  1. Hi, I have two pages. The first page has two links, when a user clicks on one of them then s/he can view some information. I have used an image viewer taken from http://projects.sebastianhelzle.net/jquery.rondell/examples/carousel.html and I have set it according to my needs. the code of the first/main page is: <html><head><title>Animals</title><script>function loadXMLDoc(){var xmlhttp;if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); }xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("rondellCarousel").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","second.html",false);xmlhttp.send();}</script></head><body> <a href = "#" onClick = "loadXMLDoc();">Αnimals</a><br /> <br /><a href = '#' >Cars</a><div id = "rondellCarousel" class = "false"><!-- I expect to see the image viewer here :/ --></div></body></html> The code of the second page is: <!DOCTYPE html><html class="no-js"> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="scripts/jquery.rondell.css" type="text/css" media="all" title="Screen"> <script src="scripts/modernizr-2.0.6.min.js"></script> <title></title> </head> <body> <br> <div id="rondellCarousel" class="hidden"> <a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/band.jpg" title="My favourite band"> <img src="images/band_small.jpg" alt="Band" title="My favourite band"> <h5>Awesome concert</h5> <p>My favourite band.</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/dog.jpg" title="My dog"><img src="images/dog_small.jpg" alt="Dog" title="My dog"> <h5>My dog</h5> <p>Standing in front of a glass door and wants in.</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/cat.jpg" title="My cat"><img src="images/cat_small.jpg" alt="Cat" title="My cat"> <h5>My cat</h5> <p>Sleeping...</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/boar.jpg" title="Boar"><img src="images/boar_small.jpg" alt="Boar" title="Boar"> <h5>Dead boar on the wall</h5> <p>Hanging around.</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/snow.jpg" title="Snow"><img src="images/snow_small.jpg" alt="Snow" title="Snow"> <h5>Winter wonderland</h5> <p>The german alps.</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/rabbit.jpg" title="Rabbit"><img src="images/rabbit_small.jpg" alt="Rabbit" title="Rabbit"> <h5>Bunny</h5> <p>In my brothers garden.</p></a><a target="_blank" rel="rondell_1" href="images/trash.jpg" title=""><img src="images/trash_small.jpg" alt="Trash" title="Trash"> <h5>Trash</h5> <p>Somewhere in the USA.</p></a></div> <script src="scripts/jquery-1.9.1.min.js"></script> <script src="scripts/jquery.rondell.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript">(function() { $(function() { var carousel; carousel = $("#rondellCarousel > *").rondell({ preset: "carousel" }); $(".resize-button").click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); return carousel.fitToContainer(); }); return $.ajax({ url: "http://www.wookmark.com/api/json", dataType: "jsonp", success: function(data, text, xhqr) { var item, rondellContent, _i, _len, _ref; if (text === "success") { rondellContent = ""; _ref = data.slice(0, 25); for (_i = 0, _len = _ref.length; _i < _len; _i++) { item = _ref[_i]; rondellContent += " <a href="" + item.image + "" title="" + item.title + " @ " + item.url + "" target="_blank" style="display:none"> <img src="" + item.preview + "" title="" + item.title + "" width="" + item.width + "" height="" + item.height + ""/> </a> "; } return $("#rondellCubic").html(rondellContent).children().rondell({ preset: "cubic" }); } } }); });}).call(this);</script> </body></html> The problem is that, even if Ajax works without getting any problem, the pictures are not presented like a "carousel image viewer". If I put directly the second page in the address bar and browse it, I see the images as I wish (like a carousel image viewer with next/prev arrows). Can anyone help with that? Thank you in advance.
  2. hi. w3schools was my first coding school ever. so I like it a lot. however, recently I have went through the Jquery EVENTS section and I was shocked to see how big the missing information on that section was. First of all, The Jquery change event (i.e. changing checkbox) and scroll events are too important and their examples must be included ot help the beginners. Change event and scroll events are FUNDAMENTAL of Jquery. I will give 2 examples on fiddle so I hope you would add it to jquery even section. 3. Hello, i'm wondering is it possible to pass variable inside <script></script> to another <script></script> field. Example i have <script>var message = "Hello";</script><script>alert(message);</script> I know i could add them together in this script i write, but my actual codes is separating the scripts.
