  1. We had a ton of problems with React to handle our states. We adopted Redux, and after a short period we could finally just focus on producing features and not bugs Here is a video of the last meetup we did in San Francisco: Using Redux at scale. Here is the source medium article for those who cannot listen to the video: https://blog.matters.tech/10-redux-tips-from-the-trenches-55e06ed1c0a8
  2. I have a form written using HTML5 and CSS3, final validation is performed on submit with JavaScript. Then, the form will be sent to the server, most likely using PHP's mail() function. I don't recall how to include two items such as these in a form's action="...", I'd deeply appreciate if someone could refresh my memory! Thank you
  3. REQUEST: Please compare the results in the middle panel of the following two actions: ACTION ONE: Click on the phrase Weekly Podcasts under the heading Products in the navigation bar of the Grammar Captive mainpage. Scroll to the bottom of the page and view how the middle panel exceeds the height of the navigation bar and side panel. ACTION TWO: While on the same page with the same panel open click on the phrase Click and Listen. This will bring you to a different document in the same window. Notice that the middle panel does not exceed the height of the na
  4. Suggestion 1: I had an idea for w3school for a very long time and this idea will help people learn better and even make school suggest it more. Add in a tutorial where people will have to figure how how to fix codes like it's almost like the try-it-out but you have to go through courses and learn programming through that, almost like khan academy almost except with programming except khan academy only teaches html and not PHP. And also it wouldn't hurt to show videos of how to understand PHP more. And also how to create websites like facebook and youtube and have interactive videos as well l
  5. I'm trying to use Base64 to compare two images to see if they are identical. The images are accessed using: var thumb5Original = ""; var thumb5Edited = ""; thumb5Original = canvas5.toDataURL('image/png'); thumb5Edited = canvas5.toDataURL('image/png'); I then check them using this: if (thumb5Original.toString() == thumb5Edited.toString()) document.getElementById('tHeader5').innerHTML = "Original Image"; if (thumb5Original.toString() != thumb5Edited.toString()) document.getElementById('tHeader5').innerHTML = "Edited Image"; The problem is, I'm getting "Edited Image" e
  6. Hello, I may post this in the wrong forum and if I do then I'm sorry. I recently looked at the ToDoList tutorial on w3schools, and it is fine and works amazing but its one thing that I wanna add. When I add a item to the list I want that item to stay there forever, so even if I for example refresh the page it will still be there. And even if I go out of chrome it will still be there. I don't know if this is possible but if it is then please answer this. Thanks in advance!
  7. hey w3s... so i have this code: <div class="container-fluid"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-12"> <h2 class="font-weight-bold text-center">WORK</h2> <div class="border"></div> <br /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container main_wrapper"> <section> <div class="container"> <div class="row" id="work-grid"> <?php $query_1 = "SELECT * FROM admvideo ORDER BY video_id DESC";
  8. REQUEST: Please compare the following two links: one works and the other does not. LINK ONE (functional): This link is accessed by going to the Grammar Captive mainpage and clicking on the words Weekly Podcast under the Products heading in the navigation bar. When the panel opens find the phrase Click and Listen. You should be redirected to the podcast_hostpage. LINK TWO (dysfunctional): This is accessed by going to the mainpage and clicking on the word Podcasts under the heading Search Grammar Captive in the navigation bar. When the panel opens search for the single word podc
  9. This should be so simple... I am using a canvas variable here (i) without any problems: for (i = 1; i < 10; i++) { c = document.getElementById("canvas" + i.toString()); context = c.getContext("2d"); context.drawImage(image,0,0,c.width,c.height); } But I cannot seem to get it right here: function clicked(thumbNumber) { //drawImage() in canvas5 using canvas1 as the source var canvasNumber = "canvas" + thumbNumber.toString(); canvas5.getContext('2d').drawImage(canvasNumber, 0, 0); }

  11. Ok, I might be in the wrong place, pardon if I am. It's been awhile since I coded anything let alone Java and I need a real quick refresher. Quick outline: Online Monthly newsletter. I want user to select Year and month, and display type then hit submit button which will then open a new window with the corresponding Newsletter in the corresponding format. These are all 1 page html documents. Listbox1 has the months, listbox2 has the years. Button1, Button2, Button3 are Show as PDF, Show as Word, Show in Browser respectively. Filenames are Month Year Newsletter.EXTension

  13. BACKGROUND: I found the appended script on the net and am inclined to believe that it could prove very useful. i would like to share it with you in the hope that those better versed in Javascript than I might provide insight into its proper use. The annotation enclosed as follows /* ... */ is mine and may be inaccurate. /* * Brief Description: A script for tracking in real time. * Date: 20 February 2018 (downloaded from internet) * Source: Neezer at Stackoverflow * Link: https://stackoverflow.com/users/32154/neezer */ /*********************************************************
  14. I've built a static site with over 40,000 pages using Jekyll. I am trying to implement a live search into it without a database. I tried the w3schools live search example with a xml file I created from my site. It is very slow. Does anyone know of a faster way to parse xml files or am I wasting time. I enabled gzip compression on the entire site also, What would be the fastest way to search a lot of records and return a result? Thanks in advance.
