  1. Thanks ,

    I ran html thru :

    http://toolbox.seositecheckup.com/

    It came up with these messages :

    " Congratulations! Your page does not use HTML deprecated tags. "

    " Your webpage is using 4 inline CSS styles! "

    " Your website does not contains any keywords! "

    " Congratulations! We have not found underscores in your in-page URLs! "

    " Congratulations! This URL and all internal links on this page are SEO friendly. "

    And here :

    The HTML document is valid, but it contains some warnings that should be fixed.
    <select> Isn't Allowed In <tr> Elements (At line 20, column 1)
    Discarding Unexpected </td> (At line 31, column 6)
    So i added <td> to code .

    </head>
    <body text="#000000" style="background-color:#A69E80; text-align:center;">
    <br> <br> <br>
    <!--dd <div style=-->
    <table width="100%" border="0" style="text-align:center" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
    <tr style="text-align:center">
    <td>
    <!-- EXAMPLE: <MenuName="aaMost-Used"> -->   <!-- rgb(250,240,255) -->
    <select style="width:200px; font:14px Arial Black; color:rgb(0,0,0); background-color:rgb(231,169,126);" name="menu" onchange="window.open(this.value)">
      <option selected="0" value="">aaMost-Used</option>

    <option value="https://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/chronological/today?version=NLT">One Year Chronological Bible NLT</option>
    <option value="http://www.portablefreeware.com/">portablefreeware.com/</option>
    </select>
    </td>
    </tr></table><br></body></html>
    Then got the 'ok' .

    The HTML document is fully valid.

    But of course this doesn't fix the original problem .

    Thanks...vm

  2. Thanks :

    The code below works for edge explorer , except for video style

    ( <video controls autoplay border="0" style="left:100px; top:400px; height:500px; width:500px;" alt=""; > )

    "left:100px; top:400px; height:500px; width:500px;" .

    But in chrome , audio plays , but video is Black .

    Any ideas why ?

    Thanks..vm

  3. Hmm...

    This is worse :

    <select style="width:200px; font:14px Arial Black; color:rgb(0,0,0); background-color:rgb(231,169,126);" name="menu" onclick="window.open(this.value)">

    A click results in browser trying to go to the DropdownMenu label .

    ..vm

  4. Hello & Thanks ,

    I have a small DropDownList with 3 options .

    Problem is when I select , let's say , 2nd option .

    No probs , a new page is opened .

    If I click on option 1 or 3 , no probs .

    However , if I click on 2nd option again , instead of clicking on 1 or 2 , no new page is opened .

    Is there a way to correct this , so that clicking on whatever always opens a new window .

    Thanks...Vern

  5. * Thanks dsonesuk :
    There was one major key for me:
    #1 When you said "You can't float a floated element below a block element (pageSection),
    the floated elements should be first, then the none floated last."
    That is the statement that unlocked eveverything for me ,
    everything I have been trying to figure out over the last two weeks .
    VOILA! everything worked .
    Unfortunately the " https://gsnedders.html5.org/outliner/ " doesn't yet show properly .
    So I still have some work on that part . Things are looking up .
    Thank You very much for that , dsonesuk !
    Below is the working code & current Outline .

  6. I made nav and aside smaller , and added Boilerplate .

    Not much difference . Still can't get nav and aside to float: .

  7. Hello & Thanks ,

    I am trying to layout my webpage with a <nav>(float:left) and a <aside>(float:right) .

    I put colored borders/padding etc., so as to make it easy to see the different sections .

    I would like to lay it out without using the twoCols trick .

    Also , i'm using Chrome with ElementInspector turned on .

    When I get it all layed out using ElementInspector , and then edit the page to match ,

    when I refresh page , with the newly edited values are all changed ,

    the browser changes it all back , so that it looks lousy again .

    Can someone please show me what I am doing wrong .

    And show me how get <nav> and <aside> working properly .

    Thanks..vm

  8. Aha !

    I tried both of your helps , within the context of my html , still neither of them worked .

    Turns out there was a <link href= here :

    <meta charset="utf-8" /><!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]--><title></title><meta name="keywords" content="" /><meta name="description" content="" /><link href="style_html5_liq_lcr_s2_m1000_hh75_fh50_eh_2.css" rel="stylesheet"> <style>

    When I commented it out ,

    <meta charset="utf-8" /><!--[if lt IE 9]><script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script><![endif]--><title></title><meta name="keywords" content="" /><meta name="description" content="" /><!-- <link href="style_html5_liq_lcr_s2_m1000_hh75_fh50_eh_2.css" rel="stylesheet"> --><style>

    Then this

    strong {font: 16px bolder; }                                                  /* some of the values that can be used normal/bold/bolder/lighter */.strong {font: 32px bolder; /* some of the values that can be used normal/bold/bolder/lighter */}

    all started working .

    Hmm..

    Does that mean that

    rel="stylesheet"

    takes precedence over local <style> ?

    Thanks..vm

  10. Thanks All ,

    I have been studying up on html5/css3 . See my resulting code below .

    Here are the pages I find most useful :

    For the examples above , though they are greatly appreciated , I find using the div's andthe two_cols , and table's approach , very confusing . The sequence/positioning of the html code for two_cols I find baffling .
    So I eventually tried to create an html.page using only the html5 sectioning elements .
    The acid test of course is , does it Outline correctly (the way I want it to) ?
    Here is the output of the Outliner (https://gsnedders.html5.org/outliner/) followed by my code .

    1. 1st header City Gallery
      1. nav
      2. 1st section London
      3. 2nd section Paris
        1. 1st article
        2. 2nd article

        [*]3rd section Tokyo

        1. 3rd article Places to see

          [*]1st footer [*]2nd header City Gallery

          1. nav
          2. 1st section London

              Here is the code :

              <!DOCTYPE html><html><head><style>header {    background-color:black;    color:white;    text-align:center;    padding:5px; }nav {    line-height:30px;    background-color:#eeeeee;    height:300px;    width:20%;    float:left;    padding:5px; }section {    width:20%;    float:left;    padding:10px; 	position:relative;}footer {    background-color:black;    color:white;    clear:both;    text-align:center;    padding:5px; }</style></head><body><header><h1>1st header of  'City Gallery'</h1></header><nav >    <h1>nav</h1>       <ul>            <li><a href="#">Home</a></li>            <li><a href="#">About Us</a></li>            <li><a href="#">Contact Us</a></li>        </ul></nav><section><h1>1st section London</h1><p>London is the capital city of England.               I would expect that google would read it ok , and not penalize that page .

              If anyone sees any fault with my code , please eplain it to me .

              Thanks All ..Vern

  11. Thanks Hilal .

    I tried all sorts of table , div's etc., combinations but nuttin' worked for me .

    By nuttin' worked , I mean it didn't outline correctly .

    By outline I mean , the outline of html5/css3 that the browser makes in order to read the info correctly , especially search engines .

    I will make a general reply (below) to All those who have helped me .

    Here is the site I submitted my html to , in order to get an Outline of my html .

  12. I'll try again with no <code> .

    Maybe I'll try a Quote .