  4. Hi, I'm rather new to webdesign and I have a little problem with my first page. If you take a look at http://www.linkedrecords.com/testsite/index.php and click on the "AGB" Button, a center panel opens with a small navigation menu on the left side.I wanted to use a jQuery effect to scroll internal anchor links, but all I have tried just doesn't work. As there are some other scripts running on the page, could there be a problem with them? I appreciate every help and suggestions if you think my scripts need improvement. Thank you, j.link
  5. Ok, so i still work with the whole thing, but this is what i try to figure out. 1. LOOK AT UPLOADED PICTURE FOR SEEING MY DESIGN! 2. as you see, i have only made the css/html part (a danish website (own project)) and the box to left (with the loading-bar), a simple image. I was wondering if anyone in here knew how to change the html text under it like (Data OK) or something like that if the username we got back was true and OK before moving on to the index.php page?.. 3. just to clarifie, it's an user-login page i am trying to figure out here ... 4. 6. Okay, title says it all... im needing a little help understanding a few things, but i think i have a hold of something. My php code: $HTMLOUT .= box_start_full_size("Latest News");//$HTMLOUT .= "LATEST NEWS..."; $res = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM news WHERE added + ( 3600 *24 *45 ) >".time()." ORDER BY added DESC LIMIT 2");if (mysql_num_rows($res) > 0){$button = "";$id = ""; while($array = mysql_fetch_assoc($res)) { $id .= $array['nid']; $HTMLOUT .= "<div id='index_newsbox".$id."'>";//ID for jQuery to work... $HTMLOUT .= "<a href='#' id='toggle_all'>"; $HTMLOUT .= "Toggle All"; $HTMLOUT .= "</a>"; if (get_user_class() >= UC_ADMIN) { $button = " <div style='float:right;'> <a href='#'>Edit</a> <a href='#'>Delete</a> </div>"; } $HTMLOUT .= " <div class='news_headline'> <span class='span_news_headline'> {$array['headline']}n </span> {$button} </div>n"; $HTMLOUT .= "<div style='display:none;' class='news_body'>"; $HTMLOUT .= "<span style='float:right;'>".get_date( $array['added'], 'TINY' ) . "</span>n"; $HTMLOUT .= nl2br( $array['body'] ); $HTMLOUT .= "</div>n"; $HTMLOUT .= "</div>";//end of news ID/jQuery... }}$HTMLOUT .= box_end_full_size(); This is my jQuery/JS code: $(document).ready( function() { $('#index_newsbox').toggle( function() { $('.news_body').slideDown();//specific news-body... }, function() { $('.news_body').slideUp();//specific news-body... }); });$(document).ready( function() { $('#toggle_all').toggle( function() { $('.news_body').slideDown();//all news-body... }, function() { $('.news_body').slideUp();//all news-body... }); }); I want 2 things here. First is to make a simple <a href> link that can toggle ALL news-body div classes to slidedown and up, (does not work yet). next is simple, i wonna do this for each and one of the divs also. Meaning making some sort of ID to the jQuery/JS so it will chose the specific div-box to deal with... now, as you see, i have maked an $id inside the PHP for the div (id from table inside DB). From here im stuck a little bit, coz this is my first kind of project with jQuery, i always used normal JS. This seemed a little bit more simpler, and yet, i stuck, how dramatic -.-'... Anyhow, would be great if anyone could drop in with an idea on how to fix this one! Thanks as always!
  7. I'm trying to pass some variables from javascript to php but i'm having some trouble. I've tried replicating: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5227132/executing-a-php-script-in-javascript Here's how mine looks (pretty much copied exactly since it wasn't working): function validateEdit() {var canGo = true;var dob = document.getElementById('dobtext').value;if (canGo == true){ $.post('php/edit_profile.php', {dob : dob}, function(){ }).error(function(){ alert('error... ohh no!'); return false; });} } Which leads to "error... ohh no!". Any ideas what it is I'm doing wrong?
  8. I was looking throught a website (http://www.mangore.com) and I saw its giant slideshow on top of the page. I was intrested in knowing how is that fancy crossfading effect between images made. It seems that it is not JavaScript built in feature. Can someone help me?