  15. UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM: Probably the best way to understand the problem that the following piece of code produces is to observe the problem in action. Please do the following: Open to the Grammar Captive podcast_hostpage.php. Look for the following path in the navigation bar on your left: Podcast Archives/Concept/Podcast Index ... Click on the words Podcast Index ... Run your mouse over the list stopping at various places within the list until the following effect is produced. An unending back and forth opening and closing of the <li> elements of a part
  16. QUESTION: What is the best way to trigger a script stored in a fetched file. BACKGROUND: I send a query string via an HTTPRequest to a file that upon confirmation loads a script containing AJAX calls. I want to know the best way to get the AJAX calls to run when the file in which they are contained is loaded into the file that contains the HTTPRequest. PROPOSAL: Someone on the internet suggested that the code be placed in an anonymous function that is triggered with the ( ) operator. //data.js function() { code to trigger } $.getScript('data.js', function(data) { (); }
  17. SET-UP: Please find below three items including; one, the relevant form elements of a much larger form; two, the Javascript that determine what data will be sent to a PHP processing page via a $_POST variable, and three, The actual implementation of the code. 19. BACKGROUND: Using AJAX I have successfully filled a <div> element with HTML that contains a <form> element whose action attribute points to a $_SERVER_REQUEST superglobal in the same filled <div> element. I have also set the target attribute of the <form> element to _self. Unfortunately, when the <input type='submit'> form control is clicked the entire page is replaced. I want only that the contents of the <div> element is replaced. DILEMMA: I want to suppress this replacement behavior, but still process the form data with the PHP contained within
  20. Hi there, Sorry but my JS-Knowledge is very bad. I tried to implement multiple slideshows wthin one website. I used this tutorial. But I'm not able to create more than two slideshows without bugs. I tried to adjust the JS code but wasn't successful. At least I have to implement 4 slideshows. My Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <style> * {box-sizing: border-box} body {font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; margin:0} .mySlides1, .mySlides2 {display: none} img {vertical-align: middle;}
  21. Hi, I would like to know if it's possible to use javascript (specially on Anki; if you know what it is) to format a text line into a html table. Basically, what I want is to copy the definition of an online dictionary (japanese in this case): 長/long, leader/ながい、おさ/チョウ And have the javascript read the first "/", select what's behind it, put in a <th>, select what's between first and second /, put in a <td>, and so forth. I have the CSS set up already. All of this in real time, like, when the software tries to show the line above, the JS will format it to show the styl
  22. I am trying to adapt some code I found online and I don't understand one (actually more) of the lines of code. The code is from a function to generate dropdown lists that depend on previous dropdown lists. The line says "echo "addOption(document.drop_list.Category, '$nt1[cat_id]', '$nt1[category]');";" What does the $nt1 mean and why are there two different values for it? Can someone explain this to me in novice language? I can't find any reference to addOption in the Javascript reference. I'm trying to substitute my table fields into the code, but can't figure ou
  23. I have a process that runs every 30 seconds and i want my script to check if it is finished. this way my user doesn't have to wait an arbitrary 30 seconds if the request is submitted closer to the 30 second mark (5 seconds to process instead of the max 30). I tried a while loop and sending $.post within it but from my console logging it doesn't appear to process the while loop as intended var iii = 1; while(iii < 30){ console.log("Checking rcon queue for " + characterID + " (" + iii + ")"); //Code to wait 1 second before continuing. var start = new Date().getTime(); var
