  1. So my mom blogs on a norwegian blog site. She got loads of readers there, and wanted to make a website. I finished the website and was quite proud, but there was one problem... I had to automaticcly add her blog post to the website. So everytime she uploads a new post, I have to go into the codes and put it in manually.. Is there a way to do this automaticcly? I have coded the website with HTML and CSS. Any help would be appreaciated!!
  2. Hello This is my site: http://hojalateriaelguante.agencialosnavegantes.cl/ At the end of the page, just before the footer, i have a blog, and i need it to look like the attached picture. By default, the blog element of this theme has the featured image above and the content below, i did an inspection with Chrome and i tried putting a "float:left" to the featured image and kind of worked but, the content and the picture are too close to each other, and i want to separate them, just how they look on the example attached. How can i do this?
  3. hello! I have just started learning about html, css and all that stuff.. I am beginning to get an understanding.. But there is something that really annoys me! This is used to automatic retrieve post title, link and content.. but how?? I would like to have a featured image+some text on my first page, instead of the whole post! ${ } <div class="entry"> <h2> <a href="${EntryCategoryLink}">${EntryTitle}</a> </h2> <div class="content">${entrybody}</div>
  4. I post regularly on forums and blogs that allow HTML in the post but of course there is no access to CSS and anything "fancy" (inline CSS type things) is stripped. Things like border widths, coloring, object with, _blank are allowed and so on. Sometimes I forget the sytax or even wording of formatting I have used in the past and try to look it up. So many sites that I have used in the past now say, "not used for HTML 5" and then do not give any reference to the old command. Is this to say that documents using HTML4 will not be recognized? Most recently I was doing a post on a closed WordPress blog. I wanted buffering around a photo using the traditional table method, line widths and colors, and cell background coloring. Everything I researched gave me how to do with CSS. I'm not going to tear apart a WordPress site that regularly switches themes and each post and some pages have custom elements just to hard code the CSS. To top it off, this is a multisite which, if you are not familiar with WordPress, means one base set of web instructions and database form the foundation for many "web sites" (in my case) each of a different theme and design elements. Some are out of the box, some highly tweaked. And yes, I know how to make child themes. So, does the use of HTML5 mean all the posts on blogs and forums will need to be updated and what happens to those that happily use old-style formatting which does exactly what is needed and desired and not have the more modern inline scripting that is not allowed sometimes. (or, for old fogeys as I, harder to remember)

  6. Hey guys, I have the following problem: On my blog (http://nachdenkblog.tumblr.com) I want to make it possible to switch directly between the blog entries. At the bottom of the main site you can see pagination between the sites. (BTW, it's in German but I guess you see what it means.) But if you open a specific entry you can see a similar but smaller footer without links to click. The code I used for this is the following: {block:PermalinkPage} <div class="FUSSBEREICH PERMA"> <div class="SCHATTEN"> </div> <div class="FUSS"> <div class="NAVIGATION"> {block:Pagination} <ul> {block:PreviousPost} <li> <a href="{PreviousPost}"> Vorheriger Eintrag </a> </li> {/block:PreviousPost} {block:NextPost} <li> <a href="{NextPost}"> Nächster Eintrag </a> </li> {/block:NextPost} </ul> {/block:Pagination} </div> </div> </div> {/block:PermalinkPage} (In case you need to know: FUSSBEREICH = footer; SCHATTEN = shadow; FUSS = foot)But as I said, no link at all is displayed. Can someone tell me why? Regards,Thomas
  7. Hi! I'm going to set up a blog-like website, but I don't really want to use something like tumblr or wordpress. So what's the best (and easiest!!) framework to build this on? Django and Rails on Ruby, are these good choices or are there better options? Thanks in advance/Nicolas
  8. Hey guys, Trying to set up a blogging application using php and MySQL. Have the form set up to collect the information but simply isn't working when I launch it on the browser. Just want a simple way of storing the blog that the user enters into a DB that I have set up. Having trouble with it and is returning "unexpected T_VARIABLE" on line 34. Anyway hope someone can help. Thanks for the time Here's my code so far. <?php include ("top_part.php"); ?><?php include ("navi_part.php"); ?> <div id="content"> <?php // Check if form has been submitted and if blankif(isset($_POST['submit']) && !empty($_POST['Title']) && !empty($_POST['Author']) && !empty($_POST['Body'])){//storing the details entered into blog_ variables$blog_title = $_POST['Title'];$blog_body = $_POST['Body'];$blog_author = $_POST['Author'];$created = date ("Y-m-d H:i:s");$modified = date ("Y-m-d H:i:s"); // Database connection details$username = "mydb33836";$password = "mydb3383681";$server = "danu.it.nuigalway.ie";$database = "mydb33836"; //Connect to DBmysql_connect($server, $username, $password); //open the specific databasemysql_select_db($database) or die ("Unable to select database");s //blank first value leaves ID field empty. Therefore auto incriment can occur.$query = "INSERT INTO blogs VALUES ('', '$Title', '$Body', '$Author', '$created', '$modified')"; $result = mysql_query($query); //$recent_blogs = "SELECT id, title FROM blogs WHERE created = 0, 10 DESC"; // Close MySQL Connectionmysql_close(); // Echo response to userecho('<h2>Congrats</h2><p>You entered a Blog.</p>')}else { ?> <h2>The Blog</h2> <form name="blog" method="post" action=""> Title:<br><input type="varchar" size="30" name="Title"> <br><br> Blog:<br><textarea rows="20" cols="40" name="Body"></textarea> <br><br> Author:<br><input type="varchar" size="60" name="Author"> <br><br> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Blog"> </form> <?php } ?> </div> <?php include ("bottom_part.php"); ?> __________________________________________________________ Also here's a link to my mock website that i have been working on in class if thats any help. I created a blog using iweb. However, according to Apple it won't allow to use comments because I'm using a third party to host my website (go daddy). According to Apple and GoDaddy I have to change the code (I have no idea how to) in order to add comments to my website. Two questions: Is this advisable and how can I do it? I don't have mobileme so would like to continue to use GoDaddy. Any insight?
