, I would use a datacenter. That always seemed like the best non-free way, that I would go in the future... "Live like your die tomorrow, and learn like your live forever.." I'm here to learn, not pay someone else.I want to hear what justsomeguy says about datacenters.
7. justsomeguy, how long have you been doing php? Do you have a degree in computer science or something of that nature?yeah, it has a pattern... the one I showed you.Cool Cool, I'll post back in a little bit... see what I get with sscanf.

8. For my $1000 example I was taking http://www.v7inc.com/7GB Storage300GB TransferUnlimited Subdomains100 MySQL Databasesat $79.95 per month!! $960 per year... sry I rounded.---- ---Justsomeguy... you need to calm down. This guy wanted a server for this parents website... Not for NASA or the FBI. The chance of hacking is one in a billion or something like that for a server that small. If you have virus protection that automaticly update, and a firewall... I use Linux, few hackers target this market. I have a firewall and virus protection, so what's left is a very small hole. So what's the chance that some will be a hacker that wants to hack me, then find this small hole, without me finding out. I'm not stupid, I don't invite hackers... I keep up on patches and stuff, I also get emails from my server on what's happening.

9. so what is the easiest way to compair if something is in 2 array and remove it, IF IF IF you only want to match the middleI want to compair parts of each set in array to parts of each set in another array...Example: (set 1 in array 1) "01 http://google.com GOOGLE"(set 1 in array 2) "03 http://msn.com MSN"(set 2 in array 2) "07 http://google.com THE GOOGLE"so I only want to compair the URLs in each array, not the whole set in each array... just http://....com, not the number before it or the Title after it.. so there is still a match if 01 and 03 are different, or there is an extra THE
10. I like how easy you make that sound. "Install Fedora Core 5. Now install Apache." This stuff is very complex to set up, especially if he is unsure how to make a website in the first place. Installing, configuring, and administering a Linux web server is something that people get paid upwards of $100,000 a year for if they can do it well. It's no easy task, and the various groups who write Linux distros have yet to come up with an installation process as simple as Windows.
Man, I feel way smart now, knowing I can get it on the first try! Fedora Core 5 setup isn't hard, they just ask you question about what you would like on your new system... although I would suggest a short cut method. Also the best way to install FC5 is to install the minimum! Then you can just have yum install the rest later... so you don't have to worry about CD being corrupt and stuff.Hosting your own website is the way to go IF:You are logical, computers are based aound this... You don't give up... getting mad will not get you in the right dirrection. You want to, If there's a will, there's a way...Hosting your self costs alot less!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Using myself as an example:DSL costs before server: $20DSL costs after server: $20Server power costs before server: $0/yr.Server power costs after server: $3/yr.Buying a computer to be a server $0 (didn't got one free 640MB of RAM, 40GB, 17" monitor...)time fixing server because network problems: 10 mins per year (man, I wish I had a static IP address... GRR)CDs used to install FC5... 15 ... I HATE WINDOWS, I HATE WINDOWS, I HATE WINDOWS, WHY CAN'T WINDOWS DO ANYTHING RIGHT... Like burning a simple CD. My Windows has a success rate of 1 for every 4 CDs. Or I could have skip all that 'hard work' and paid $1,000 per year to have the same service I give myself with hosting my self! Now I know what your thinking... eather I have a double magor in Computer Science and Programming, along with 8 years of college education, and 35 year of experance .................... or I don't even have my GED yet, and didn't even know html 2 years ago.so... an IT can't do it but a kid who was born yesterday can... what is this world coming too..P.S. the secret to installing Apache without thinking or any pain is "yum install apache 'enter' " ..wow..
11. use an if statemment to check if the field is null. Then don't take that field into account...I would get each thing at a time, like get everything that matches field one... unless it's empty, then get all the data. Then take the remaining data and only keep what the 2nd field has and though the rest away, unless the field is null... then keep all the data from before you started this one. Continue doing that until your done with all the fieldsso again it will be like: get all data: if not blank remove data that doesn't match: if not blank remove data that doesn't match: if not blank remove data that doesn't match: if not blank remove data that doesn't match: anwser(s)

12. but that doesn't solve the -, +, (), OR, AND thing...so... when I'm getting the URL arrays I will check for (, AND, and ORif it's (, I will continue until I find )if it's OR, I will include the next array in the last arrayif it's AND, I will what ones are in both arrays.but what about - and +, where should I check for them... where would work best?

13. php is server side, you can only process php if you have the php software installed on the web server that hosts your website... some web hosts don't support it.If you have your own server, then go to php.net and download an install it!

14. Ovaire d'Oz, can you give us a web page that has this problem... I don't really want to make my own. So it's the a problem when you have images as bullets? Is the script valid html and css?

15. I would just go with what seems best... I use the easier of the methods. There's no point in writing 100 lines of code to do the work of one regular expesssion, even if they are slow. When I question what one to use, I just think about how much work will happen with each way... although, most of the time I go with string functions..like with your way, I would use string functions because it's much easier to explode by ? and " and then getting some data ... vs. coming up with %\?[^"\s\S]*"% Then when I think about it both ways are checking every charactor but the regular has to check the ones after it too... over and over again. Unless I'm working with an unknown amount of dynamic data (like with my search engine) then it's easier to go with regular expressions because you don't always know how much your going to find..

16. I haven't had time to write this last part of the search engine, I will try to get to it Monday or if not I WILL on Tuesday!!So... It will work like this (so I don't forget) and it's open source so you can just download the source in a couple of weeks... anyway (I have to debug, test, and add admin browser innerface)1. Get a set of words... the term2. break up the term by 'space'3. look up each word after removing -, +, and ().... but also make sure the word isn't OR or AND. Then put each array of URLs into one master array. But before you need to join arrays that have an OR4. go though using the script justsomeguy gave about... giving point to the begining of the array and the word of the sub-array to the end. (needs a little work because the URL is in alot of junk)5. go though and order all the URLs... repeats of URLs are taken out in #4 (don't worry about that) order by the begining number, then by the following rank, then by the URL... (lol)6. go though a for statement printing each set in this results array!sound good everyone... does to me, except #4... because I can't use justsomeguy's way. unless I make a sister array that will hold the URL as the other array holds all the data. bingo!

17. I don't think I can explain it more, the explaining was like 3 times longer than the code it's self... With the Search engine script I made my comments that explained what I though were like:// stuffI wonder what I ment by that?!?!?!I explain it so people new to html and JS would get it... alot of people ask about how to disable right hand click
