1. Interesting. So where are these elements actually defined? How did JS know that the js_x-uploader meant to bring up a windows explorer window? Thanks, Ray
  2. Keep in mind I am not a web designer or PHP or Smarty developer. So, I have this smarty.tpl script that I am trying to figure out how the code flows. It uses smarty for creating templates. Within the file is an <i html tag. Researching it at https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_i.asp tells me it is used for styling text. However, I have the following: {__("Add Video")} My question is: It appears that the js_x-uploader affects

Interesting as I really can't see the board owner taking the initiative to include XML.

I guess I wasn't clear. Who develops the XML or JSON code that is being used on the liberalforum or any othersite for that matter? I doubt that this particular site owner did it so that is why I asked if it comes with the software package? If I find a problem with XML or JSON being returned from the site, I need to know who is responsible, the site or the softwarevendor?Ray

No I'm wondering why one query returns valid json and the other don't?Here's a dumb question: When you purchase something like a forum software (IP Board), does the XML come with it?Thanks,Ray

Ok so as it stands now, using IE, if you browse to: http://novir.us/test.php?url=http://libera...l.php?showforumit returns valid json. At least it validates at JSONlint.comHowever, if I browse to http://novir.us/test.php?url=http://libera...hp?showforum=44(notice the only difference in the URL is the "=44")I get Warning: simplexml_load_file() [function.simplexml-load-file]: http://liberalforum.org/liberalforum/xml.p...wforum=44:2072: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding ! Ok, there is a difference between IE and Firefox. In Firefox I query: http://liberalforum.org/liberalforum/xml.php?showtopic..and I get:<ipb> <categories>

Main Political Forums

http://liberalforum.org/liberalforum/xml.php?showforum=24
<forums> <forum>
I cut off the rest to save size. Now in IE using the same query I get: The XML page cannot be

So what do you do when you do a query for XML, convert it to JSON and when you validate it,there are errors? One error showed an extra double quote mark. Thanks,Ray

Actually I will be trying to create an app using Yahoo Connected TV Widget Development Kit.It understands Javascript and XML.It's actually a huge undertaking on my part due to my inexperience with Javascript and XML,but what the heck. I'll give it a try and see how far I can get with it.Ray

Ok, the json now validates with the "header('Content-Type: application/json');" before the echo.(without the header, it does not validate).I still get the save file request. I'm not sure how the app is going to react to this.It may be awhile until I'm at the point to actually test this with the appas I need to do some upfront work as well as figuring out how to parse out what I need, when I need it, where I need it, etc.I will keep you guys informed if you want.Again. Thanks a ton for all the help!Ray

The errored line is 146 which is the line where the duplicate json begins.Still confused as to why I am seeing this. And fixing the "Content", I now am seeing the file save box.Ray

I added the "header('Cotent-Type: application/json');" to the beginning of my script.I still see the blue text.Is this something I should be concerned about?Ray

Hmmmm....I don't really want to see a download box. The json output will be echo'd back to anotherapplication that will parse out the needed info.

Go here: http://www.novir.us/test.php?url=http://li...l.php?showtopicThe top stuff returned in the browser looks good.At the bottom of the browser, there looks to be about 12 lines with blue text. About the 3rd blue line you can find:{"categories":{"category":[{"id":"24","name":{},"url":{},"forums":{"forum":[{"id":"44","name":{},"url":{},"description":{},"type":"1","topics":"71,384","replies":"1,589,844","lastpost": etc....Notice noting in the name , url or forum. Should I just ignore these?Ray

Ok I tried it and it sure looks a lot better! One thing though, I am seeing double the output. If you start at the bottom and work back you'll start seeingthe empty tags (
,
, etc.Ray
