if you have a corporate e-store, you my not want to use google, custom things appeal much. but if the vendor is someone else then the whole story changesBut you can always have a form that submits to Google and have Google only search your site. You just need to make sure that Google has your site indexed. -
making a shopping isn't so easy as though it seems, you my want to use some Open Source, see my sig. But if you want to create a e-store on your own, things reqd. CSS, JS, PHP (or any other), DATABASE, and most above of all security, anyone could find flaws and start to destroy things. if you are going to make it yourselft download a copy of the free oS available and see their search engines.so final answer: to start a business use OS, or learn or hire someone.

you cannot do this with only html, some server side scripting , will be needed, if you want to custom design it learn some scripting language or use in built auto install guestbooks features, saves you a lot of time and headache, but if you want to be skillfull and don't want to miss out on the HTMLearning experience then go learn them

i think unless you are in a hurry, dont use tables for layouts, learn css. it would help.coming to what you neededi did not understand what you need. you need a html layout without using <table> and <td> tags, and i dont have any idea about that,Since you mentionned you were a beginner maybe tables are easier for now. , maybe a site example, or pictorial layout...if you just want data in single columns there is absolutely no need to us tables. or maybe i am wrong.

right.2 very different groups of devlopers are making those votes. Goes to show some of us are visually and creatively inclined while others of us are more procedural and text based.
i go with notepad, not becoause it's good or other things but i have never used dreamweaver in my 2 yrs of webdesign learningI fall into the latter.
