    section or aside?

Hi, I (roughly) know what the new aside and section tags are supposed to do, but I'm not certain which one to use: I'm working on a 3 column layout for a Joomla site. The left column will contain the sub navigation and some images. The center column is for the main content and the right column for images and banner ads. The left column I would make a section, the center column article and the right column aside. Is this the correct way to do it, or should I name the left and right columns both sections? Thanks, Gany
  2. Hello. This is my first post and am very happy to be part of your community!!! I created a site for a client at www.vacationocg.com It is not being displayed at all in older versions of IE. I am assuming this is because it is html5 but I am not certain. All it does is load the background color and freezes up. I found a fix at http://www.designerkawch.com/337/html5-enabling-script/ and copied the script into the header.php file (i am using WordPress) but it still freezes up. It gets a little bit further in the page load when I add that script, but not all the way. I am a student and still lear

  8. I am new in the foray into HTML and am attempting to create a page, but as far as the page goes I always have issues with my navigation barIs this a result of bad coding and markup? My HTML5 does validate, so does my CSS. When I set the li to float left to create a vertical bar the entire bar dissapears off the screen not to be found anywhere...HTML5 code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>Homepage</title> <meta name="description" content="fromthericefields, blog, home" /> <meta nam
  9. Hi, I'm starting out with HTML5/XHTML and CSS/CSS3 and am soon getting around to JavaScript. I have a basic structure of my website that I've been making to practice improving my skills. Building it, it works on Firefox (No support for Chrome or IE9 yet, haven't got around to that) until I zoom in and out, then it breaks. Most speficially the Navagation bar... What am I doing wrong? Here is the HTML <!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en"><head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>Home</title> <meta name="description" content="" /> <meta name="author" con
  10. Is it ok to go ahead and use the new doctype for HTML5 eventhough I am not using any of the new tags, but am basically using XHTML Strict until perhaps in the future I may use some of the tags and features. Is this acceptable? So far everything validates in the validator, but wonder if this is good practice to use a HTML5 doctype where there is no HTML5 markup in the source code.

  12. Hi folks, as the lovely HTML5 coming and proving that it's an unbelievable language , I found the new technique "Geolocation" very helpful to my project. as a part of my project, I have a simple form gathering info from the user such as name , email andthe latitude and longitude of the user's position. In w3schools's example , the latitude and longitude are returned as normal text above each other :Latitude: 00.0000Longitude: 00.0000 ( not really zeros ) my question is: after clicking on a button (say get location) , the latitude and longitude coords will be automatically inserted (fille

  15. Hello. I have a question about drawing lines using javascript and HTML5. The code below calls a function that draws two lines with the same coordinates. A ghost line or a line with screen artifacts. I was wondering if the community might be aware of an attribute that I am failing to set that will remove this problem. Thanks! 18. Hello Everyone! I am making HTML 5 exercices for children with the Google Chrome Browser & HTML 5 Speech Input. Now my problem is that the Speech Input misses a lot for example I said "Nine" and Google Chrome filled in "Ni**er" & I said "Cat" Chrome filled in "Pu**y". So I did research and I know it is possible with the Opera variant to define a set of limited words called "Grammar". Now we got to my question: "Is it possible to define a Grammar (set of words) with the HTML 5 Speech Input". A bonus question: "Do you know an example website with some fancy things that u can do with the
