  1. Yes, I've read that. Why would I need to use an array with into one output number though?
  2. Ok, so I can't figure out the way to actually display the output of a SUM function. $showsum = mysql_query("SELECT SUM(read) FROM messages WHERE to='$yourid'"); I've got that, but now how do I show the sum?
  3. Ok, my situation is that I'm trying to select things from a database randomly. There's no random select feature in SQL (as far as I'm aware), so I'm trying to use PHP to randomly select an ID to pick from the database. That's simple enough, but the problem is that I also want to be able to delete things from the database. If the random integer function picks a number of an ID that has been deleted, I'll get an error.I could take all the IDs from the database and then select randomly from the array, but that would be too much information to extract since this is a user-input database and cou
  4. Thanks, another thing, though. I'm withdrawing this code from a database, so the only thing I can think of is writting some php code that replaces the mentioned characters with things like '&lt'. I guess I should have posted this in the php section, then, but is there a special function that does this in php?
  5. I'm wondering how I should go about displaying some code in plain text without it actually performing what the code does. Specifically, I'm trying to display some youtube embeds as just text.
  6. I have a problem, my footer does not stay at the bottom of the screen when there is not enough page content to push it down. This leaves a white strip of the page bellow the footer. What can I do to make the footer auto align to the bottom even on a page that does not reach the bottom? I'm not sure if this should be done in html or in css, so i just put it here.
