If Dreamweaver did not exist, I would pick Notepad ++ over all of the rest. It is, in my opinion, the runner up of Dreamweaver. It has the colorful text, FTP access, recognition of code, and it has tabs! It can also remember what you type in, in the case that you want to redo or undo something. I trust Notepad++ when AD4 isn't there
