the xhtml mime type is not defined in your browser. And if it doesn't validate when you change the name, then check your DOC TYPE.

My doc type is :<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">file name is xxxxx.htmlnow i'm going to pass the validation, This is the message displayed:
Result: Tentatively passed validationFile: xxxxxxxx.htmlEncoding: utf-8Doctype: XHTML 1.0 TransitionalRoot Namespace: http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtmlNo Character Encoding Found! Falling back to UTF-8. I was not able to extract a character encoding labeling from any of the valid sources for such information. Without encoding information it is impossible to reliably validate the document. I'm falling back to the "UTF-8" encoding and will attempt to perform the validation, but this is likely to fail for all non-trivial documents. Read the FAQ entry on character encoding for more details and pointers on how to fix this problem with your document.Note: The Validator XML support has some limitations. This Page Is Tentatively Valid XHTML 1.0 TransitionalTip Of The Day: Don't use "click here" as link text! The uploaded document "xxxxxxxx.html" was checked and found to be tentatively valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional. This means that with the use of some fallback or override mechanism, we successfully performed a formal validation using an SGML or XML Parser. In other words, the document would validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional if you changed the markup to match the changes we have performed automatically, but it will not be valid until you make these changes. If you use CSS in your document, you should also check it for validity using the W3C CSS Validation Service.
Now when i rename file to xxxxxxxx.xhtmlit passes no problem and gives me the code for validation image. And as you said if my browser is not defined to see xhtml, and i'm on standart version, i believe many more people can have same problem?Any suggestions? Thanks
