Wikipedia has a page on Comparison of FTP clients and a whole category on FTP clients lists all of them and gives individual overview of each. Personally, I use "whatever browser I'm using"'s built in FTP client, unless I need something more advanced, at which point I use FlashFXP.

For the first; what did this topic do in the PHP-section? If it's gonna be here, you should make a PHP script and use it as FTP on your site (www.php.net/ftp)But I recommend SmartFTP as your FTP program. The only FTP program I have ever used and I'm really happy with it
