  1. Hi folks, it's my first post here and while I have been learning a lot from w3schools in the past (compliments!!), I am just about to familiarize myself with w3.css. For a start, I choose the architects template as basis for a project portfolio as joiner and just started to replace pictures etc. from the original template with my own stuff. However, I would like to use the HTML5 semantic layout (header, footer, aside...) as much as possible and the w3css tutorial also states that it's possible because the w3-* classes can be applied to whichever HTML element. So I tried to
  2. I have the following paragraphs with image on side and I need a "figcaption" on each image. I need to set the "figcaption" text with independent settings. How can i do this? My image.right and image.left class have this settings: .image.right { float: right; margin: 0 0 1em 1.5em; top: 0.25em; } .image.left { float: left; margin: 0 1.5em 1em 0; top: 0.25em; } And I need my figcaption to use this settings: font-size: 75%; font-style: italic; text-align: center; Also, I'm not sure if the figca
  3. I want to display the time period 1887-1920 right below the image. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.3.7/css/bootstrap.min.css"> <title>Tribute Page</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css"> </head> <body> <div class="container-fluid"> <div class="well"> <div class="main"> <h1 class="text-primary">Srinivas Ramanujan</h1> <h3 id="subhead">The man who knew infinity</h3> <figure> <im
  4. I'm new to forum, a neophyte when it comes to HTML and CSS, brought up via Frontpage with all its "foibles". Trying desperately to fix my website and make it all HTML5 and CSS3 valid. I'm going crazy trying to insert images in text (floating right or left) with a caption underneath. In the old days of tables I could do this in 5 seconds. So far everything I've tried just doesn't work. To begin clean I created the most simple of test programs with one photo, one caption, no overhead crap, no style sheets. Here is the code: <figure> <img alt="" src="literature/worktales/i
  5. I have been trying to write a photo gallery with text accompanying it at the bottom. Photos and text will change with each click. I tried using an input tag as child of form tag with javascript code and it worked. But the input tag is interactive and allows only one line. By the way, it doesn't respect the <a> tag for crediting the photos. Therefore, I have been trying my hands on the figure element which will take the image tag and figcaption tag for photo and photo description. But, I cannot write the javascript. can anyone show me how? I wonder why the input tag is easy but f
