  3. i have the following html and javascript, how can i shorten the javascript ? html and javascript at - http://jsfiddle.net/GZhvM/2/
  4. I have downloaded several WordPress plugins for text expansion. However, none of them seem to have the one feature I need.I need to be able to click a link to expand the text, but when you click a different link, it closes the previous one as well... Are there any ways to do this? I don't know very much jquery, but this seems to be the favorable way to do it... Can anyone hold my hand a little here?http://beta.cleantelligent.com/benefits-test-mobility is the page with the current expander plugin activated. I'm currently using one called Expand +Collapse Funk.Any help here would be fantastic! Thanks!
  5. I'm doing a project for a client and the Financial Adviser's in the company needed to be able to visit a page and create a report on the fly: Visit a webpage and be able to create a report based on a question form, This is an example of the report. Client's Name: (Name is entered) This name will be replicated throughought the report as well as other information (this is just a quick exmaple). First Question: "what are you serving the client?" Answers: "Pension", "Investment", "Mortgage", "Protection" Based on the answer a set of questions will appear below relevent to each answer. For example if the Advisor choose Investment then the following question would be (as an example) "What is the clients attitude toward risk managment?" Answers "Incliened to take high risks", "Inclined to take some risks", "Not very inclined to take risks" Based on this a paragraph related to the question would appear in the report which is being created below. Then another question (also which appeared based on the answer Investment) would of appeared This question would also have the same functionality as the one above, Essentially what i am trying to achive is create a report which is created on the fly based on a form and a pool of questions (prefably not stored ina database to keep it simple) related to each answer, then copy the report from the website to a word document. As you can see i have tried to be as descriptive as possible with what i am trying to achive, I have little knowledge of Javascript/Jquery, I would be greatful if you could point me in the right direction by telling me what i need to do or any good tutorials. What would be amazing is if someone kind person could create a simple framework for this page in which i can develop further. Thanks Ieuan.
  6. Code pen link What I want:To fade our image, overlay text. Problem: It kind of does what I want but when you leave your mouse over the image, it goes through fade in / fade out loop.
  7. Hi everyone, I am facing a crisis here. I have a textbox, named businessInfo_businessAddress, which contains client's address loaded from the database when the page is loaded. I have a hidden field, named tracking-select-business-country-code <input type="hidden" id="tracking-select-business-country-code" value=""/> which is supposed to store the country code after the google map api is called. In the included javascript file, where the google map api is called, I have piece of code like this function getCountryCode(targetAddress){ console.log("in function getCountryCode"); var input = document.getElementById(targetAddress); var autocomplete = new google.maps.places.Autocomplete(input); console.log("autocomplete: "); console.log(autocomplete); var lat = "37.09024"; var lng = "-95.71289100000001"; console.log("before calling google map api"); google.maps.event.addListener(document, 'load', function () { console.log("after calling google map api"); var place = autocomplete.getPlace(); if (!place.geometry) { return; } lat = place.geometry.location.lat(); lng = place.geometry.location.lng(); var address_components = place.address_components; console.log("address components: "); console.log(address_components); var country_code; for(var i=0; i< address_components.length; i++) { var address_component = address_components[i]; if((typeof address_component !== "undefined") && (typeof address_component.types !== "undefined")){ if(address_component.types[0] == "country") { country_code = address_component.short_name; } } } country_code = $.trim(country_code); console.log("country code:'" + country_code + "'"); $('#tracking-select-business-country-code').val(country_code); }); }function _webGetCountryCode(){ console.log("in function _webGetCountryCode"); getCountryCode("businessInfo_businessAddress");} And in document.ready I have a piece of code that trying to call that function like this <script> $(document).ready(function () { var oldAddress = $("#businessInfo_businessAddress").val(); $('#tracking-select-address').val(oldAddress); var country_code = $("#tracking-select-business-country-code").val(); if(country_code == "" || country_code == null) { console.log("country code is empty"); google.maps.event.addDomListener($("#businessInfo_businessAddress"), 'focus', _webGetCountryCode); $("#businessInfo_businessAddress").focus(); getCountryCode(); } var country_code = $("#tracking-select-business-country-code").val(); console.log("country code (when loaded): " + country_code); ............... </script> I got this error in console.log Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'value' of null I guess it must have something to do with variable autocomplete (just guessing). Anyway, what I need is that after the form finishes loading (ie. $(document).ready is called), google map api must be called with the value contained in the textbox businessInfo_businessAddress (for example: "Atlanta, GA, United States") and return the country code for hidden field tracking-select-business-country-code. I wonder how can I do that? Any idea? What change do I need to make in the code? Please help!!!! Thanks everyone.

