Darameja
So Ive been making my first site with Dreamweaver and I ran into one trouble (for now). http://www.kf.vu.lt/~lb1/Agne_S/ <this is my sitehttp://www.kf.vu.lt/~lb1/Agne_S/dangus.html and http://www.kf.vu.lt/~lb1/Agne_S/zeme.html <both these pages have the same problem. I made transparent pictures change into other (behaviors>swap image). But IE 6 doesn't show background image, it shows some gray blank place where the transparent image is, though it does swap image. It's ok in Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Netscape.I would be very grateful if someone told where the problem is. Thank you.
real_illusions
ie6 doesn't support transparent png's. as you can see, it gives a light grey background instead.
Darameja
Well I can see that. But is there any way it could be fixed?

Darameja
OK, I've tried out this. When I do it recommended way it changed nothing and when i paste all script into <head> it shows background, but it doesn't swap images . Once again only in IE... This browser is frustrating... AeroCoder
They seemed to have fixed this problem in Internet Explorer 7; looks fine for me in there.I think the easiest solution to your problem is to avoid saving it as a PNG file, which I assume it is. Some JPEG formats can preserve transparency I believe, so if you can save a copy of the background image as a .JPG file, and use that one, it should fix the problem. justsomeguy
JPEG does not support transparency, the most common formats that do are 8-bit and 24-bit PNG, and GIF. You might also want to look into this:http://dean.edwards.name/IE7/
Guest FirefoxRocks
The popular formats that support transparency are GIF and PNG.GIF is better because it is more compatible with the annoying Internet Explorer.PNG is preferred because it is compressed better and support more features (that may or may not be useful). For your situation, try saving them as GIF first. If that works, wait until most of your visitors use IE7 or an alternative browser. Then switch them to the more durable and easier format of PNG.
