there shouldnt be a huge current through a normal cat5e cable... unless your doing something with Power-Over-Ethernet. messed up cable?

Yeah, i know the feeling. I wrote my entire clan's website in about a week only a month after buying my first PHP book. Uploaded it, it was all good, until I realised the HTML side of the site, which i had put together in 5 minutes, didnt work with IE. So, i tried picking my code apart, seeing what was wrong, but so much of it was php-generated and messy I gave up and got a good ol' CMS. I was still working on my version of the site on-off for a few months, until last week when we decided to give up the clan. So all-in-all, it was a good learning exercise, but got me nowhere in the end.

mmkay how about we all get together and write a program to define spam from normal messages that cant be fooled and is totally perfect in every way shape and form

Most people will be able to recognize spam when they see it, so just go to the bottom of the thread and click . the mods should be able to delete it prettty soon after. and a few more mods cant hurt either.

Whilst in a debate in religion class we got into this. we came across the point "how do you know when to believe? god, give me a sign?". maybe if you believe in it it makes religion real. I dont know... im expecting to come across "the answer" and have a heart attack or something...

well xhtml is just a stricter HTML, so its best to get the basics before making everything perfect. then, as real_illusions said, css is a good thing to learn, and maybe javascript after that

I'd say a blessing. Take a look at 10th century London. A city no more than a few miles across and populated by wooden houses. People die aged 40. 50 if you're lucky. Now take a look at 21st century London. Millions of people (mostly) living in much better conditions and a life expectancy of 70 years (i think...). Try and tell me that isnt a blessing. Kind of going onto the whole progress vs simplicity thing, but the general idea is the same. Another example, my phone. two years ago i didnt have a mobile phone, and i couldnt go out of the house because my parents would not know where i was. Now i can walk around to my friends' houses, hang out, own people at lan parties, and if my parents need to contact me they just need to press a few buttons. Some might say that this induces theft (carrying a mobile phone) but biometrics will hopefully put this into place too.PS. That would be because if he let Lennie live the angry mob would hang him. Im doing Of Mice and Men as a case study in English

Dunno about 132591 but I'd like some C++ tutorials. I've been trying to learn it from books for a while, just cant get the hang of it.

I believe it can be done through javascript, not sure how though.

I'll post feedback here because I dont have email set up on my PC (only webmail).Good site, well laid out with a nice color scheme. Cant really fault it, only the content is not my type of thing (but that isnt critisizm is it ). The feedback thing could be better by adding a php script to eliminate the need for the user to have an email account.Anyhoo, the general message is: good site!

The hardest bit would be downloading the .htm file, all the rest is just rendering HTML by finding tags and writing stuff to a form. As for any functionality like JavaScript, VBScript etc you'd have to learn the languages very well. Embedding Flash and Java... probaly easier. If you're planning on creating a browser to wipe the floor with FireFox, IE, and Opera then I have to say its not worth trying. If you just want your own browser for the fun of it, then sure why not.Oh, and welcome to W3Schools