  10. I have "Checkbox" input with multiple values. <input type="checkbox" name="drug" value="1" /><input type="checkbox" name="drug" value="2" /><input type="checkbox" name="drug" value="3" /> I want to run through this array and alert() all the values. I'm guessing I should use Jquery's .each() command but I'm not sure how to use it. the problem is, I don't understand how to use it so I can get the key and it's value. $.each($("input[name='drug']"),function(i,v){ alert(i+": "+v);}); What am I missing in the main idea?
  11. I have eight instances where I adjust the CSS using jQuery. Six of them work just fine. Two of them don't work at all. Lines 151 and 159 do not alter the CSS as they are suppose to. Looking at the file, I process all eight triangles using the same syntax. Hovering over a triangle hilights that triangle, and highlihghts the syntax that builds it. The top-left and the bottom-right triangles do not change color on hover. The other six triangles and corresponding text highlight just fine. Here is link to the site. I have also attached a copy. So far, I have attempted changing the id of the particular element to another name, thinking it may be a reserved word problem. I have also combed the code for syntax errors, but have not found any. I am using jquery-1.8.3.min.js . Please help.

  15. My site http://charleybiggs.com.s64567.gridserver.com/ is working properly in Chrome and Safari. When you click on certain boxes (the boxes with the plus sign), specific divs load at the top of the page. In Firefox though these divs are automatically showing when the page loads. They are supposed to be hidden until a box is clicked. Anyone have any idea why it’s doing this? <script type="text/javascript">$( document ).ready(function() { $("#music").click(function () { $("#musicinfo").slideToggle('slow'); $("#fpinfo, #behindinfo, #behindinfo, #signupinfo").hide('slow'); }); $("#fproduct").click(function () { $("#fpinfo").slideToggle('slow'); $("#musicinfo, #behindinfo, #behindinfo, #signupinfo").hide('slow'); }); $("#behind").click(function () { $("#behindinfo").slideToggle('slow'); $("#fpinfo, #musicinfo, #signupinfo").hide('slow'); }); $("#signup").click(function () { $("#signupinfo").slideToggle('slow'); $("#fpinfo, #musicinfo, #behindinfo").hide('slow'); }); $(".exit").click(function () { $("#behindinfo, #musicinfo, #fpinfo, #signupinfo").hide('slow'); }); $('#behind, #fproduct, #music, #signup').click(function(){ var divLoc = $('#top').offset(); $('html, body').animate({scrollTop: divLoc.top}, "slow"); }); });</script>
  16. I've got 2 buttons with their own jquery scripts. One launches a fancybox video and the other shows a hidden popup contact form. I had the contact form (which shows another 'thank you msg' class when submitted) working fine, but now that I've added the fancybox button I think the stopPropagation is interfering with fancybox and I can't get them to load together. Is there away I can get my popup form to work without stopPropagation? Does anyone know how I can approach this better? <div class="buttoncont"><div class="innercont"><div class="thanks" style="display:none;"><p>Thanks for contacting class</p></div><div class="social"><!— FANCYBOX BUTTON LINK —><div class="fancybox-media" href="http://vimeo.com/9532951" rel="media-gallery"><a class="btn"> <span class="playarrow"></span><span>watch fancybox preview</span></a></div><!— FANCYBOX BUTTON LINK END—><!— CONTACT US LINK —> <a class="btn2" href="#innercont" id='link'><span class="contactbbl"></span><span>contact us</span></a><!— CONTACT US LINK END —> </div><div id="subscribe-pop”><p>DIV POPUP TRIGGERED FROM CONTACT US LINK</p></div><div id="badge1”><a href="http://www.site1.com"><img class="badge1" src="images/badge1.png" height="auto" width="100%"></a></div><div id=“badge2”><a href="http://www.site2.com"><img class="badge2” src="images/badge2.png" height="auto" width="100%"></a></div></div></div> FANCYBOX SCRIPT <script type="text/javascript">$(document).ready(function() {$('.fancybox-media').attr('rel', 'media-gallery').fancybox({padding: 0,openEffect : 'none',closeEffect : 'none',prevEffect : 'none',nextEffect : 'none',arrows : false,helpers : {media : {},buttons : {}}});});</script> POPUP FORM SCRIPT <script type="text/javascript">$('html').click(function() {$('#subscribe-pop').hide();$('.thanks').hide(); });$('.innercont').click(function(e){e.stopPropagation();});$('#link').click(function(e) {$('#subscribe-pop').toggle();});$('#mc_embed_signup .button').click(function(e) { $('#subscribe-pop').hide(); $('.thanks').toggle(); });$('#mc_embed_signup .cancel').click(function(e) { $('#subscribe-pop').hide(); });$('.thanks').click(function() { $('.thanks').hide(); });</script>