  12. I have a url (on a separate server with a different domain name) that gives me various parameters I need. I've managed to get the results, but for some reason it doesn't show any results at all in IE and I'm not sure why. It works in every other browser, but just not IE. I've checked the console and there's no errors at all, I've also used jslint.com to check the js code and that's all fine too. While I'm testing this I've removed everything else in the file so that there's nothing that can conflict with it. This is what I'm using to get the results. I have a separate js file that contains this: /*jshint -W061 */function call(url, parameters, callback) { "use strict"; $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: url, data: parameters, success: function(data) { callback(data); }, cache: false } );} function loadJackpots() { "use strict"; call("https://www.domain.com/passkey", { JL: 0 }, function(data) { var divIdentifier, obj = eval('(' + data + ')'); $.each(obj.JL, function() { divIdentifier = ""; switch (this.gameID) { case 2: divIdentifier = "#snap"; break; case 5: divIdentifier = "#dominos"; break; case 1000: divIdentifier = "#chess1"; break; case 1001: divIdentifier = "#chess2"; break; case 1002: divIdentifier = "#chess3"; break; } if (this.gameID >= 1000) { switch (this.stakeID) { case 4: divIdentifier += "_50c"; break; case 5: divIdentifier += "_1d"; break; case 7: divIdentifier += "_2d"; break; case 9: divIdentifier += "_2d"; break; } } if (this.gameID === 1000) { switch (this.subID) { case 0: divIdentifier += "_1"; break; case 1: divIdentifier += "_2"; break; case 2: divIdentifier += "_3"; break; } } $(divIdentifier).html("$" + this.jackpot); }); } );} I use this to actually load the values: <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.1/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { loadJackpots(); }); </script> And to display the results I'm using this: <div id="chess1"><div id="chess1_50c">$1466.85</div><div id="chess1_1d">$1641.11</div><div id="chess1_2d">$378.04</div></div> <div id="chess3"><div id="chess3_50c">$303.86</div><div id="chess3_1d">$523.02</div><div id="chess3_2d">$1473.72</div></div> </div><div style="float: left; margin: 194px 0 0 185px;"><div id="chess2_1"><div id="chess2_50c_1">$195.26</div><div id="chess2_1d_1">$154.37</div><div id="chess2_2d_1">$193.76</div></div><div id="chess2_2"><div id="chess2_50c_2">$146.84</div><div id="chess2_1d_2">$119.58</div><div id="chess2_2d_2">$145.86</div></div><div id="chess2_3"><div id="chess2_50c_3">$2.96</div><div id="chess2_1d_3">$19.25</div><div id="chess2_2d_3">$121.89</div></div> </div></div><div style="height: 80px;"><div id="snap"><div id="snap_jp">$862.16</div></div> <div id="dominos"><div id="dominos_jp">$2823.18</div></div> I've also tried this but to no avail, it just gave me an error saying obj is undefined: <div id="dominos"><div id="dominos_jp">$2823.18</div><script language="javascript">document.getElementById("dominos_jp").HTML=obj.JL[1].jackpot</script></div> I'd be really grateful for any help with this as I've tried everything to get it sorted, but no matter what I do it just won't work in IE. I read something about Ajax doesn't allow cross domain requests but I don't know how to rectify this - the values come from a url that is on another domain and I can't change that.
