  1. BACKGROUND: In the past I have retrieved an HTTPRequest via the $_GET superglobal, used the data from the superglobal to access a MySQL database, and from the thus retrieved data, generated an array of parameter values that I then assigned to a local array. This local array was then assigned to a $_SESSION variable where it was used for other purposes. This time, I would like to make the routing of data less circuitous. QUESTION: Does the following expression make sense? $_SESSION = $_GET; Roddy
  2. hi, so my problem is: i have a web page that produces a list [ul]. the list is the list of ftp sites that belong to a specific user in the database example: select * from user_ftps where user_id = 'x' great! that works fine. in this case i get three sites back belonging to the user. perfect. i also put a hyper link with a 'get' in the output so the user can click edit and edit the site they want. like so: if (mysql_num_rows($result) > 0) { while(list($db_id, $db_user_id, $db_name) = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<li>$db_name [<a hre

    content script

I would like to do a script that includes content from pages according what the user chooses. Example If the users chooses Contact us from the menu I would like to have the index page displayed with the contact us content( www.website.com/index.php?page=contact-us ). I know it is done by GET requests but don't know how to do it or what is it called. Does anyone have a script or a tutorial on how to do it? Or at lest what is it called so I find a tutorial. Thanks before hand.
  6. So the user enters a number. the number is stored as the javascript value "fname". When the user goes to a new page, i want that number to still display, but it does not. how can i push that number to the next messages? I looked at the php get method, but i don't see how i could automatically set the entry. So i just need to get this number to the next page. I don't really want to use cookies, i want to use the URL.
  7. So first my user enters their name. examplevar username = "Scott" So i want this to carry over to the next page. Right now var username is only accessible on this page. Right now, I start on the index.html, user enters name, on welcome.php it says hi scott, then on account.php I want it to say hi scott again, but it says that the value has not been declared. How can i transfer this variable using the URL or a form or something? By the way, welcome.php redirects to account.php, so it needs to be something automatic.
  8. The following code retrieves the text from the element with id="Text" and puts it in the element with id="putText": <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><title>Get text and put in element</title></head> <body> <p id="Text">$1,200.00</p> <p id="putText"></p> <script type="text/javascript">function getTextAndPutInElement(id) { var
  9. I´d like to get the amount between "(+$" and ")" and add it to the value of the inputbox. For example, you select the following:Solero Exotic (+$1.85)Cappuccino (+$2.49)iMac 27-inch 3.1GHz (+$1,999.00) These amounts will be subtracted from the options you've selected:1.852.491,999.00 The inputbox will display: 2003.34 But here's the tricky part, I need to do this without changing the existing attribute values or adding new attributes to the Option tag. Anyone know a javascript code that can do this? If possible, please post a sample. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict/
