  1. Hellos! I'm having a problem with a border: What I want to do, is to create a line between my site title and my header image. It would be a bottom border for the title. I want to use an image instead of the normal lines, that you normally use. The image is a sort of a chain which I want to span through whole page. What I've tried out so far is:border-bottom: url("/mywebsite/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/chain.png") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent

  3. Hello there! I was just wondering..Lets say you have a site with 50+ pages. And lets say you would like to add a new stylesheet, or your want the original one in a Folder called styles. 4. My page does not view correctly in other web browser than Firefox.I want the page to have a "book/magazine" design, where you flip to the next page in HTML. I managed to get the design i wanted, but when i view my page in other browsers, it does not look like it does in firefox. Here is the page I am talking about -open in Firefox for correct view, and then try safari/chrome/opera. Why is it like this?http://www.ia-stud.h...strate/inn.html Here is the source-code:<html><head><META HTTP-EQUIV="CONTENT-TYPE" CONTENT="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><META NAME="COPYRIGHT" CONTE
  5. I have a div animated by incremented margin-left when the user clicks a button. I would like to force the animation to stop at a specific margin-left value and callback a different animation. So if the user tries to click too far it prevents them from doing so. Suggestions? I'd like to do it with margin because it'd be easier to edit later, but if I have to use .position.left as a variable, I'll take the code for that just as well. Here's a wacky selector I tried, to no avail, if it helps convey my intention: $('.slidingDiv[style*=margin-left:80px]').stop().animate(.....); I didn't bind it to
  6. Hi, I'm simply trying to induce a gap between my navigation area and my content area, like this website:http://www.thearteryfoundation.com/ But whenever I try adding padding or margin, my two div's seem to be attached at the hip. HTML: [/s][s]<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">[/s][s]<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">[/s][s]<head>[/s][s]<title>Metalcore</title>[/s][s]<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="main.css" /> <!-- Main Paige Styling -->[/s][s]

  9. Hey! So I have an intersting situation:I am trying to make a div stop moving left past a certain point when the browser is resized. But in the method I am using, I can no longer position the Div to sit exactly where I want! I want it to float: left at 50%, and be offset left by about ~150px. My code looks like this: div.main_content {padding: 0 195px;margin: 0 auto;}div.inner_content {position: relative;float: left;top: 150px;left: 50%;margin: 0 auto;min-width: 400px;border: 1px solid #000000;background-color: #A0CFEC;text-align: justify;overflow: hidden;}<div class="main_content"><d
  10. Hello Everyone, I am having difficulty getting a CSS background image to display properly in webkit browsers (Chrome, Safari), but it displays as intended in Firefox, IE9, and Opera. The site in question is: http://www.gnosisstudios.com In the upper right hand corner there is a folder looking tab that says "Contact Us". The "Contact Us" tab is inside a div that should align directly with the div above it as I have not entered any margins or padding. However in Chrome and Safari there seems to be a padding of about 25 pixels between the div above it and the tab itself. This began displaying in
  11. Dear all, Currently I am building a website for my study/myself but start to experience some problems, maybe it's impossible to do but I would like to take a shot. Underneath the following URL my website is located.http://www.nielsschreuders.nl/webtest As you can see, this site exists out of one page only in which multiple sections "home, products, about,..." are located by scrolling through the page all sections can be seen. Though, in the product section I have implemented 6 spry collapsible panels but page 3 is getting confused when two spry's underneath each other are collapsed. What I wo

  14. Hi, I'm relatively new to CSS, and have been trying to learn to use some of the newer CSS3 features recently. I've been trying to get an effect looking similar to lens vignetting around the edges of a web page and decided to try using the "box-shadow: inset [etc...]" property to do so.However, for some reason when I apply this to my "body" in CSS, the effect does not extend to the bottom of the page. Instead, it seems to be constrained to the extent of the padding around the body element. The only reason I thought it would make sense to add the box-shadow to the body in the first place was bec
  15. Update again: Solved, thanks to ShadowMage! Turns out Dreamweaver was putting in strange characters that the browser didn't understand, most likely from copying & pasting from Firebug. Update: Posted an example, cant figure out how to link so scroll down to the bottom. I've been running into this problem on several occasions the past few months and it can be a major setback. What I have to do is take a Joomla website template and make changes to the CSS to get it to look how the client wants. I usually do this by making overrides as opposed to changing the original code (don't want to roya

  18. Hello my name is Alexander, the last year and a half I've been trying to work on building websites myself. I work on it for a few days or weeks out of a single month, then I quit for a few months and started back up. I quit because my frustration and inability to learn this stuff. I have read and watched and asked so many people, forms, Videos, guides and other tutorials. I'm not familiar with a lot of the terminology and other file associations that go along with building websites. I use Adobe Dreamweaver and probably not use anything else. I know most of the Adobe product and found out but

  22. I've been playing around with site making and through tutorials and such nothing "exactly" tells how to position anywhere you want, at least nothing I've seen. My site is here http://www.moonanbeings.com/I want it to be as you see now, but correctly. I'm using CSS to place that image center there and I don't think that's how it should be. It shouldn't be through CSS and it shouldn't be a background image. Having it like that is like my easy way out. So, how do I get that background image to be a regular image and center, center for every resolution?
  23. I have an image that kind of serves as an opaque background, and once hovered the opaqueness goes away. Also, I have a row of list items to serve as a menu, and once hovered the color of the text darkens to become more visible. This works great. As long as the mouse is directly over each element. The text element is directly over the background. What I want though is to have the background stay apparent as the text is hovered over, instead of the background becoming opaque again if I hover directly over the text. Can this be done without Javascript? Or is there a way with CSS3 to have the elem
  24. Hey mates. I want to share this information with you all who may be having the same issue. On Windows my webpage background and images display well. but on linux/ubuntu i was unable to view the images on the web page. Finally it worked after i changed the image name to its correct case. Example: background-image : url('images/gradient1.png'); changed to background-image : url('images/Gradient1.png'); It applies to html too. Hence i believe its better to practise using correct case when dealing with links and image names.
  25. Hi forum, I've been struggling with an annoying bug in IE7. You can see in the pictures how the nav it's correctly displayed in any friendly browser and in that spooky thing called IE7. I've put a red border around the <li> elements so you can see what's the problem in IE7, hope you can find me to find the solution to it. Chrome IE7As you can see the <li> elements are being extended to the right and overlapping the <span> element in the right. Here's my HTML and CSS for reference HTML <div class="category-image"><img src="images/PipelineImage.jpg" alt="main-pic-deve