  13. Hello,I need a some assistance with this javascript/jquery script.I have a page where Every Region/Province/State is a MySQL table called `States`Organization: There is a dropdown menu called Province, that has all these Regions in it. I'm trying to make it so that when a user selects a country from the Country dropdown menu: <select add_other="" multiplyable="true" class="form_input_select" name="Country[]"> The Province drop-down menu below it runs a query to show all States/Provinces that belong to the Country selected and filters/strips out the others that don't. <select add_other="" multiplyable="true" class="form_input_select" name="Province[]"><option value="204">Alsace</option><option value="239">Aquitaine</option><option value="271">Auvergne</option> The SQL Query that could work for this SELECT * FROM `States` WHERE (Selected Country) LIKE 'Country` I've read and looked around and apparently the only effective way to do this with Javascript/JSON to use it with PHP as you can only use node.js to connect to a MySQL database.I'm fairly new to Javascript and really need some pointing in the right direction to put this together as most of the scripts I've found around are really specific to their needs for their site.I'm doing this on Boonex Dolphin so not much modifying the hardcoded HTML itself, which is why I have to take the Javascript/Jquery route with this. Thanks in advance
  14. Hello. I am building a page for people with disabilities that involves demonstrating several fonts. There will be a pane with buttons that either a) call different classes that will load the environment, or call the jquery .css() function to load the environment that way. I have gotten both methods to work--for everything except the font-family. I've put the font-stacks into the classes, loaded the classes, and everything but font-family works. I've also loaded everything into a .css() statement--and everything but font-family works. Here's the jQuery I'm using now: <code> $(document).ready(function(){$("#numone").click(function(){ $("#texdiv").toggleClass("graybkd"); $("#texdiv").html("Here the text is blue on a Gray Background. Does this feel better? This font should be Arial, which is easier for vision-impaired people to read..."); }); }); </code> When I do everything with the .css(), the toggleClass statement is commented out and after the event handler the code looks like this: <code>$("#texdiv").css({"font-family" : "Verdana", "background-color" : "#dddddd", "border-color" : "#0000dd"}); --- etc. </code> If you want to see how this all works, you can check the following jsfiddle.net page:http://jsfiddle.net/gershonb/eJapD/118/ As you will see, everything works--except the font-family change. It kind of stumps me when everything works except for one small part. Thanks Gershon
  15. I have this issue with a function where I want to execute 4 different actions inside an if statement. My code looks like this: function deltagare(){var myTextField1 = document.getElementById('namn');var myTextField2 = document.getElementById('epost'); if(myTextField1.value != "" && myTextField2.value != "")document.getElementById("deltagare-list").value+=myTextField1.value+" "+"("+myTextField2.value+")"+"\n",document.getElementById("deltagare-emaillist").value+=myTextField2.value+",",document.getElementById('namn').value="",document.getElementById('epost').value=""; elsealert("Skriv in både namn och epost!"); } In this way only the first action gets executed. How can I add the other ones properly?

  18. Hello, i have my shoutbox online http://mudsaf.info/shoutbox.php Its currently refreshing with session that checks if latest shout has changed. (Really bad method). What method you would recommend for refreshing since i want to use less bandwith than refreshing the whole shoutbox everytime. So if you understanded anything i tried to explain.Shoutbox updates every 2 seconds and checks if latest message has been updated. Uses only bits of bandwith. When there is new shout it updates whole shoutbox data using about 20kb data.

  22. Nice be with you everyone! I'm planing to use JQuery $.ajax() method to delete 1 row of my database. While searching I found this on the web... $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: '/examples/delete.php', data: 'ajax=1&delete=' + $(this).attr('id'), success: function() { parent.fadeOut(300,function() { parent.remove(); }); } }); I have questions: 1. What is the difference of post & get in the type: ?2. What is the usage of 'ajax=1&delete=' in the data: ?3. If there is success: how about if not success, I mean error handler? Thank you.
  23. Nice be with you everyone! Question:1. How to select multiple id's or elements with hover?I want to simplify this, // CSS or JQuery Selector#id:hover, #name:hover, #age:hover{ } to this one, (#id, #name, #age):hover{ // I know this is wrong selector but is there any way to select like this one for optimisation?} Thank you in advance!
  24. Nice be with you everyone! My problem is: How to put JQuery inside JavaScript Protoype? Here's my code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ String.prototype.maxlength=function(a){ return this.attr("maxlength", a); } $("#name").maxlength(32); }); </script> And this... <body> <p>Name: <input id="name" type="text" name="name" value=""></p> <input type="submit" value="submit"> </body> My reason of using this prototype is to simplify my codes. Thank you.
  25. Hi, I'm trying to replicate CSS3 transition effects for older versions of IE that don't support these transition effects. I'm trying to use the jQuery: $('#myelement').fadeIn(); However, I'm exceptionally bad at understanding Javascript and need some help making this code do what I want. What I want is when you hover over an image with the class "left1", I want it to grow to the specifications I have in my styelsheet for left1:hover. Of course, while transitioning. I already have the code exactly how I want it for CSS and HTML and already have jQuery linked up with my page. Now how do I integrate the code above for transitioning it? Thanks! P.S. I am aware that having the transition effects while trying to get the jQuery working can cause complications, so when I test it out I will/am removing the transition properties from the stylesheet.
