  1. Hello, I have been using W3 tutorials to create custom code elements on my weebly website. Lately I have been having issues with a code I created from two separate tutorials: image roll over and responsive size. The code is situated within a greater grid created with weebly's building tools. Image rollover and responsive size work in W3's try it editor, but on my website only the rollover works. On a full size window everything looks just fine (the bottom left is the custom coded element) but a slighter smaller window results in a slide bar to view the full image, because it will not
  2. Hello, I’m a beginner and I’m trying to link my html file with my css file. Mi css file is inside a folder called css, in the same folder that the html file. I’ve written in the head of my html file: <link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”css/styles”> But the thing is I can not change my tags background colors neither nav, neither footer, content… I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but maybe you can help with that. Thank you. estilos.css index.html
  3. I've been struggling with W3 CSS for 2 days now, but struggling means learning so that's okay. I'm trying to rebuild this page to make it responsive : https://hdauctions.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Autobahn.html I'm struggling when combining grid, responsive and layout classes but i'm please with the responsiveness of following code. But taking care of the height of the two responsive blocks is not working. According to layout "Side-by-side w3-cell elements will also automatically self-adjust to equal height" Any suggestions ? Did I do well for a non css'er ? <!DOCTYPE

  9. Hey, I'm new to CSS and trying to figure something out. I want to have my search bar so when the user clicks it, the entire page fades except for the search bar. So although the bar itself doesn't change, it creates the effect of it being highlighted. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great! Thanks Dan
  10. Hello everybody I recently found this simple Image Hover Effect on w3schools: Image Hover Overlay: https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_image_overlay.asp This even seems to work on mobile (iOS) devices (touch), as far as I could test in the tryout editor. I then saved the provided code and published it on my own hosting (https://hammermann.ch/test.html). It's still working on desktop, but not on mobile (and I haven't changed any code at all) Any Ideas how to solve that? Thank you and stay healthy! Pascal

  15. Hi everyone, I'm a complete newb to this, so I feel questions are a great way to get my feet wet, here we go. I am using a Laravel Website. It's very bland looking. There is a CSS section, and I will provide a screenshot...but I have no idea what should be entered....do i need to create CSS files, or...honestly i'm, clueless. 16. Here's the reference code: https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_js_image_comparison.asp I'd like to be able to get this to duplicate and have them appear side by side. Putting the HTML code into tables doesn't work. If I increase the size of the pictures they run over each other. I think the issue is within the CSS. Here's a sample of code: .img-comp-img { position: absolute; width: auto; height: auto; overflow: hidden; } I was able to move the snowy mountain picture by copying the code, changing the element selector to ".img-comp", changing position to r

  18. Hello Folks, Newbie here, learning via w3schools.com. I think I'm missing something basic, but I can't figure it out.I'm using w3schools to create a hero image (via https://www.w3schools.com/howto/tryit.asp?filename=tryhow_css_hero_image), but when I upload that code to my host, and then using different screen resolutions, the image is distorted. Viewing it on 1024x600, I see the hero image of the guy holding a camera, but if I view it on a much higher resolution, the image is "zoomed in" to the top left area of the picture. Here's the code, any help would be most appreciated: &

    CSS Animation

  22. Noob here. I have been playing around with W3.css, in particular the w3-row-padding, however I would like to set up five columns, with some padding. Can anyone advise me how I might go about this (I'm guessing it will involve nesting some containers?) Many thanks.
  23. Hi The guide on making a scrolling header is great, but it relies on javascript running every time you scroll. That is really expensive (resource-wise) and contributes to a laggy an unresponsive website. I think the guide should be updated to use sticky css-elements instead of js. This method does not have the same performance issues, and I'd argue it's an easier and more elegant solution. The new guide is pretty much already written here. The support for sticky elements is not perfect, so there is a discussion to be had about whether to prioritize browser support or performance, b
  24. Hi, I did animated leafs on my web-page and after that my links did'n work. I tried to set the animation to run just one time, but it didn't help. Is just so, that animations and links don't work at the same page? Animation is made with @keyframes.
  25. I'm trying to set up a template for a website, with a responsive top border with dropdowns in the navigation bar. I thought I had it all working at one time, but have gone back to previous files to no avail. The menu is responsive, and goes down into a hamburger icon, but clicking on the hamburger icon does nothing. I'm trying to do this without using too many external files. I think the problem must be in the javascript function combined with the media queries, but I haven't been able to see the problem. I used the W3Schools responsive navbar with dropdowns, from https://www.w3school
