  1. In a page I have, I have 2 links. each link relates to add or just view. Link 1) is where a user adds an entry. and link 2 is where you can view the entry. look at the code blow: <a href="{SITE_ROOT}blog/addentry.php?bid={BID}" style="margin-left:100px;text-decoration:none">Add Entry</a><a href="{SITE_ROOT}blog/viewentry.php?bid={BID}" style="margin-left:100px;text-decoration:none">View Entries</a> The 1st link. I don't just want any one adding a new entry to this persons blog. I only want the user who made the blog to be a allowed to add to his/her blog. So how can I hide the 1st link from every one other then the user who created the blog.
  2. Hi. After a lot of studying I've learned how to create valid xml schemas and data files, and I've been able to display some of that data on a web page but not all of it. For example, if there are multiple <city> nodes under a <state> node, I've been able to display all of the state nodes in the file using "for-each select" and "value-of select", but only the first city in each state; none of the other cities. How do I display multiple items at a subordinate level like cities in a state? Thanks.
  3. Hi, I operate a website - www.afilmcanon.com - on the squarespace operating system. There's an html formatting option. At the moment, I've formatted my entries so that the text is justified on both the right and left sides. However, I am wondering if there is an html code that distributes the text so that it is not only justified on both side, but ends at the very end of the bottom line, ie provides a symmetrical block of text. I've checked a few html code sites, but to no avail so far. Kind regards,Billy
  4. Hi all, I'd like to display a page of HTML after a short delay. My first approach, which works, was to enclose the HTML markup inside a document.write() function and call that function from setTimeout(), e.g. something like this: t1 = setTimeout("writePage()", 10000);...function writePage() {document.write("<h1>Hello World!</h1>");} But this can get quite complicated with a longer page with styling, as I'll have to escape all quote marks with a backslash, and also add line-continuation characters. And it really gets hairy if I want to include a navbar with its own document.write() functions within the HTML that's already nested within a document.write(). Is there a better way? Is there some way to implement a simple wait(n) function that just waits for n milliseconds before proceeding?
  5. I want to make it so that when you hit the submit button, the text in the text box is added onto a separate html document. Don't explain how, just give me a code example and some basics on it.
  6. hello there w3teachers and friends. I have some question. I believe that I actually have wrote like a several tens of thousand line of script. But, just a few weeks ago, I met some script that changed a bit of my belief. Well, simply let me make turn the question into some example: case 1: <?phpif($foo == "foo"){echo "<span>some statement is running</span>";}?> case 2:<?phpif($foo != "foo"){?><span>theres no running statement</span><?php}?> okay, the example script that has changed my belief is the second case. So, my question is:1. which example do you thing is good for practice 2. I can see that sometimes, the second case is easier, but sometimes may burden since I need to write <?php echo ;?> to instill some php in it. Thanks a lot and give a comment!!
  7. Hi, I have an HTML table of variable size (it is actualy a grid on the server) and I have a problem to print it in IE 8. When a page break occures the content is cut off in the middle of the row. I tried to use javascript to calculate the position of the tr tag relative to page length and then set the pageBreakBefore attribute, but this is not my favorite solution. Firefox seems to handle printing automatically, without any css or jscript required, but I nedd it to work in IE too. I would appriciate any kind of help. Tnx in advance

    Ie 9 Bug?

for some reason there is a gray line which randomly appears on the left of all my content. This is only limited to IE 9. I don't know why this is occuring and ive never run into this problem. To see what im talking about, visit this link http://w.greenlabelgraphics.com in IE 9, switch to dev tools and view in IE 8, or 7, or view in diff browser such as Safari, FF, Chrome... Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.
  9. Ive been working with HTML since the 7th grade so I know how it works for the most part. I can look at any html script and tell what does what and how to edit it, but never tried learning how to actually write it from scratch, until now. I want to start making websites asap and looking through the html course i notice that i know/understand most of whats in the basic (except for some vocabulary and name of parts). I am still taking my time through it to make sure I don't miss anything. My question is, how much of the language am I supposed to memorize and know at the top of my head?Should i take the time to memorize every little thing before continuing (like this http://w3schools.com/tags/default.asp) or should I go through the whole course, learn the basics, and look back only when i need to, and eventually i'll end up memorizing most of it?

    Html Forms

Apologies if this is in the wrong section! I am sorting out a site that has a t&c section before the user enters the website, basically people need to accept the terms and conditions of the site - then enter their email address, when the user hits submit the email they enter needs to be sent to my email address, and then the page redirects to the home pageI have basically got it in essence the only thing i cant seem to make it do is send the email address they enter to my email address - this is the code I have so far:<----------form method="post" onsubmit="this['redirect'].value = this['redirect'].value + '?EMAIL=' + this['email'].value;" action="/?page_id=4"><div align="left"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Email:<input type="text" size="20" name="email"><input type="submit" name="submit" class="home-sections" value="Accept"><input type="hidden" value="/?page_id=4=" name="redirect"><input type="hidden" value="myemail@myemail.com" name="mailto"><br></font> </div></form-----------> If anyone can help on point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
  11. At this address: http://into.net23.net/ beyond the index page lies just one other file, an .html page, on that page is a string of characters. This is a website created to test security for a website at a different address, it is my hope to keep paid content there using this format, without using any genuine security. I have tried all i know to find the page, download the entire website. nothing has yielded this page yet. Can anyone find this page and tell me what this string of characters is please? Or is it genuinely secure?

  15. Ok, so I have 2 questions for the community.1. Is there a way to create a HTML form that will send an email to the MAILTO: recipient, but have the browser NOT auto-open the email app? I mean, after I hit submit, I would rather see a confirmation page that the email was sent rather than have an email app open. Any way to do that without using a third party form?2. Along a similar line with HTML forms, I wanted to know if I could make a form with different options (a dropdown box.) But I wanted to see if there was a way to email a different email address based on the option chosen? I'm sure it might require some Javascript (maybe) but I'm not sure. Thanks for any responses.
