justsomeguy
is php5 = same as 5.2.1 ???No, of course not. When a host says they support PHP 5, they don't mean they have the specific version PHP 5.0.0 installed. That's not what they are saying. They are saying they support the fifth generation of the PHP language. A host doesn't want to update their site every time they upgrade software, so they aren't going to say they support PHP 5.1.4 now, and then next month change that to 5.1.7, and then next month change it again etc. They don't do that. They just say they support PHP 5. If you want to find out the specific version they use, ask them or run phpinfo and find out yourself. You've asked the question several times if PHP5 is the same as PHP 5.2.1. That's like asking if Firefox 2 is the same as Firefox 2.0.0.2, or if IE6 is the same as IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp.050622-1524, which is my actual IE version number. I'm not going to tell people I test my websites in IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp.050622-1524, I'm just going to say IE6. It's the same thing with your host. They're not going to say which specific version they have loaded at any one time because it changes. PHP5 and Firefox 2 are generic descriptions of the family of software, they are not specific version numbers.Do you understand now?
