  1. Thank you for taking time to help me!
  2. Okay, I hereby dedicate myself for the next six months to a year to learn how to build a specific kind of website. My goal is a membership site where members can view each others' profile pages. The site should also display ads through a keyword-based ad-rotation system based on age, zip code, marital status, etc. Now my question is . . . what coding/programming should I study? Any guidance will be (big-time) appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Hi. I want to build a custom dating site with e-mailing and rotating ad capabilities. Problem is, I don't know what scripting/programming to begin to learn. Can any of you who are experienced help me understand what are my choices? The hardest part is knowing what to learn and focus on. Thanks to all.
  4. Can anyone recommend a free, open-source dating or online community script?Thanks so much.
  5. Does anyone understand why my CSS background color [i.e., background-color: rgb(255,255,210)] show up so YELLOWISH on so many of my friends' browsers-computers?
  6. If copyright issues are pertinent here, why are there so many digest sites like this up and running on the Internet now?
  7. I'd like to build a digest-type news Web site . . . you know, the kind of Web site that presents the headline and first few lines of a news story published on another Web site and allows the readers to click on an image or text and go to the publishing Web site to read the rest of the story.Is there a software/scripting (especially open source) package that can accomplish this?
  8. I have set my table cell #3 to 246px and have placed an image (called keyboard.jpg) with a width of 246px in it as a background image (the only cell in the table with an image), yet the table cell has expanded beyond that 246px width.I have to set the cellpadding to 5px because I need it for legibility for all the other cells in the table. Can I turn off the cellpadding for just this one cell #3 that has an image in it? Why does a background image in a table cell react to the table's cellpadding? Should I remove the keyboard.jpg as a background image and make it an in-table image?<em?Whatever the case, how can I make the image fit nicely without any extra space in the cell?</em>Here's my code and my stylesheet:<div id="table"> <table width="725" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" class="table"><tr> <td width="1"> </td><td class="cell1" width="130"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla</p><p>Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell2" width="124"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell3" width="246"></td><td class="cell4" width="174"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla<br /><br />Bla bla bla</p></td></tr><tr> <td class="tdblue"> </td><td class="cell5"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell6"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell7"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell8"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla</p></td></tr><tr> <td> </td><td class="cell9"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla</p></td><td class="cell10"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla Bla bla bla.</p></td><td class="cell11"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla </p></td><td class="cell12" width="174"><p><strong>Yada</strong></p><p>Bla bla bla Bla bla bla Bla bla bla </p></td></tr></table>Here's my stylesheet:table {width: 760px;margin: auto;font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;font-size: 11px;font-weight: 400;line-height: 150%;text-align: left;text-decoration: none;letter-spacing: .5px;}table td {vertical-align: top;} td.cell1 {background: white;padding: 5;width: 130px;}td.cell2 {background: #F7F4EE;padding: 5;width: 124px;}td.cell3 {background: #ffffff;background-image: url(../images/keyboard.jpg);background-repeat: no-repeat;spacing: 0;padding: 0;width: 246px;}td.cell4 {background: #F7F4EE;padding: 5;width: 174px;}td.cell5 {background: #DFE5F0;padding: 5;width: 130px;}td.cell6 {background: white;padding: 5;width: 124px;}td.cell7 {background: #DFE5F0;padding: 5;width: 246px;}td.cell8 {background: white;padding: 5;width: 174px;}td.cell9 {background: white;padding: 5;width: 130px;}td.cell10 {background: #F7F4EE;padding: 5;width: 124px;}td.cell11 {background: white;padding: 5;width: 246px;}td.cell12 {background: #F7F4EE;padding: 5;width: 174px;}.tdblue {background: #DFE5F0;}.tdtan {background: #F7F4EE;}
  9. There is no Web tutorial site better than W3Schools. Period. It's not even a question. So that's why W3Schools.com MUST create a detailed tutorial on how to make tableless Web pages correctly with CSS. Only W3Schools.com can do this correctly WITHOUT wasting my time.Are you for this suggestion?