  19. Okay, i have been working on a solution for alot of time now, and i can still simply not figure out what the ###### is wrong here. So im asking here for a new set of eyes, again -.-'. If you would just see the uploaded picture, you can see the menu does NOT go outside the content area. This has happened on MANY of my projects when i was trying to integrate a jQuery based menu with help from a few .JS formatted files. This is my style.css code: * { margin:0px; padding:0px; font-size: 9pt; font-family:"Trebuchet MS";}body { color:#000000; background-color:#AAD491;}#wrapper { color:#000000; background-color:#7fc655; If possible. Thanks ALOT! rootKID

  21. Hi, I'm having a glitch when testing the compatibility of my site in IE10. It works just fine in FF, safari and chrome on my macs, iPad and windows laptop. But my jquery navigation menu and fancybox image gallery just don't work.My site is under development and seems to be just dandy on all browsers except for IE10.:For some reason the menu bar and photo gallery, which are both powered by Jquery just dont work. I've noticed when I removed the fancybox scripts for my other pages the menu behaves but on my homepage in testing on IE10 on windows 8 it's not right. I also tried to link my jquery to the latest version on Google but all that seems to do is break my scripts in all browsers.Can anyone shed any light on this for me..., I've tried everything aside from going fxxk u to IE. I hate papering over problems, I like to resolve them...Here is my code:Code:<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.16/jquery-ui.min.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="jQuery Sliding Flexible Menu v2/deploy/js/jquery.sliding-flexible-menu-v2.js"></script><script src="SpryAssets/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="jQuery Sliding Flexible Menu v2/deploy/css/sliding-flexible-menu-v2.css"><script type="text/javascript">$(document).ready(function() { //Horizontal $("div.menu-horizontal").slidingFlexibleMenuv2({ buttonSpacing: '1' }); $(".fancybox").fancybox( { transitionIn : 'elastic',transitionOut : 'elastic',easingIn : 'easeOutBack',easingOut : 'easeInBack',speedIn : '650',speedOut : '650',changeSpeed : '650', padding : '0px', });});function MM_effectAppearFade(targetElement, duration, from, to, toggle){ Spry.Effect.DoFade(targetElement, {duration: duration, from: from, to: to, toggle: toggle});}</script><script type="text/javascript" src="fancyapps-fancyBox-2bb0da9/source/jquery.fancybox.pack.js"></scr ipt><link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="fancyapps-fancyBox-2bb0da9/source/jquery.fancybox.css">`Anyone got a clue why this aint working in IE????Full site herehttp://www.heggie5.webspace.virginmedia.comCheers
  22. Hi I'm missing an example about how to combine a jQuery slideUp() and slideDown() effect. I'm well aware that I could use the slideToggle(), but this method is not always suitable. So may I suggest that such an example being added to the section example section of jQuery Effects - Sliding http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/jquery_slide.asp Thank you in advance

    jquery link

    Per http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/tryit.asp?filename=tryjquery_lib_google I tried using <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js"></script> in order to use JQuery, but it didn't work. After some research, I changed it to this: <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script> and then it worked. Might want to update the tutorials. Regards lylez

  25. I currently have a javascript slider in place. It's on autoplay at 5 seconds per slide. The second slide has an iframe youtube video.Unfortunately, if I click play, 5 seconds later, the slider autplays to the next slide.Is there any way to get the slider to recognize the video is playing, for example? Or are there any other ways around this that anyone can think of?The JS code is simple, I'm using http://jquery.malsup.com/cycle/ for my slider. <script type='text/javascript'> jQuery('#slider-1').cycle({ next: '#next-1', prev: '#prev-1', fx: 'fade', timeout: 30000000, pause: 1, pager: '#slider-nav-pager-1', height: '433px', width: '960px' })</script>If you need more code, let me know. It's just a simple iframe.Thanks!
